Thanks for this! I had no idea, but I will certainly be giving it a go with cheaper (is that possible anymore!!!!??) cuts. As far as BBQ'ing in the winter, well anything below minus 15 and I won't BBQ as it is just too cold for the BBQ to retain heat. Slightly off topic... I spoke to the butcher at my local Metro. Just a heads up! When meat goes on sale there, it has been aged for 28 days prior to the sale. They order what they think will last for the entirety of the sale. When they run out, they just order in whatever they can get to meet consumer demand and that usually means meat that is not aged as long! So, if you see a sale that you want to take advantage of, be sure to buy in the first three days of the sale and you will be getting a better quality of meat. Now I gotta go replenish my stock of Kosher Salt!!!! HH

I would like to thank Cliff (CCMT) for his contributions to our health on the weekend. His generosity is only exceeded by his willingness to help others. He did a fantastic job! HH

I can't help you with your recipe Cliff, but I love fresh ground horseradish, with a smocked hock, some fresh bread and Dijon mustard... can't type, drooling! HH

Weekend at Bernie's (Winter 2015 Edition)
Headhunter replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Changed the words to the Stones "Ruby Tuesday" to reflect our weekend..."Ruby" has a leather hat he wears during the warmer months, which evolved into his other nic-name, old "leather head. Here's the song... Goodbye Ruby Leatherhead Who could sweep a floor like you First the mayo, then the onion Sure am gonna miss you! HH -
Simon, that plate looks great!!!!! As far as "healthy" is concerned, as with everything, moderation is key! If bacon wasn't good for us, the good lord wouldn't have put so much pork on the planet. Are we gonna start questioning the almighty now?! LOL HH ps... look Cliff(CCMT), no ketchup required! LMAO

Weekend at Bernie's (Winter 2015 Edition)
Headhunter replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Well, Rubin was responsible for lunches and historically, we have set a standard that is expected to be met. There must be roast beef, there must be mayo and there absolutely must be onions (red onion preferred) in order to comply with our hosts expectations. Rubin dropped the ball! This group can be a "tough room" for newbies and each other. Give us an inch and we'll run that into yards in seconds! Rubin gave us way too many inches to get off scott free! Luckily for all concerned, Rubin can take it and still keep smiling! A good lad he is! If he could only catch fish on his own rods!!! LMAO! He does make an absolutely brilliantt Roti though! HH -
Weekend at Bernie's (Winter 2015 Edition)
Headhunter replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for putting up the report Cliff. It was, as usual a great time with lots of laughs... Rubin only got half a pic of that fish because the other half was mine, since it was my rod after all! LOL Kickingfrog, Cliff would put Ketchup on Fruit Loops if we would let him! Thanks again Bernie! HH -
Rototill the entire back lawn, level it and put down sod. HH

Hey G, I was dealing with Rogers on another matter and ended up talking to a customer retention rep. I complained about having to pay $2 for my bill and they told me they would drop the fee. No issues. Can't hurt to try... HH

I have to agree with others in that she simply didn't wake up one morning and decide that from this day forward.... First step for me would be to book an appointment with her teacher to find if the change was initiated through some discussions or course work she was involved with. I would also ask the teacher for some insight into how she works in class and her interactions at school. We all think we know our kids inside and out, but I know how they interact with other kids is not something I have intimate knowledge of. I would also ask their advice, simply because as a professional, they have education and experience dealing with kid's challenges. You don't have to take their advice, but it can't hurt to have more ammunition, so to speak. I have an 11 year old daughter at home and like your daughter, she's 11 going on 30! She has a toughness that my son could only dream about having and the last thing I would want to do as a parent, is stifle that piss and vinegar. Gather more info is my best suggestion. And don't try an hit this issue head on... find a back door to approach to this so she doesn't see it coming and take baby steps with her.... And good luck!!! HH

That's it, from now on when I go fishing, I am going to talk the buggers into the boat. HH

Do you have Portuguese Water dogs MB? HH

Easyfish, your comment got me thinking... should we have animals in our possession for our own gratification? So, I decided to ask an expert... my Lab. We had a good chat and decided that he much preferred to be fed by us as opposed to chasing his meals and fighting for territory with all the other dogs. He feels pretty comfortable in his bed and figures that it is worth it to him to give up some of his personal freedoms, in order to live a happy life with our family. I know he can't speak for the animals at Ripley's, nor can he speak for the various animals locked in the zoo, but I thought I would pass this along so perhaps you can gain an appreciation for another point of view. Your mileage may differ. HH PS... I would quote you but I haven't been able to do that since the last system upgrade here.

Just be sure to buy your tickets ahead of time or you may end up disappointed. You can get them online. They have very specific entry times so, much like a CN Tower tour, you buy your tickets in advance for a set entry. HH

The Outdoor Stores, brings back memories of my youth! Growing up in London Ont., there were a limited number of shops available until the Outdoor Stores opened up in the east end of town. Being too young to drive, my buddies and I would plan a day there, riding our bikes from the other end of the city, just to pick up a lure or drool at the offerings. It was a sad day when they closed... I have $100 in BPS gift cards that I have had for well over four years! I haven't been there in that time and have no interest in making the trip... I was just not that impressed with them the last time I was there. HH

LOL Matt!!!! HH

I used to do the high heat blast to start the roast, but lately I prefer the low and slow method at 265 degrees. I found I was burning the spices on the outside of the roast with the high heat. HH

Lets talk STRESS.......... NF fer sure
Headhunter replied to Steelheadphycho's topic in General Discussion
I can't help you relieve all the stress, but this may help to alleviate some... Go to home Depot and rent their portable storage "Pods". They will drop them where ever you want, you load everything into them and they store them, until you are ready. They will deliver them the day you need them, right to your door. It make loading into your new place just that much easier... less stress! HH -
That's good eats right there! That said, in the first pic, you have the roast up side down! Bones down and fat on top so that as it cooks, the juices run into the roast. HH

What song helps you catch the fish? (We have all done it)
Headhunter replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
The first time I ever fished with FishnSled, we were on Quinte in the fall, hoping for a PB for him. We had put a good 7-8 hours into trolling around, without a sniff from Mrs. Pickereye. We were less than an hour from sunset and frankly, pretty darned bored. I think FnS suggested a little music to help bust the cob webs outta our heads and turned on the radio. AC/DC Back in Black was playing and with a minute or two, we had a fish on! Yes, at almost 12lbs, it was his new PB! HH -
what song are you listening to right now???
Headhunter replied to fishing n autograph's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
That's some fine picking/tapping there Mike! Thanks for sharing! HH
