  1. Great stringer of big crappies there Fishinfool! Looks like you did better than most for crappie at the opener. Still a few more weekends to go for them as well. Nice job, ehg
  2. Not sure about what you're exactly talking about but come Saturday you might want to look around the blue coloured creeks(cold-water) on this map.
  3. Rain, sun or snow they should be biting shallow up there. Just use a microtube in some variation of white or so, under a small float, and you should get a good amount. Trout, crappie or nothing not sure about this weekend myself. Good luck Stan, ehg

    ufc

When these jujitsu guys learn how to strike it seems they can't be beaten. The UFC would have preferred CroCop to win for marketing, at least it isn't fxed! If you think of the toughest streetfighter you ever met he would probably last 30 seconds in the ring with these dudes. ehg
  5. Looks like a fun successful day! If you ever get out to that spot in mid-winter you'll catch an insane amount of doubleheaders of mixed species like this. nice going, ehg
  6. Good to see the pike and carp living in harmony Nice carp catching! cheers, ehg
  7. The lesson could be that a 'squeaky wheel gets the grease'. Exposing your dissatisfaction fairly publicly gave you the results. cheers, ehg

    CLOSE UP

That is a great picture! Kinda spammish post but great picture all the same. cheers, ehg
  9. That sounds about right for most lakes not just Simcoe.. Most fish are caught by anglers who practice catch and release. After having spoke to someone who works for the liberals in Ontario they mentioned that a paltry less than 1% of money from licenses goes back into the fishery. More money for fishery management and stocking would go a long way to improving our waterways, especially stocking of trout and salmon into Great Lakes. Not relying on this new 'successfully spawning' buzz. Walleye are by far the most kept fish. Slot sizes and limits of four fish would help that species. As well if there is a problem in area with low fish pop. it's not 'meat fishermen' or 'internet lurkers', (who seem get the resentful blame), but the lack of money to MNR to properly manage said fishery, that is creating a poor situation. cheers, ehg
  10. They have upped the death toll to 31 people now. What an unnerving tragedy. Very sad stuff.
  11. Andy your right could be a piece of stem, but it is rigid making me think it was bone. Just glad my daughter didn't have to deal with it. I'll make sure i do this correctly before i make an issue with manufacturer. Thanks for advice thus far. ehg
  12. Great story and pictures! Maybe if Ontario MNR stocked more steelhead and opened a few select rivers a little more, we wouldn't have to travel to Michigan or Ohio, but could contribute to the economy here. Just a thought. Again great post and excellent pictures! ehg
  13. So i have some vegetable soup amongst other things for dinner last night. I make a bowl for my 4 yr. old and myself. A few spoonfuls in i choke and hack this up. Looks like a chicken type bone in a veg soup,(which has beef broth) listed. Over a half inch long and wide. Anyways my child coulda swallowed and choked on this so i'm peeved. Saved the can and item but not sure how to proceed from there. Thought maybe someone here has had same experience or some advice. Thanks ehg
  14. Lots of tnformation there to keep us informed. Way better than snippets from John Kerr or OOD. Thanks for effort. ehg
  15. I would agree with Heiny that this is probably a trout perch. AlsoI have caught lots of Gizzard Shad (some up to 5-6 lbs) in L. Ontario but all were accidentally 'snagged' since they are vegetarians and don't hit lures. ehg
  16. Interesting read. I was struck by a couple of things in there. The former Yugoslavian area is filled with cultured, educated peoples. Heck, Sarajevo hosted the '84 Olympics. To see it fall into such disarray and horror so quickly and recently should've been a wake up call to us here. We all sleep well and lead generally fearless lives thanks to the U.S. being a superpower and Canadians having international respect. But things could turn quickly... The Canadians in the article weren't supposed to fight but their backs were against the wall. The result 30 deaths, 100 injured on the other side but no Canadians dead. Yes, sleeping tigers. Thanks for post. ehg
  17. Those are some well done paintings. Hopefully you can finish the incomplete ones. Lots of painting websites out there. Thanks for sharing, ehg
  18. A couple of years ago i posted a question about crappie on Scugog and received a bunch of PM's from people trying to keep their existence there hush. Can't beat microtube jigs under floats in muddy shallow south facing bays in early May anywhere in Kawarthas now it seems. Good luck, ehg
  19. Here is a stringer of pickerel(walleye) i caught with my mom from the Back channel weedline of Pigeon Lake using orange jointed benos and gold J-11's. Probably my best day of fishing ever. We got lucky. I was 14 circa May 1983. ehg
  20. Nice chunky fish! They should be hitting well a little more than month from now. Way to go fellas. ehg
  21. Fished from a boat so had a little more access. Still was ice in channels at islands, and outer harbour marina. Nice to get out and do some casting and trolling. Been fishing this area for past 15+ years and this was the most ice and latest i've seen here. Maybe 2 or 3 times i've seen some ice in last week of March. This is a picture from about March 23 rd 2006 (last year) a guy Lucid from board and i caught a few. No ice even though a week earlier than now. ehg
  22. Tried for a bit of fishing for pike at Leslie Spit 'cause it closes March 31 st. Anyways the main lagoon was still 3/4 covered in ice which dwindled the area i hoped to cover. Couple of decent follows but no fish in short time. Couple of pics of the ice for anyone thinking of going tommorrow. cheers, ehg
  23. Again great report, pictures and write up. Top shelf ice pike fishing! Thanks for posting, ehg
  24. Just thought i'd bump this old thread on the hot topic today. Would'nt hurt if we took responsibilty on a personal level to encorage a positive outlook. It would help all issues in a collective way.
  25. Awesome! They made one of the greatest pieces of work of last 50 yrs there. I'm not even a huge Pink Floyd fan. Thanks for the link ehg
