  1. My wife's cousin has been breeding Mals for 25 years. To me, they are over-grown lap dogs! LOL Sure, they will pull a sled all day, but majority of them that I have met, are lazy and would prefer a good nap, to any kind of aggression. They may well be fighters, I just haven't experienced that. That all said, sorry for your loss and maybe a Mal is the right dog for you... size alone might detract from an attack. HH
  2. I like your choice of veggies Chris! LMAO HH
  3. To Bill, Pound boneless chicken boobs flat with a meat tenderizer. Be sure to put the chicken in plastic wrap when pounding. Be sure that the chicken is pounded evenly, so there are no spots thicker than other areas. Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder salt and pepper onto the flattened chicken and let them sit in the fridge for a few hours. Batter the chicken with flour, then egg wash (with water added to thin it out) then your favorite crumbs... panko works really well. Fry that chicken like you would fish. till golden brown. Once golden brown, just add your favorite tomato sauce then shredded cheese (again your choice) and pop it into the oven on broil. Enjoy.... HH
  4. Well, you can forget about Ducane as they are out of business and you cannot get parts for older ones. I have a Vermont Castings that is on year 13 and aside from the obvious rusting of the body and frame, the burners and valves all function perfectly. It gets used 365, regardless of weather and is natural gas. I think the advice given is good, given your budget. Look for floor models or end of line items that are reduced. On a personal note, I think Webers are over priced and over rated. The materials used by Weber seem to me, to be thin and a result, not capable of retaining heat. HH
  5. Buddies got a Ranger p/u truck. He's had some problems with it that were addressed by warranty. His is only two wheel drive and can be a bit of a bear to keep on the road in winter and it's inherent icy conditions. Food for thought. HH
  6. Same here Joey... no uncommon to see them while fishing the Q. I'd stand up and give them a wave and they would sometimes give us the ole wing dip. Pretty darn cool and great pic Lew! HH
  7. Sophisticated Meatball left over from years gone by? LOL I'll go with slag as well! HH
  8. I hope you folks find peace. There can be no better parents alive then you two. Peace be with your whole family. HH
  9. Did you use live bait? My experience fishing that area was that if you didn't give them meat to chew on, you were going to be hard pressed to get a bite. For us, fishing up stream of Elk Lake, on the river, jig and a worm produced but mostly, just before sun set. HH
  10. Trust me Roy, Terapoopa has definitely stuck! LOL HH
  11. MB, I applaud your convictions! That said, if you were a member of NFN, I think your take on the situation would be different. Over the years that the Nip situation has been burning away, we have learned that it is by far the minority of NFN that are "abusing" the lake. This select few have had virtually free rain on the lake, with the senior members of the group, endorsing their efforts. We have a member here who has given us some insight as to the workings of the group. We have also been told that people who are against the netting and therefore potentially affecting some of the groups income, could expect reprisals should they speak too loudly. It's a mess and will continue to be a mess until either leadership at NFN changes or the lake simply collapses. We all know that there is simply no political will to make any kind of change, at any government level. Finding the guilty parties with regard to the ghost nets is a baby set in the right direction. I don't expect any harsh repercussions as a result of court time, but at the very least, they may have reduced the number of ghost nets floating and killing across the lake. HH
  12. I don't believe that they make power dive's any more... great Quinte fall lure. Op, I like different cranks depending mostly on time of year/water temps. Warm water above 60F, a tight wobbling crank like the above mentioned Power Dives or a Shad R etc... Cold water, below 60f down to freeze, a wider wobbling bait like a Mann's Stretch 20 or 30 tail dancer etc... HH
  13. Thanks for the help everyone! HH
  14. Based on our departure time from T.O., I expect us to roll in to the Sault around midnight. If that makes any difference? HH
  15. Thanks 10point, but I would rather not deal with the border crossing and the inherent issues, especially since we will be packed to go right onto the plane. With my luck, they would take my Flex apart and leave us with a 100 piece jig saw puzzle to put back together! HH
  16. Who knew! Thanks for posting this John... now what to do with those slices of lime! HH
  17. Our fly in trip has been moved up a day, giving us an extra day at the lake! Thanks White River Air!!!!!! We will be spitting the drive up from Hog Town and are planning on spending the night in the Sault Thursday night, then off to White River for our mid afternoon flight in. Hoping to garner some local info re a cheap, but clean hotel for Thursday night. Many thanks in advance... HH
  18. Maybe he just didn't have a head for pyrotechnics? HH
  19. Gerritt, you have a beautiful wife and baby that need you, do what the doc say and you will be around for them as long as they need you. Take care and get well. HH
  20. Hey MB2, looks good... but you forgot the slice of red pepper in the rollie! It gives the rollie a sweetness that balances the slightly bitter taste of the asparagus. HH
  21. Funny enough, I got a call this morning from a guy claiming to be working for the financial institution that I do my banking with. He claimed that my card had been compromised, but when I queried him for details, he couldn't answer my questions. I hung up and call my financial institution and there are no compromises on any of my accounts or cards. Just a heads up- if you get a call like that, hang up and call you bank yourself, using the number on the back of your card. At least then, you will know who you are talking to and will be able to sort out who is who and protect yourself. HH
  22. Port Bruce or Port Stanley off the piers should get you into some perch. Minnows and spreaders are the ticket. Both are less than an hour from London. Also, the beaches are pretty good for the family, just watch the under-tow on wavey days. HH
  23. I made Brian's concoction for dinner last night. I altered the recipe Brian posted a bit, by adding Dijon mustard and I changed the cheese to Swiss. Two pounds of bacon wrapped the whole thing up and I made gravy with the drippings. Turned out quite good, the family really enjoyed it and I am sure I will make it even better next time... Thanks Brian! HH
  24. That all sounded good to me Chris, until I got to the bug part, you lost me there! LOL Enjoy my friend... HH
  25. I bet the Bayliner didn't see you guys because his bow was sticking up in the air and he was not being very attentive to his situation. Glad everyone was ok, but if he had hit me, Bayliner boy would be getting someone else to chew his food for a while! HH
