  1. i just did some more reading...you really need to buy a rangefinder or practice range estimation if you thought 75 yards was 50. that is extremely unethical hunting and you were 100% lucky you got that bird.
  2. both you and your friends have not yet found choke/load combo's for 40 yard turkey shooters. you want to have tighter and more even patterns than that. the top pattern is the best overall, not the bottom. the other 2 patterns are not even and are full of holes which is exactly what you dont want with a shotgun. you'll also need to take 3 shots with each choke and load combination and take the average # of hits in the kill zone. btw...the head in your pics are about the size of a turkeys but the necks are much longer.
  3. holy crap man...why are ya feeding it so much? my full grown lab eats 3 measured cups per day with an extra 1/2 cup on very active days such as all day hunting. stick to the better quality foods that have much more beneficial nutrients for development. they cost twice as much but you feed half the amount as cheap foods so theres really no difference. feeding a puppy too much food is hard on their stomachs, makes house breaking harder, and can make them grow too fast... as to the chew toys... i have yet to see a large breed dog that doesnt love cow hooves. just make sure you get the black ones because they really stink and dogs love em. $1 each and they last days.
  4. at once? very attractive ladies. its always nice to see women enjoying the outdoors.
  5. i think the thought of gutting a pregnant doe would prevent most ethical hunters from a spring deer hunt im just itching to get out there and get a bird. hopefully this year ill tag one with the crossbow...
  6. heh...i did a job at a home that was 2 years old. the homeowners had a list of things that needed to be fixed. they showed me the list and i figured it couldnt have too many things on it. 2 FULL ROWS from top to bottom on a lined sheet of paper that needed to be fixed. had to be at least 50 different things they listed. -window well not installed...what the heck? -paint peeling off window frames -12 cracks in the foundation -cracked tiles -leaky roof those were the things that really stuck in my mind... my cousin bought a new home and tried installing a satellite dish on the side of the house. he wanted to screw into studs as it was a larger dish and on the windy side. after a lot of cursing he started cutting drywall to find that 2 studs were missing! i think they listed the house that same week.
  7. listen to this guy! i did concrete work for 5 years in subdivisions and some of the things i saw were just pathetic. its all about building as many houses as possible for the smallest amount of $$$. there are a few smaller builders who do less than 20 homes a year and they are the ones you can trust most of the time. a couple unhappy homeowners can ruin their reputation quickly so they usually have much better quality. look for a builder who actually does work on the home. its not hard to tell when someone actually takes pride in their work. home hardware is a very good place to start if you are interested in building your own home. they have a catalog that lists how much each home will cost in materials and you just need to find the people to put it together. doing as much work as possible yourself will save you a ton of money. the general rule for construction is take your materials and multiply by 2.5 to get your price. $100k in materials to build a $250k home. labor is always the killer...
  8. yes its a parking garage. if i were still with my previous employer id be working on it when i tell people im one of those guys that hangs off the side of a building 30 stories up they think im nuts or have a death wish. if they only knew how nice it is having an awesome view almost every day. plus there is nobody to bug you up there... hopefully whoever built the new hilton did a bad job on the exterior to give me a chance to do some restoration on it in the future
  9. note to self...do not post pictures of my truck!
  10. bahahaha...ill bet they do just another case of us bending over and taking it up the rear
  11. overdrive while towing is not a good thing to do
  12. sweet ride...im guessing it has the MDS? could ya do me a favor and let me know what kinda mileage you get after shes broke in a bit? im thinking about buying one later this year or next spring. ive had a dakota for 3 years and i can say one thing...do NOT get a tonneau cover. the hard ones are a pain if you are out and need to put something big in the box. soft ones arent bad in the summer but dont even think about putting it back on in the winter without a sleeping bag and heater to warm it up. you wont realize how much of a pain box covers are until you have one on. a cap is much more practical and makes life a lot easier. might as well get the bed sprayed if it isnt already. hard box liners wear through paint and even metal in some areas on many vehicles. then theres the rocks that somehow get underneath the liner that put nice dents in the box and cause nice paint chips.
  13. a good tip for quickly finding quality food is to look at how much you are suppose to feed your dog with each food. cheap foods full of fillers require the dog to eat much more food to get the same amount of nutrients. a perfect example would be my 2 dogs. the lab is allergic to most foods so she gets the high quality food and the beagle/hound gets cheaper stuff. the 80lb lab eats the EXACT SAME amount of food each day as the 20-25lb mutt! this is following the feeding recommendations on each bag of food. just goes to show you how much filler is in cheaper foods... im in the process of switching the mutt over to good food now.
  14. Acana...simply the best its from alberta and i picked up the Grasslands bag which is 60% meat, 40% veggies and fruit with NO grain or fillers. this food has nothing but excellent reviews and its easy to see why. everything in this dog food is HUMAN GRADE. heres what they say on the site. one look at the ingredients and i knew this is quality food. the damn dog is eating better than i am! haha Acana Grasslands Dog Food ACANA GRASSLANDS natural dog food is a complete and balanced, grain-free formula made with ranch raised lamb (certified free of added hormones and antibiotics), fresh whole eggs and fresh wild-caught northern Walleye and northern pike to promote peak conditioning in dogs of all breeds and life-stages. 15. i think i was 22 when i had my left one done...way too young for carpal tunnel but thats what it was. one finger was so bad during the testing they thought the machine was screwed up. went in for the surgery and missed 3 months of work. its still not as strong as it used to be either...
  16. trails here in brantford have been closed due to a nesting pair in the area...
  17. those goldfish may be able to handle canadian winters...but not my freezer caught this one in the grand a few springs ago...
  18. stay far away from the phantom brands. the old man has one and it was expensive and so are the sound cards...plus it sounds like crap! i use a johnny stewart preymaster and it works great. $200 for the wireless version and sound cards can be picked up for as low as $10 each and you can get deer, predator, crow and turkey i believe. while using this call ive called in crows, hawks, owls, fox, coyotes, dogs, cats, deer, turkey, coons, and pretty much everything else in the bush around here no complaints from me and battery life is good too. foxpro calls are quite a bit more money (newest is $600?) but have the best reputation amongst professional predator hunters. they are wireless and you can hookup a decoy to move when you start calling. great units but simply too much money for the average hunter. they are also great for teaching you what sounds to make with hand calls
  19. the price per barrel would need to be much higher than $90 to bring on $2/liter prices at the pumps. last time we were over $90/barrel gas was only $1.40. ive been thinking about getting a truck for the last couple years but i think ill get a new dodge with the mds next spring once the house is paid off....unless toyota comes out with something like the mds
  20. thanks for all the info guys. i didnt know the boat would say max hp, but its 15hp. i guess ill just get a 9.9 and then use it for a trolling motor when i get a bigger boat a 9.9 would be good for trolling on a 14-16ft aluminum? im the kinda person that likes top spend a little more money to get something that will last. kevlar seems like the best but they are also very pricey. ill use it for portaging maybe twice a year. mainly just want it for the river and likely a few small lakes so weight isnt really an issue but i still dont want something that weighs a ton. experience wise, ive went out at least 5 times a year for the last 7-8 years so i know whats what. i basically just need something for normal use that can take a beating, easy to paddle, and looks purdy
  21. you're questioning whether you should act like an immature idiot or a man? you're a grown adult? you were at work when this happened and he did the right thing by contacting someone above you to deal with your tossing of the crap. while at work you need to act professional all the time. your job is to pickup garbage, not throw it back. you cant handle a little bit of dog turd in the back of your truck?
  22. ill be looking for a canoe at the show next weekend but im not sure which brand, length, or material i want or need. ill be using it in the grand river most the time and likely little back lakes the odd time. what would be a good brand to stick to? what would be the best all around material? length? i also plan on picking up a new outboard this year, possibly at the show. what would be a good size motor for a small 12 ft aluminum boat? thanks for any help
  23. see ya later suckers, dont let the door hit ya on the way out
  24. anyone else planning on getting one of these done before they do some improvements to their home? my cousin has been doing this for over a year and its surprising how much money the government will give you in rebates. i have all the information here and if you do the work yourself the government pays for most, if not all, of the improvements. i'm expecting about $4500 in energy rebates for my little 950sq/ft shack after i complete foundation insulation, siding, adding attic insulation, and sealing are gaps. now is the time to get one done and complete any reno's! the government is offering a 15% rebate on all of your home renovation costs up to $1350 and home depot is giving gift cards worth 10% of your total cost (max of $1000) spent on building materials for those reno's. with all of these incentives and rebates my reno's are pretty much FREE and add good value to my property.
