  1. Thx, Dan. I guess I can move them inside to the shed but I'd still need to keep them at least partially covered as the shed has a big window. Prob less dampness than outside though.
  2. Dan--I understand the cool and sunlight bit but why dry? On the vehicle they are exposed to all sorts of wet conditions. I store mine outside in a vertical stack protected by a tarp. I assumed that was OK. thx
  3. Here's a trick I use when cleaning out: I lite up some paper or cardboard in 1 corner. It creates enough draft up the chimney to take most all the dust with it. I don't get much dust at all when loading.
  4. If you have a wood stove you shouldn't be smelling(or breathing in) smoke, or do you mean when you go outside?
  5. How the heck do you split the bigger ones---say 16"----w/o a wedge?
  6. I lean more towards buying my wood these days. Still scrounge scrap lumber for kindling.
  7. Ours is similar and likewise goes thru the ceiling. Whether a fan is 'needed' or not is a matter of opinion. My wife complains if I 'overshoot' and put too much wood in(I think I could peel the paint in the living room if I went right to town with the wood! ), but then again she doesn't like the sound and the 'draft' of a fan tucked away in the far corner!! But she 'loves' the stove. Go figger!!!
  8. We have a wood stove. It's kind of messy and a lot of work but so far my wife and I both like it. OI--the best way to move the heat is to stick a fan on the floor in the corner of the room furthest away from the stove. That way you are pushing the cold air toward that stove and helping the natural circulation. Ceiling fans just stir up the warm air regardless of which way they rotate
  9. I'm not sure this is still true about China. From what I have read and heard they seem to be really cleaning up their coal burning plants, for e.g.
  10. Never been known to happen before!!! This is the only kind of Kamiks that I was familiar with. Had such a bad experience with those that I scratched the brand off my list. I'm glad you olks have had a + experience with the other type http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/kamik-supreme-winter-boots-men-s-0872578p.html this topic...
  11. I think we must be talking about 2 different kinds of boots here. Mine were definitely not waterproof above that rubber shoe part.
  12. I don't know about the 'deluxe kamiks' but the normal ones are really crappy. Not waterproof about the rubber shoe part. Also, wears out quickly in the nylon material part above the rubber. My bros swear by Prairies. Can't buy them in my area, though. They are apparently a lot lighter than Titans. Might be 'worth the drive to Acton" . http://weaverdevore.ca/products-page/winter-footwear/mens-winter-footwear/acton-prairie-insulated-rubber-boot/
  13. WOW I guess I must have lived a sheltered life!!!
  14. has that ever happened on a Sat before? esp in that spot?
  15. Did you have the place all to yourself? It's been really really slow this last while!! I haven't bothered because I see folks come and catch very little.
  16. So your butt didn't feel sore afterwards?? You were lucky!!
  17. A lot of those 'guests' are prob bots.
