  1. I put a pipe coupling at the bottom of mine. Also, don't tie cable to top---it will pull the 'pipe' off vertical. I abandoned my version in favor of using a couple of zip ties, one of them thru a loop in the cable---don't have a pic right now to show you.
  2. Sorry for the confusion. What I was trying to say was that I thought that, with the extension handle as well as the normal handle , you could use both hands on the drill and that would prevent any wrist injury.
  3. I'm surprised. I thought that having 2 hands on the drill would prevent any twist.
  4. Re-thinking this a bit. By the time I spend $100 on a Clam plate and more on bigger batt(s), I might be better buying a Ridgid 18 V. Apparently it has a side handle that can be used to brace against the torque and avoid wrist injury. Comments? Thx
  5. Hmmm---I'd be very interested in this! For one thing, I quite enjoy making things. Heck, I even made a DIY 'jawjacker' that I can't be bothered using! Second--I was searching on the net and it seems most everybody is sold out of Clam plates. I did drill a couple of holes about years ago but the potential for a serious wrist injury scared me off. I just had the little adapter from CTC.
  6. I have an ordinary 18v Dewalt with Ni-Cad batts rated at 1.5 A-H. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth buying a Clam plate for it. Bigger cap'y batts seem to be avail on-line fairly cheap if I need 1 or 2. Then again, I don't tend to drill many holes. I have a 6" Mora/Normark. Comments/suggestions?
  7. Why not just freeze the dead minnows instead of salting them?
  8. I take their claims with a grain of salt!!
  9. Now if I could get my buddies interested in making that drive I'd be on my way to Nakina----again!!
  10. Not too often and I sure do miss it!!!
  11. Did you buy the Finbore knockoff that was on sale a few weeks back?
  12. Or it could be the user!! Felling really sorry for you down there, y'know!!
  13. Up to 7 on Thur---might have to dig out my trunks and check out the beach!!
  14. Gone waay up to -6 now. Supposed to be 7 on Thur----might have to dig out my swim trunks and head for the beach!!! (Yup---was so cold in Ottawa that the politicians had their hands in their own pockets!!)
  15. A friend if Forest, eh?? There's another expression---"birds of a feather flock together"
  16. Bear in mind that the more 'normal' clothes you wear, the more water will soak in and weigh you down when trying to get out.
  17. Some of us use a slip float for their light bite. The smaller ones tend to nibble a bit before swallowing.
  18. Serves those sissy buggers right---going South to escape the cold. Stay here and take the winter like a real Canadian!!!
  19. Use minnows. the fish are small and don't often go for spoons and such.
