  1. Was thinking that large brookie possibly came down from the forks area, but the CRAA and MNR state otherwise If that was a brookie in Cooksville Creek it didn't dropback from anywhere. Regardless, this is a mighty fine brookie to be caught in the heart of a heavily populated area(Mississauga)
  2. Seems like being in tune with the conditions(flow charts, weather etc...) and presenting accordingly really helped put you on the fish. Lots of great info and excellent pictures Thanks for sharing, ehg
  3. Another great report. Like the vid addition and scenery pics. cheers, ehg
  4. CRAA must be doing some good work! Caught my fattest brookie from same system this year. This was after nearly 20 yrs. of fishing creek brookies. This fish was held nearly vertical (see small tail) due to sand cliff making for difficult picture taking.
  5. Speculated with folks about possibilty of coaster brookies from G. Bay tribs after catching a brookie over 16 inches from Beaver River a few years ago which had silvery hue. Also read historic reports of brookies caught in lower Don River in the early 1800's. Someone sent me links to this the other day which seems like good news. http://www.craa.on.ca/ http://www.zimbio.com/Trout+Fishing/articl...t+River+Ontario
  6. I would go with the perch SuperShad Rap as well. Been my best lure by far for Kawarthas musky. Jointed Depthraider (or shallowraider) in perch or some kinda green-yellow colour, is a little larger than a J-13 and has caught me some muskies as well. Depth finder is real key up there. Good luck, ehg
  7. The best summary of Zeitgeist in short form. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtqy4DTHGqg Holdfast, thanks for defending Canada. Most other countries are brutal.
  8. Blaque, you can watch that video on full screen by right clicking. I watched at someones house, they burned it off of bit torrent and put it on DivX. So we watched it on a 52 inch TV or something like that. Holdfast, it is a free movie not Hollywood. After reading your solution(in other topic) of lynching oil execs and laughing in their faces while they die; i'll take some of the discussed solutions in this film where they are trying to find a way to get past us being sheep, addicted to perverse violence for the big money's profit.
  9. You can play the video for free (full movie) in Gerritt's post.(post 37) Watched it a couple of weeks ago and actually found it empowering, not depressing.
  10. Nice scenery for a walk, a few fish is a bonus. Good stuff, ehg
  11. Some type of redhorse sucker, black redhorse is endangered i think
  12. Thanks for further replies! The last few larger muskies have been surprises while trolling over deep water towards structure. Hmmm... maybe a new strategy. There seems to be large fish in that huge northern main basin of Pigeon. Meely caught a bunch around 50" he posted this summer. Thanks again, ehg
  13. Finally saw MuskyMike's fish in the magazine, was dissapointed by it however. Only a thumbnail size picture and a few sentences. It was WAY better when posted on this site, great story before it was yanked. However found this paper with familiar face. There was 5 full pages written inside on this trip... only'part one'
  14. Lots of things that make humans seem small in your report. Mountains, huge brown bears, moose, and super long dirt highways. Great pictures
  15. Sounds like not a bad evening. For some reason can't see the pics in any of your reports for a month or so. Nice little read however.
  16. Thanks for replies and happy thanksgiving! Certainly has been a beautiful weekend so far. Thanks Mark, used those jig/sassy shad back in the CSF days, remember that... lol Mike that is my oldest, most chewed up lure but it stll runs great and catches fish. I'll keep using it. It was the quickest release of a fish for me. Couple quick pictures and it immediately took off once it hit the water. It was barely hooked.
  17. Nice variety of fishes and real fine looking musky. Those larger bows are a blast and great fighters. Thanks for posting, ehg
  18. Nice reports there Bill! The Ottawa River looks huge but very scenic up that way. Very nice. Those 'bows from the Notty look pretty healthy. Those #0or #1 mepps are pretty effective on the river steelhead, in the fall or later spring. Used them for bows in May alot. Thanks for report, ehg
  19. Hi folks, Had some time today so tried fishing Pigeon Lake. The bass seem to disappear from usual spots so walleye were targetted mostly on this fine fall day. It was real beautiful and quietish on the lake today. My buddy Dave was certainly happy to get out fishing. Not much wind so vertical jigging for eyes seemed relaxing and the choice of day. Caught a bunch of smallish walleye this way. None of these fish were very big but kept us busy catching and having fun. Dave says get the net but this one didn't turn out big either. Were hitting these fish constantly was a gonna take a few home for eating but forgot to take any. Caught some big colourful bluegill and rockbass as well. Figured we would try trolling for muskies since might be last time up this way for the season. So i put on my trusty perch SuperShad Rap and buddy put on his favorite lure and trolling we went. Shortly into trolling while in middle of nowhere over 45' of water i got a hit. Turned out to be a chunky musky. Got it near the boat and it jumped and thrashed around. Turned out to be a fat 43 inch fish. Did get a picture with OFC sign for entry into tourney as well. Didn't want to fish topwaters but with calm conditions tried anyways. Caught some little largies but didn't fish that way too long. Turned out to be a real picturesque fall day with decent fishing, had a great time today. Too bad the days are shorter now it really flew by. Cheers, ehg
  20. Found this board weeks after this happened. Was moved and still think of it to this day. Had a child just born shortly after that. So reading about it was very significant to me. Your ability to forge on through this unimaginable tragedy makes you still a hero to this day. Godspeed
  21. Thanks for further information and PM's i feel like i'm closer to getting some roe in a sound ethical way. Appreciate your generous offer as well solopaddler but i'm never down that way. Thanks again, ehg
  22. Thanks for replies, already read those reports just didn't think that charters and cleaning of fish was still occuring this late in the season. Don't really feel like salmon fishing in a trib hoping for a female( if they still bite now ) Really was curious if you can purchase eggs in bulk from hatchery. Just want to try this long lasting curing method. Maybe i'll join 'floatfishing.net' and ask the question there.
  23. After reading a bunch of posts on curing roe, and brown and steelhead fishing in general i have become interested in dusting of the float equipment and giving the trout tribs a go later this fall. I haven't really done this much for 15 years or so but did a lot in the 80's/early 90's. Despite the steelie jigs and pink trout worms i'm guessing roe is still the way to go. So there was a post on curing were you drew all the water out of the eggs and re-hydrated them when thawed. Removing the water allowed for real extended freezer life. So i want to try this but need some roe. I've read about the fish cleaning house at the Credit or from a hatchery but am hoping someone can enlighten me so i don't waste too much time looking in the wrong places. PM's would be good if needed. Thanks in advance, ehg
  24. Birthday wishes to you Patrick! Hopefully more years of good fishing like you had this year. Cheers, ehg
  25. Caught one in the late 1980's from the mouth of the Oshawa Creek. It was late November and it hit a roe bag when i was drifting for steelhead. That was the only one i caught in a trib.
