  1. Well, after scouring the east end of Scarborough for the last three weeks, my wife and I have finally settled on which new to us house we are going to offer out on! We will be making an offer this afternoon and hopefully, the vendor accepts it. It will be a real "culture shock" for us, as we have lived in the downtown core for 13 years, but our house has gotten too small, with the recent arrival of two kids. My hopefully new home has a few things I don't have now; -a drive way! -a 2 car garage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -3000 sq. ft, compared to 800! -a pool! I could go on... but I'm pretty nervous/excited/ worried/ well, you get the drift! Making a decision that will affect your life for the next 20-25 years is HUGE... but I know it's the right move! HH
  2. Maybe he wouldn't be so pi$$ed if they had taken the time to photoshop the background out! HH
  3. Now that's what I call a Walleye Chop! Great shots! I'm assuming that one would troll down wind in that? the run back up those waves though, would certainly separate the men from the boys! HH
  4. No problem Wayne... What really drives me nuts are all the retailers who display signs stating that they will not accept $50.00 or $100.00 bills. It is illegal for them to not accept legal tender. I have had more than one arguement with various retailers who insist that they can make such a decision legally. They can't! They must prove to me that the bill is not legal. And yah, any time your purchasing something with any kind of card, your displaying your personal information to whom ever the retailer wants to divulge that information to, probably for a fee. Let's not even get started on the "rewards programmes"!!! HH
  5. On the news today, just thought I'd bring it to the attention of all here... A hacker has apparently broken into the system of T J Maxx, which is also Winners and Home Sense. Folks who may have shopped there should take a very close look at their December bank and credit card statements, to ensure that they have not been taken by this low life. There's a lot to be said for paying in cash! HH
  6. Two words... Chow Dah! Sorry BBR, I had to! HH
  7. My best guess would be a voltage regulator problem... symptoms seem familiar to me in a past problem. HH
  8. FYI - my kids prefer the Tigger rod...something about bouncey, bouncey, bounce, if I recall correctly! HH
  9. Saw that last week, it's great! I would have posted it here then, but feared a reprisal... Thanks for the laugh! HH
  10. BUMP!!!!!
  11. Thanks to all who chimed in, I appreciate your input. I've been in my house for thirteen years, it has doubled in value in that time. It's simply too small now that we have two kids. I know that we can't afford a four bedroom house in the core, atleast not in a neighbourhood I'd be comfortable letting kids play in! As I work downtown, I currenty ride the TTC to work. I am prepared to use the GO train and understand that I will be losing hours out of my day. I hope that my new neighbourhood, where ever it will be, will have as wonderful friends as I'm fortunate enough to have now. Again, thanks for your input. HH
  12. I've said it once and I'll say it again... Mom raised a tall boy, not a bright one! Thanks FnS! HH
  13. If you really want to see government action at it's finest... submitt a request for a social insurance card for a new born, pay the fee and wait for it to arrive. That's a long drawn out process in it's self... now, wait a year and still no card then try and get somebody... anybody to re-issue a card lost somewhere between the government and your mail box. I couldn't believe how many letters/phone calls/emails etc... it took to finaly get the card. In total, we ended up waiting 18 months for my daughter's card. HH
  14. I have just received a confirmation from FishnSled that he and I are confirmed for a camp site for the GTG! Woo whooo! Lookin forward to meeting more ofncers and gettin out on the water again! HH
  15. I agree Knotaclue, you do get back what you put out with neighbours. That's why my current neighbours and my family have such a fantastic relationship. We share our joys and our pains, our food and our homes. I've spoken to a few people who have made the move out. I know there is no black or white answer to this question. Some I have talked to have said that they found the people in the burds to be less friendly than those downtown, while others the opposite. Again, I know no one is going to be able to definatively say which is best, I'm only hoping to hear about people's experiences. Thanks again... HH
  16. My wife and I have, after much deliberation, have decided it's time to get out of down town T.O. and make our way out to the burbs. Our haome has gotten too small for our growing family and I know I can't afford a four bedroom house in the core (nor do I want one there as a matter of fact) We have been looking at properties in the Rouge/Pickering area and continue to do so. I was wondering if any of you have done a similar move and if so, what are your impressions/thoughts/up side/down side of making such a move. I'm very fortunate to have fantastic neighbours in my current home... we watch out for each other, share our skills and successes etc... . Has your experience in moving out of the core and into suburbia been a positive one. Are people generally friendly or as a bed room community, do you very rarely see and associate with your neighbours. I know this sounds like a strange question, but after 20 years of living in the core, I'm looking for some insight/experiences that may help me in my decision making process. Thanks to all for your consideration... HH
  17. Great report, too bad the fish didn't cooperate. That happens and with the weather this year, it's allowed us to fish open water at a time when none of us have been able to do it before... which makes finding the schools of big fish even more difficult. I believe most of the fish have passed the ferry, but that being said, there are still plenty of marks to be seen in Adolphus... I think we have some more learnin to do! BTW - if your planner board is swamped by an wave and decides it wants to be a Dipsey, just give it an open spool of line and allow it to float back up to the surface. Trying to reel in a submerged board is not only difficult, but a pretty good way to lose your board. HH
  18. An old used milk carton can be a very handy thing to have around. I cut a hole in the bottom and you now have a porta potty. Cut a piece of plywood to fit the bottom and you have a very sturdy container to carry your fragile equipment in. HH
  19. In most cases I don't really care, gettin out is ... ah who am I foolin? I don't get "stressed out" but a little disapointed. Now, had I paid big money for either a fly in or a guide and the big skunkeroo rears it's ugly head, I may requie some sedation. HH
  20. That shot of it taking flight is extraordinary! Well done! I couldn't help but thinking, boy it must be hard to cross that ferry and not have a line in the water!!! HH
  21. Great shots and congrats on the pb's! I noticed in your first pic, the red head/white body Stretch 20 haning outta it's mouth... one of my go to colours for cloudy days on the bay. Congrats again! HH
  22. Great report and pics! Love to see people holding pb's, the smiles say it all! Dipsey's haven't been doing squat for a few weeks now, not sure why, but couldn't catch a cold on one, the last coupla times out. Thanks for the report and I hope you get out again soon! HH
  23. Gary that's disgusting! You live in such a beautiful place, with people who just want their lives and homes to be safe, it disgusts me. I hope the cops find them, that's a lot of loot to try and sell off, I would suspect. If people would just stop buying the stuff, maybe.... My neighbour had his car stolen on Xmas Eve, right in front of his own house... the cops found it 2 days later, imbedded in someone's house, a right off! It's always been there and I don't think it's going to be going away any time soon. HH
  24. Love the video and nice fish as well! just one thing... turn off that darned clicker on your reel when your reeling in... that would get you a quick back hand if I had to listen to that thing all day!!! HH
  25. Back when I was young... about 25 years ago I attended Fanshawe College in London and took a 2 year course call Music Industry Arts -Recording Production. The course is geared to folks who what to make a living in the music industry, they have two studios and the students record each other on a project basis. All students were musicians/artitist. I played Bass. Was in a number of bands in the 80's, including "The Cat's Sass" and "Amsterdam". Toured all around Ontario. As our lead guitarist was also a fish head, we would finish playing at 1:00am, then head to the lake/river and fish all night, sleep all day and do it again. Had a great time when playing North Bay, fishin the docks and catchin pike and stuff. Don't really get a chance to play any more, but still dable and enjoy it! HH
