  1. Nice variety of fish, that's a good day fishing. Cool video as well! Great report, ehg
  2. Well that is an interesting viewpoint on those bighead/silver carp invaders. The silver carp are said to be the best eating and i have read they are highly rated for sushi etc,... The article does mention that the common carp around here is not even close to being that good. But i would never eat them and wouldn't want them invading our waters. cheers, ehg
  3. The teeth of the musky cut me. Once i got near home i went to a Shoppers Drug Mart and bought some Hydrgeon Peroxide and strips to seal the wound. The pharmicist suggested i should get a couple of stitches, but its healing nicely now. This is the first time i was cut by a musky after catching many for last 20 years. The fish started thrashing as i went to pull it from the cradle for a photo, and some how caught my wrist with it's teeth. It could have been worse with bigger veins and ligaments very close to being severed. I have more respect for a muskies potential danger. Aside from all that we did see dead carp still floating around. And a thanks to Mikeh for the boat excursion. cheers, ehg
  4. Went with Mikeh from this board to try and catch some bass and musky to add to our teams in the OFC tourney. Was a real nice day, not too windy, a little cloud cover and comfortable temperatures. So the day showed promise. Went to our first area and threw topwaters and spinnerbaits and caught some small aggresive bass. Mike caught a nice 10 in. rock bass on his first few casts. We ended up catching a bunch of smallies and largemouth as well but nothing big. Was hoping for some large bass to boost our team totals, but they were all this size. We moved around and tried different spots and Mike caught smallmouth while i caught largemouth for some reason. Mike finally caught a different fish when he caught this nicely marked little musky. After awhile of casting we decided we had enough of small bass and tried trolling for muskies. Mike put on this lure for this endeavour. We trolled in 15-25 ft. of water on the north-east side of Pigeon and Mike had a couple of really nice hits on that lure but didn't bring em in. Finally he hooked a good one it jumped, then got tangled around my line as i was reeling in, but quickly was landed in my cradle. This fish was chunky 38 inch fish. So everything was ready the OFC.community sign, tape measure, the hooks were removed, cameras ready for his pictures. I reach in the cradle to get said fish for pictures and it freaks, next second its gone. I apologize immediately to Mike for losing this fish.(I've caught and landed 100's of muskie and 100's of pike with no issues) I look to my hand area to see my wrist bleeding profusely, not sure how, since it happened in a split second. After all the care put into its landing, this what the musky gives us, and no picture of it in return. Its amazing that we treat those nasty muskies so well! Ha!Ha!Ha! However it was a great day, and i'll be out there again soon. cheers, ehg
  5. Sounds like it could be devestating to the Great Lakes if the Asian carp get a foothold. Hopefully it's an isolated fish. Maybe the MNR can get that stuff killing all the carp in the Kawarthas and put it in the Great Lakes. ehg
  6. That is a lot of decent bass! Looks like Quinte is becoming a great place to catch bass. Very nice work, ehg
  7. Great photographs and nice setup with the kayak. Thanks for posting. ehg
  8. Always was skeptical about these eastern cougar/mountain lion sightings but not now. If Alberta has 8,000 cougars confirmed it seems possible there are a few hundred in Ontario. There is lots of space outside of Toronto. ehg
  9. Here is a picture from last long weekend near Bensfort bridge. If you stay near the shore no problem, the middle of the river could be busy in the afternoon. ehg
  10. Good to see the T.O harbourfront reports again! Nice bunch of largemouth. I've mostly caught smallies in the rivers, must be some bruisers in the big lake areas. Thanks for posting, ehg
  11. There is a launch on east side like 1.5 km north of Sebright off of Rd. 45. Probably that 'split rail' camp. Never fished there just drove by a few times. Good luck, ehg
  12. A buddy of mine got his PB walleye (over 12lbs) there on Williams spoon while trolling for lake trout. The big ones are in there, chance at big lakers as well. Good luck, ehg
  13. Was wondering about that place myself. Apparently small lake with smallish fish but decent numbers. Lots of desirable species largemouth, smallies, little pickerel, pike and even musky. Sounds like a minature Dalrymple. Good Luck, ehg
  14. It's actually a retrograding (moving backwards) low pressure system similar in movement to tropical system. It actually stabilizes or stagnates the weather as it goes against the grain. No big rain or storm however. In conjunction with the full moon phase this weekend in theory there should be good fishing. Some decent reports last couple of days. cheers, ehg
  15. Those are some real nice photos on the lake. Big perch as well! cheers, ehg
  16. Looks like a good day's fishing. The Otonabee is worth checking out many launches along it's length. cheers, ehg

    Fish Story

You musta snagged a massive sturgeon or had caught a huge musky. Do sturgeon hit lures? Great story, ehg
  18. Nice pictures and write up! Thanks for report, ehg
  19. 1. Very light east winds. 2. If it is too windy to fish. 3. Jetskiers who go real close to your boat.
  20. Some will say just fish whenever you can go, but i did notice my 2 largest walleyes were caught as the sun was setting and the full moon was just rising. Good Luck, ehg
  21. Cool videos, obviously you were sure you would catch a brookie. Looks like some nice waters there. cheers, ehg
  22. Excellent extended report and pictures! Very nice, ehg

    !

I caught a 23 inch smallmouth in Pigeon that was a tad under 7 lbs, so i'd think that was a 6.5 lb fish held right to the camera. ehg
  24. I've fished it a few times in the summer and caught alot of smallmouths. Good Luck, ehg
  25. Excellent report and pictures! Thanks for taking time to post it, ehg
