  1. Pretty dangerous waters as Terry said. Not only is it extremely rocky, but it is also pretty secluded and can become a very difficult place to get to and away from based on wind and fog. The yacht folks use them as a stop over while running the North Shore. From what I gathered when I had a cottage nearby-ish, smally fishing can be outstanding as well as pike, but there is a lot of areas to fish, to find 'em. Lauching is usually out of either Key River, if the water is high enough or Byng Inlet. Just be sure to follow the marker buoys or you'll find yourself knee deep, or deeper, in trouble. HH
  2. We don't swim in your toilet, please don't pee in our pool! HH
  3. Interviews are like horse races... sometimes there is a clear winner and sometimes there is a photo finish. Sometimes you just have to be just that little bit stronger than your competition, to win. HH
  4. Watch out for open ended questions. "Tell me about yourself". That's an open ended question and one that gets asked alot. There is really only one correct answer to that question and your response will tell the interviewer a great deal about the way you think. The correct answer to that question should always be, "What aspects of myself would you like me to discuss". Interviews are NOT about tossing hand grenades or atomic bombs at questions, they are about sharp shooters finding and aiming for a specific target. If you start to answer the question, without getting them to narrow down the question, you will be ssen as a person who jumps to conclusions (and tosses hand grenades!). If you jump to conclusions in an interview, you will do it in the job. "Tell me about your experience fishing and your knowledge of fishing equipment". Response - "I have been fishing for X number of years and have experience fishing multi-species. Is there a specific area of my fishing experience you would like me to discuss?" The employer now knows that they can go to you anytime and you will give them what they want/need, without "stick handling" around the issue. Again, if you do this in the interview, you can be expected to do it during your working life. Also, remember that during the interview, the person doing the hiring is putting you into the role, in their mind's eye the entire time of the interview. How you say what you say is almost as important as what you say. One last thing... people tend to get nervous during interviews. A little nerves are good, as they tend to get the blood flowing, a lot and your brain goes dead. Smiling is huge! A smile says that you understand and agree, without saying anything. Any other questions, let me know... HH
  5. Similar Cliff, except the Long Gun was Federal. Our fabulous Ontario Gov has been dealing with E-Health since Smitherman was Minister of Health. Over a billion into it, they decided that perhaps the path they chose wasn't the correct one to take and a "re-write" was in order. I don't know what the current price tag is at, but I bet we are close to another billion with no tangible results. Couple that with the gas plant fiasco and there's close to three billion evaporated. As I have said before, we don't seem to have a "money shortage" to fund projects; we seem to have a spending problem. Wait until we start to see the 40% increase in natural gas costs as well as the 50% hydro costs we will be absorbing... the whole time we are selling hydro at a loss or worse yet, being charged by other jurisdictions just to take away our access. Yes, it's time for drastic change... HH
  6. ^This... now I have no love lost for this government, but as I understand it, the dude was in place at E-Health well before Wynne became Preimer. He was just re-confirmed recently. That said, I have to wonder what the current state of "E-Health" is and futhermore, how much more $$$$ we have poured into it, with still nothing to show. I guess the first billion spent was a test to see how much more they can actually spend. HH
  7. Yah, maybe just a touch to much magnesium in there! LMAO! Thanks for the laugh!!!!! HH
  8. Exactly... I bet their the market for illegal Sturgeon eggs hads diminished as of late. That's not to say it doesn't still exist, but I bet the rumour mill amongst that crowd has them second guessing their activities. That said, I'm also pretty sure that it won't take long before there are two more who will take their place. I have to wonder though, if those folks who have "the right" to catch what they want, when they want it, have any internal discipline, that could inhibit those takers, from selling to the non-entitled? HH
  9. That creek should hold some decent bait Brian! I can't imagine fighting all that bush for an opportuntity to hook into bait! But that's just me! HH
  10. The long and winding road to Leaf respectability has bodies littered all over its sides... I remain skeptical that this will change with this announcement. HH
  11. Yah, just like the next two games... LOL HH
  12. IMHO, there is a fairly short list of players who I would consider keepers on the current roster; -Bernier -The two kids on defense -Kadri -JVR The rest came be replaced fairly easily... yah, I know it's hard to replace Kessel's offensive output, but his defensive liabilities add up too fast not to consider him available for the right price. The rest of the defensive core is mediocre at best and frankly, getting worse by the game. I expect that the Leafs are going to have a heck of a time getting any free agents to sign here and will in all likelihood, be left picking up whatever leftovers are available after "good teams" have their pick. Ask yourself this question... would you sign with the Sad Sap Leafs? Forty odd years of futility with no end in sight? Upper management in complete disarray. They'll get the dregs, the ones who have no other choice offered to them and this futility will only grow. Yah I know, pretty optimistic eh... that’s what forty odd years of being a fan and watching these guys will do to yah! HH PS... does anyone know if the collective agreement allows for any buy-outs this off season... I got a few ideas on that front as well.
  13. Well, I decided to make an attempt and confirming that indeed, this is the world's smartest dog. I showed the video to my dog, "Lucky". After close scrutiny, he suggested that this may not be "The smartest dog in the world" but more likely, the most brainwashed dog in the world. He then went back to knapping! HH
  14. http://theilovedogssite.com/gone-viral-theyre-calling-him-the-smartest-dog-ever-dont-miss-the-end/ Pretty amazing! HH
  15. I think it's less function and more fashion Lew! HH
  16. Shanahan seems like a pretty bright guy, why would he even consider joining MLSE? At the end of the day, working for that organization can only result in a tarnished reputation and failure. As far as the Habs go, I just can't see those little guys hangin in with the big hitters, once the real season starts. HH
  17. The "Weed Man" folks have been bad here recently. I believe that they are trained to not accept no as an answer... but there's more. Apparently, the door to door folks get paid "something" if they can get you to agree to a follow-up phone call. They get a little upset when you say no. I've had to close the door in their face a few times already this year. Time to dig the power washer outta the basement! HH
  18. Does she have a sister? HH
  19. Yet another reason to keep the garden hose hooked up and at the ready! HH
  20. "The passion that unites us", is a great saying... unfortunately the only ones who seem to have bought into it, are the fans. Such a completely dispassionate group of players. If I hadn't already endured decades of futility, I would probably be disappointed, alas; I have grown accustomed to failure. HH
  21. Really interesting thread and thanks to those who have provided insight... Like so many other things in life, it seems to me that money is the driving factor. We have heard here about how money or lack of it has caused so many problems. Then, I think about the multi-billion dollars spent on E-Health with virtually nothing to show for it. I think about the billions spent in this provincve to cancel a project, again, with nothing to show for it. So, it seems to me that there is actually plenty of money to go around, it's just not going around to the right places. That is a government problem, not a "Health Care" problem. HH
  22. Track record of the current MLSE boss says that he does not suffer fools easily. He seems to be a pretty hands on CEO and I bet he's pretty pi$$ed that his company is losing large playoff revenue because of this latest train wreck. None of the "players" in the management group are of his choosing... I expect changes this off season... across the board changes. HH
  23. But did they pay the fine before they left our province? I wonder if the MNR can reach out to out of province offenders to retrieve funds? HH
  24. So true Roy... those bits always made me LMAO! HH
  25. There's been more trolling in this thread then at a Lake O salmon tourney! HH
