  1. Happens every year at this time, little is open and folks get a little stir crazy. Did a post about it couple of years ago. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...ic=1030&hl=
  2. Always thought they were the size of a raccoon. Saw my first one this year near a road. It was actually quite large!
  3. But that is a huge musky! Martin Williamson's fish from Nov 2000 was kept, 55.5"length by 31.5 girth and weighed 61.4 lbs. That musky there from the St. Lawrence is easily bigger, maybe over 65 lbs. Amazing! Thanks for posting that!
  4. Good to see some nice fish caught there. Hopefully those couple of hours took your brain off calculus, even though when missing some fish you were thinking.
  5. Great report and little tidbits. I guess fish are a little darker in the deep Niagara. Back in the 1980's there was no flourocarbon leaders and many fish were still caught. Nice little report, ehg
  6. Even though you didn't take many pictures Lew, these ones you posted are excellent muskies. That's an incredible Bald Eagle picture as well. Hope you get something down at the Niagara in December! Cheers, ehg
  7. Amazing post and work there SNAG, thought i saw Mr. D on a 'Family Guy' episode. Keith/Grim Reaper sent me this link, apparently you were supposed to go to a club after fishing. He said this one is for you. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_S532DjrZk Thanks for taking time to post your adventure, ehg
  8. Think i know the intention, however i read a Lundboy link where the Pleiadians in conjunction with Illuminati and Bilderberg Group are conspiring to soften the ice in Ontario. lol So i think way less than 5 people will perish actually ice fishing, but more snowmobilers and trucks will go through as usual.
  9. Nice report and pictures there Bill! Those fish are insane scrappers, sure beats those little speckled trout. (specks have their time) Good to see you doing so well with those. ehg
  10. Saw one caught at Pickering, on a shad rap, many years ago. Sounds like they are in Quinte but are caught by accident. I've heard of huge ones in that bay.
  11. Shoulda added this on last post but... I think the colder weather and lack of any other boats helped make the fishing better, the bay is all frozen now. Thanks Mike, i would go out(like 15 yrs. prior) and post the results anyways. Glad it takes the edge off all the biotching at this time of the year. I'll keep reporting these whenever i can get out there.
  12. Also called Lymphosarcoma, apparently affects esox and walleye in cold waters. The flesh doesn't get contaminated. Pretty ugly i would not eat the fish however. Was all over fall Kawartha muskies i caught 10 - 15 yrs. ago haven't seen it there recently.
  13. Thanks for the link! Very important knowledge for this time of year. Wearing a lifejacket is obviously key, but breathing properly seems real important as well. Seems like being overweight might actually be beneficial in cold water.
  14. Thanks for all replies! Took these picture so thought i'd share. That little ship was really moving fast! Thanks Grant/SNAG, I would still be going out doing this anyways, nice to share the pictures though. I wasn't expecting to catch much so it was a good day. The browns were all caught trolling, the basses were caught casting, think it was 24 farenheit out there. Sure was cold. Usually can't do this till mid January, got a jump on it this year. lol Still looking for something for the tourney as well!
  15. Looks like your son had a great year! Each year will get better and better for him, wait until you get into the muskies at Lake of Two Mountains. Lots of great fishing around Montreal. At least Quinte salvaged your year at the end. Nice post, ehg
  16. Too bad you didn't catch any fish. Surely you'll nail some in a short while. First ice usually produces best. Nice job on the video of the fishfinder w/ commentary, you can see the fish and lure on the screen. Thanks for post, ehg
  17. Excellent pics and story. Like the vids as well. Seems like the fish were affected by the cold front, more than one would expect. Thanks for sharing, ehg
  18. My favorite time of the year is when things start to freeze outside. When the winds are very light from the northerly direction on a Saturday, i definitely like to hit the big lake. Not a great start, forgetting the gas tank hose and then having to drive back home took some time away. Eventually got there and it was pretty calm Saw a larger boat really going fast not to far away Ended up hitting fish right away, but didn't get the first few in the boat. Buddy Dave got the first fish in the boat and it was one of the nicer ones. This fish jumped a bunch before being netted. Ended up getting into some white bass and more browns as well And caught more fish including a nice smallie Not a bad few hours of fishing , also caught smaller bass, white bass and browns. For multi-species was oddly hoping for a bow, carp or sheepshead but none were caught. Sure was cold out there though. ehg
  19. That is a lot of nice flora and fauna you happened upon this year! great pictures ehg
  20. Nice little report, that heron sure looks cold. Now i see why these 'bows are nicknamed chromers. Must be plenty of megapixels on your camera.
  21. Another great and humorous T.O report there SNAG/Grant hopefully more to come. Nice fish! Why wait till March? Right now it has to be 8-10 lbs solid. Hopefully that program will work, there is a couple of 'Goodfellas' that want to speak with you. Nice post again, ehg
  22. Nice intro to this trip! Part Two is anticipated.
  23. I still use the same musky baitcaster (Quantum Iron w/ original Fireline) for last 12 yrs. with no problem. Also have adjusted drag so a 15 lb + musky can pull a little out on their runs. Loosen your drag a bit and your reel should last longer and the fish will burn out less.
  24. Thank goodness your wife and beautiful children are alright! Puts things in perspective. Your a good and lucky man Mike. Thanks for the great reports you have done, obviously the next one will have to wait. ehg
  25. I remember your online persona change post from Honeydew to BITEME. Despite that new challenging and acerbic persona; you have now shown in this post your great heart and attitude. This is all real big of you ehg
