Great report with some nice fish and details! Very nice taking the daughter for some decent fish. Had caught the same musky on Pigeon a few years apart back about 1999- 2002. The second time it looked healthier, C&R obviuosly works. First time Second time Thanks for report, ehg

Sounds like a memorable trip actually! Too bad about your friends illness, but you still caught a bunch of fish of a lifetime. Monster lakers, big brookies, and huge pike will be stored in your memories forever. Thanks for sharing, ehg

Welcome and nice report! The bass fishing should really pick up there now, fishing from a boat is way better around the islands. cheers, ehg

I noticed that the Forks of Credit road was closed for construction from McLaren Rd. westwards but didn't notice for how long. Nautifish, i'm not aware of stocking of fish in Lake Erie but don't think Atlantic's are put in there. cheers, ehg

Nice report! You will get into a musky soon enough, with the time and effort you put into fishing. Most of the Kawarthas is full of musky. cheers, ehg

Nice musky! Almost tiger musky-like markings. ehg

Thought i'd add some pics from another time for comparison. A rainbow a brown this thing Looks a little like a brown but the big black dots on gill cover are salmon like. But whatever, was a nice day out. ehg

Nice report! Alot of big smallies and pike up there. Sounds like you got some solitude as well. ehg

I think it might be an Atlantic as well. Initially i thought it was a rainbow due to silvery flashes underwater before it was landed. If it is an Atlantic it would make the species photographed the only native salmon/trout to the river. At one time, maybe over 100 yrs. ago both species would go right into Lake Ontario. It is a nice area. ehg

Tried the Forks of the Credit area today in hopes of catching some small trout and getting a little fresh air. This a secluded little gem of an area fairly close to Toronto. Some pics of the Credit here An old structure Was able to catch alot of small rainbows and browns on a #4 Panther Martin which had to have the treble cut off and replaced with a single barbless hook. Had to try and pinch down the barb. Didn't take pictures of bows or browns as they seemed to small, was waiting for larger ones. Needed to 'set the hook' to keep fish on, alot just fell off before landing. Was able to catch a few nice brookies as well, here is some maybe over a foot long. I'm not stepping on this ones head, though it looks that way. This one looked a little different than the small bows and browns i caught. Maybe an Atlantic salmon parr? Anyways, ended up tripping and falling, resulting in a broken reel handle. Then decided to leave, caught a couple more of them on the way out. With broken handle. (Twirled around with thumb) Nice quick little getaway on a summers day. cheers, ehg

That's a super fat brown there Mark! Nice going on the Kawartha walleyes as well. cheers, ehg

There seems to be alot of deer down here now. The north part of Pigeon is at least 20 miles by water away from Scugog and there was still dead carp. Maybe the MNR might have an explanation. Had a snag right by a dead carp when retrieving the lure all i could smell was wretched dead carp. Thanks again Mike. ehg

That's a nice bunch of fish! Wouldn't expect those from shore at this time of year. That walleye takes care of that category for Team 9 until youse catch bigger ones in the fall. Good stuff! ehg

Those worms look like they might be good for walleye at night! Kinda left a greenish stain on everything, ehg

Sat. june 30 Hooked up with Mike (mikeh) from this board and headed up to north Pigeon lake via Bobcaygeon. I was taken aback by his 18ft. Skeeter w/ a V-max initially but hey we were gonna fly. On the drive up we saw some deer right by the south shoulder of the 401 around Whitby, that was a little odd. Once on the lake it took about 30 seconds to cross the lake to try the east shoreline up towards the Bald lakes. Fishing was slow to start. The winds were light and shifting around. Started clouding over and the fish started hitting a little better, as it started to rain. Ended up catching 6 or 7 small largemouth before we thought of moving and trolling big spinnerbaits for musky. As soon as the troll started i looked over my shoulder and noticed a nasty wall cloud quickly heading our way. We got off the water just in time as this storm pounded the lake behind us. Caught some fish so didn't get skunked. Sorry but didn't take pictures. Mike was a great guy with a cool boat. Thanks! Of note though, we did see some dead carp floating around up there as well. Sun. july 1 Couldn't travel far so tried a little GTA brookie fishing early Sunday morning. This spot is very close to Toronto but was so overgrown with brush and weeds it made for a tough trek. They creek was fairly unfishable but i had waders and skipped my Panther Martin under brush. My first fish of the day was puny but i was happy Ended up catching a dozen or so of these little guys and some bigger up to 12 inches. So that was a fun but exhausting couple of hours right near Toronto. Mon. july 2 Took my 4 yr. old daughter up to the Otonabee R. for a little panfishing. Not much to explain here just the microtube w/ worm bit under a float. Had to buy worms on the way up never bought these before. Caught all the regular panfish. A pretty pumpkinseed. Some others Lots of boat activity on this river. Some dude pulled up on a little 8 ft. dinghy and kept this 20 inch smallmouth which he wanted my daughter to pose with to make it look bigger. So i had a busy fish filled weekend (nothing huge) right near Toronto. Gotta love taking a kid fishing. Cheers, ehg

Real nice fishes!

The MNR is thinking of stocking the Kawarthas with Georgian Bay strain muskies to possibly co-exist with the encroachment of pike. It would be nice to see the pike pic if possible anyways. Welcome back to Ontario! ehg

Nice report! Had a similar day at Pigeon (with MikeH) on June 30th, nailing 7 little largemouth and getting chased off the lake about 3pm by a gusty storm. Called for a sunny day with west winds, we had little sun and north west winds really kicked in after the storm. Thanks for the Rice lake report. ehg

A very fitting and well intentioned tribute. Sorry to hear of your loss. Your humility in this situation is extremely noble. I've unexpectadly found dead family members and its devestating to this day. Godspeed, Erik

Very nice tiger musky! Don't see them alot. cheers, ehg

I would concur, but try around rocks with weeds in North Pigeon. You need to rent a boat. ehg

Hey, that's what i had for dinner tonite! The ones i had were cooked by a Canadian dude Ted Reader and was referred to as ' tall boy' chicken, since he used 'tall boy' cans of Canadien beer and hickory smoked the chickens on the barbeque. Had cedar planked bay scallops wrapped in bacon as well, and cedar planked barbeque mashed potatoes that were pre- cooked 'ice cream scooped' onto the planks then crusted on the Q. All leftovers from a large function i worked as chef at, luckily i have control of leftover food so got some home. great stuff, yum-yum ehg
