  1. What did we learn from the Ottawa game? Our team can beat up their team! These aren't the Leafs of old, where no one sticks up for their team mates. These guys have some how finally got it! Kudos to Randy for that. It's gotta be making Burke crazy seeing the team he put together finally playing the way he had said all along... HH
  2. Nice job G! Now go take yer empties back! HH
  3. Gonna miss Tom and his down to earth, grass roots love of country. His three cord songs, his lyrics, all scream of times of old when values were things you learned; you did not buy. For many years, on Saturday mornings, you could hear Stompin Tom blasting out of our house. Saturday was cleaning day and all my wife had to do, was put on our copy of Stompin Tom, "A proud Canadian". The vacum seemed to work on it's own! I have a number of favorites of Tom's, including: and RIP Tom... you did good! HH
  4. Nothing special here, looks like just another weekend at Bernie's to me! HH
  5. Well then, have at 'er and let us know how you make out... HH
  6. How about "blade runner" on the sleeves? HH
  7. Same here... although I expect that when the playoffs start, we'll see the smallish Habs turtleing under the pressure/physicalness (are any of those words!!!???) of the playoffs. To some degree, I think that the ref's will play a huge part in how this year's playoffs unfold. Call everything or let them play... for the Hab's sake, they better call everything or the Habs are going to get beat up... not that there's anything wrong with that! HH
  8. I'd be quite surprised if that lake held lakers and whities... it's just not deep enough, if memory serves me well. HH
  9. Yah, the 90's was the hayday for Quinte... a bad day out was 20 fish! Best day ever was a 35 fish day. We had north west winds steady at 40k, with gusts of 60-80k. It was not a day for the faint of heart. Actually there was only one other boat out that day, they never got past the pump house in Picton. Four of us bouncing around in the boat, (20ft Targa -glass boat with a 225 merc)we never got out as far as the cement plant... 5 footers plus! We left the launch in the dark, dropped our lines as soon as we passed the pump house and had a triple header on within 200 yds. I'm pretty sure I got my PB that day, 14.5lbs. Got a crappy pic of it somewhere as it was still dark and we were struggling to keep lines in the water. I have personally seen one 16lb pickereye, numerous fish in the 12-14lb range. Funny how jaded you get when every fish is a teenager! Got to the point where only fish pics were taken of 13+lbers. It got to the point that day, that the guys out with us were saying, no you go ahead and reel that fish in, my arms are still aching from the last fish! I don't think we will ever see that again, since the Bay has changed so much since that time. Also, during the 90's, seeing more than 5 boats out would be a really busy day! These days, you're in line with 5 boats at the launch! HH
  10. I was gonna say, welcome to Terry's world, but Wayne beat me to it! So I'll say, was Randy in the area? LOL Can you imagine the yard sale if Terry and Randy got together for a day's fishing... HH
  11. I really liked Brown... as noted above, can be a real momentum changer... that said, he is just so injury prone that I don't feel like we have given up much. Not sure if a 4th rounder is enough, but Brown should help all those rookies in Edmonton... We just need to lose a couple of over-paid defensemen and all should be well. HH
  12. Biggest I have heard of was said to be pushing 20lbs... caught night fishing in Picton Bay, on a Husky Jerk, in the mid 90's... by the pump house... but that's the rumour! HH
  13. Hey Peter... some of us buy bikes, some buy boats and some buy guitars! What ever floats your boat... ride safely! HH
  14. I knew a girl like that at one time... but she wasn't as cute as the deer... HH
  15. It's an engine, not a motor! Well, someone had to say it! LOL HH
  16. I have fished it in the soft water, not through the ice. That said, I would look at saddles between the islands, drill numerous holes and fish the edges of the shoals. There is an island kinda in the middle of the lake, closer to the north shore. That would be my target area for Pickereyes... that's where they are in the summer. Hope that helps! HH
  17. Rubin set the bar pretty high for you Cliff... biggest fish, most drank and darn if he doesn't grab a broom and dust pan when he has a spare moment... you might have to go hands free with that cell phone in order to work that broom in the spring! That blue pickereye was a blast to catch on my perch rod! That rod has the back bone of spaghettini cooked el dente! Sure was a cool looking fish. HH
  18. All true Wayne, but you left out the part where we caught more than you... and bigger! But who's counting! LOL Lookin forward to the pics! HH
  19. Another gathering of the arse-holes, as we have fondly named ourselves! This winter GTG had some of our usual suspects unable to attend, so we opened up our group to include some new blood...Gerritt, Spiel, Bitsmith and Cliff, you were missed... no much, but somewhat! Bernie put the invite out to Wayne, as he, more than anyone else I know, could use some time away. Getting an opportuntity to wet a line was exactly what the doctor ordered. With Jen's schedule, it was a last minute decision for Wayne and we were all glad to see him. As usual, we met up with FishnSled (Will)at his place in Oshawa, this time we brought along my buddy Rubin, for his first trek north of Parry Sound. We are nothing, if we aren't creatures of habit, which once again meant that we would gather in Powasson for lunch, before we hit Nip. Intended arrival time for lunch, 12:30 tp 1:00pm... got a call from Wayne, he was 5 minutes behind us. AFter lunch, we headed to Bernie's shop to pry him away from work and on our way to the island. Wind was ferocious Friday afternoon, so we decided to hang in the cottage and sample some of the LCBO's finer offerings. Dinner, stuffed giant pasta shells and chicken cutlets... Saturday morning arrived with us up at "Bernie" time and on the ice fishing by the crack of 9:00am! LOL Wayne is into the first fish, not 5 minutes after dropping his line. It was a good day foo all, well except FnS who managed to grab and hold onto that stripped bugger all day. Myself and Rubin each caught 6 for the day, with a couple of nice fish, in the slot released. Fns prepared a great roast beef dinner for us that night and we enjoyed a quiet evening of Leafs and Wayne stories... Sunday again, out at the crack of 9:00am, fishing was tougher than Saturday, but FnS busted that stripped bugger and got three, before we had to call it a day at noon... Rubin brought us many different curries to enjoy, but it was the roti's that were just awesome, that was lunch on Sunday. I didn't even bring a camera, but who needs to when you have Wayne along! LMAO I suspect that Wayne and of Will, will add to the report with some pics. As always Bernie, thanks so much for having us up, always a laugh, great people and a wonderful time. Biggest regret... I forgot my "my names not Terry" sign! HH
