I'm wishing for very little for myself... I wish my kids have a fantastic Xmas! this is the first year that they are really getting it, Santa/presents, that is. Just been too young until this year to really grasp what's going on. For myself, I only want one, ok, maybe two more days on Quinte before ice. I think I've bribed the "Warden" well enough with presents, so... we'll see if all the stars align and I can break free for a day or two. Oh yah, I want peace in the world yada, yada, yada! HH

I might go with a little bigger blade!!LOL HH

Here's what I would do! Cover up all but one of the holes in the floor. Attach a fan, sized to fit the hole, above the whole and in turn, attach a 9.9 motor to the fan. Now, get a good quality tarp, attach it to the circumferance of the hut, glue it down to be air tight. Start the 9.9 and you've got yerself a hover craft! Good for any ice/water/chunks your gonna run into!

One more thing while I still remember... never and I do mean never use a fork or anything like a fork to pick up the cooked roast. You don't want to pierce the outside of the roast... only use tongs! also, never remove the meat thermometer from the roast until you cutting it... you'll just watch all those beautiful juices pour onto your cutting board... and if that does happen... pour them into the au ju! HH

Hey Snag... nice chair, you thinkin of sellin it!? HH

OK, here's what I would do with that big beautiful Primer! Pre-heat the oven to 450 degrees. I would spice the outside of the roast with Montreal Steak spice and if possible, let it sit in that over night. Place the spiced roast in the pre-heated oven for one hour. Remove it from the oven and let it sit on the counter for two hours... cooling off time Then, place it in a 325 degree oven, insert a meat thermometer and cook it until it reaches 150 degrees in the thickest part of the roast. Once there, remove the roast from the pan, wrap it in aluminum foil and let it sit for atlesat 1/2 an hour before you begin carving. PM me your number and location and I'll be sure to help you enjoy the best part a cow has to offer! Use the drippings off the roast for gravy/au-jue (SP) HH

Firstly, the high winds will give you that just right walleye chop! A Northwest wind will not be too much of a problem on Adolphus, if you stay fairly close to the north shore or centre of the reach. You may want to consider launching somewhere other than Picton... that wind will make the run from Picton to the ferry "interesting". (More intersting on the way back!LOL) Alternatively, you could launch from Picton and fish Picton bay and hug the West shoreline (Cement Plant/Wall). The fish should have moved into that area by now, only down side being on rod per person on that side of the ferry. If you do find yourself fishin in the chop, don't forget to run an outside planer board shallow and atlest 100ft from the boat. Good luck! HH

Here's a side dish to go with just about anything! Asparagas - marinate in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, coarse (kosher) salt, fresh ground pepper and chopped garlic... overnight if you can. Minimum time an hour. Red Bell pepper - sliced into strips slightly smaller than the asparagas Any smoked firm cheese, again cut into strips, the same size as the red peppers Procuitto! Arrange 3-4 spears of asparagas (depending on thickness) on a single slice of procuitto. Add the bell pepper and cheese and roll it up into a "roulladin" and secure with a tooth pic. Grill on med to medium high until procuitto is almost crispy. EAT! I've always liked my veggies to have some meat in them! HH

Christmas Story was filmed in Toronto, as a matter of fact, the scene where they buy their tree was filmed at the bottom of my wifes street... her family had bought trees there for a decade! Favorite movies are: Christmas Story - fa ra ra ra rah, rah rah rah rah!!! Die Hard! "sure come out to the coast, we'll get together and have a great old time" Classic! HH

Awesome news and please thank him for me for his efforts over seas! He deserves to have a great Xmas! HH

Lots of fish still in Adolphus and plenty of room out there to do what you please. Fished Sunday, sun up to sun down, went 21 for 25. If you can get out, you'll catch! HH

Thanks again FishnSled! The first pic is of yours truly with an 12.5lber, caught in the rain. The 2nd pic is another beauty double digit, the third and fourth is the same fish. i took two because the fish didn't cooperate on the 1st shot. i have one more pic at home on my camera, i thought I sent to myself, but again, I'm very challenged when it comes to this technology stuff. Try and get it up tomorrow. Will also add to this thread as soon as Tom sends me the rest of the pics. HH ***All pics on my camera are now added. Thanks again FishnSled and we'll get out next itme!

Are You A _____- Angler Or A Multispecies Angler?

Walleye guy here! If the body of water holds eye's, I'll fish for them first! HH -
Got a day release from the "Warden" and hooked up with my good friend Tom for another day at the BOQ. Left Bowmanville at 4:30am arrived at Picton Launch and on the water by 6:30am. Decided to take a look at Picton bay, cruising at about 20mph, looking for bait fish or wally's on the graph. Very little to nothing marked in the harbour or bay so made our way out to McFarlins and did the same thing, with limited results on the graph. Decided to move east of the ferry, again, looking for bait or marks. The graph looked encouraging so we started setting lines. It was a very grey/dark morning, with rain on the horizon. A slight wind from the southwest gave us a very small "walleye chop". We decided to set up a spread that would give us the best possible coverage of the water colum... so cranks were set to run high and deep. First fish of the day came about 1/2 hour into the day! It was raining/misting, but boy was it nice to see the rod bend like that! It didn't bend like that the whole weekend at the Quinte GTG... anyway, she was a 12.5lber and a good start to the day! Next fish, a carbon copy of the first came from the same set up, (runnin high) on a crank. This is where my report goes slightly down hill! I double checked everything I needed before I left the house... except the BATTERIES IN MY DIGITAL camera! After shots of the first three fish, the batteries died! No spares... could you hear my sreaming at myself from Toronto? Tom's camera was still ok, so we did get more pics. I'll add them to this report once I receive them. We boated around 5 fish during the hour long rain. The wind came up during the rain and afforded us some more wave action and in turn, some more fish action. As the clouds began to clear a little, we started to see the cranks set to run deep, start to produce. We were running 5 colors of lead off planer boards and they we hot the rest of the day. We celebrated two double headers, one triple that self converted itself to a double and ended the day with 21 for 25 fish! Four fish outta the 21 were under 10 pds, kept a 5 lber that was not gonna make it and all others were released healthy. I must admitt that we worked very hard to identify a repeatable pattern. The only patterns that we able to establish, were that there were no real patterns!!! We caught fish with the graph bare, and marking fish everywhere! I guess, I'd suggest that you fish high in the water colum early and start to drop them down as the day progresses. However, that being said, we caught them at all levels, throughout the day! Boat traffic was very light, we saw maybe 6 boats in the Reach. Lots of fish that were eager to cooperate and generally, a much nicer experience than fishin the Q in Novermber. Special thanks to FishnSled for technical help! Terry, sorry you couldn't make it! We caught all fish but one on two lures... Reef-runners and Tail Dancers, with the one exception being the last fish of the day, on a Rouge. Color did seem to matter, but can you really be sure?? Planning on another outting between Xmas and the New Year, with the long term weather forecast what it is, shouldn't be a problem at all! Pics to follow! Thanks Fishn'Sled for helpin me out with the pics! HH

Where Has Steve Hamilton Gone?*(thanks-found Him)*
Headhunter replied to brickNblock's topic in General Discussion
Welcome back Steve... nice to have you here again! Water off a ducks back makes the duck water-proof! HH -
I'm making my way back to the "Q" on Sunday morning. REports I've heard are the fish are on... big time! Try and get a report out early next week! Anyone else gettin out this weekend?!! HH

I don't have that particular model, but I do own a Mustang Bomber jacket and have enjoyed wearing it for a number of years. Only complaint I'd have with it was the hood, or should I say the lack there of, until I ordered one in. Still, it's just a nylon shell of a hood, but it does brake the wind. HH

Try and keep the fuel tank full... lots of weight there and safer if you do get stuck! Atleast you won't run out of gas waiting to be rescued! HH

I had a similar situation a coupla months back... guy drove into the back of my Jimmy and bent the tow bar up and under the bumper. After much driving around and talking to folks in the know, it was determined that the tow bar was not the only part bent... the actual truck frame was bent as the tow bar assemblyr attached to the frame. I'd have someone who knows the vehicle have a look. If it's a similar set-up as my Jimmy, you'll never tow correctly again, unless you get the frame straightened. Total cost for a new bumber assembly, frame straightening and installation.... $1100.00! The "rocket scientist" (no offense to our resident!) who missed seeing the school bus stopped in the opposite lane and hit us, paid for it all! Check out your frame! HH

Congrats Joey! Sounds like you had a riot! Where'd ya hide Tybo? HH

Picton Walleye Report And Pictures - Dec. 11th & 12th
Headhunter replied to Shaun Rickard's topic in General Discussion
Talked to a buddy of mine who was out there on Monday, got 33 between two guys! Atleast ten were 12-14 pds, with one 15+ fish... can't wait for Sunday when I get a chance to tangle with them again! HH -
My day started out great! I had to put my 22 year old cat down this morning as it seemed that almost all of his bodily functions decided to stop functioning in the last 3 days. Very sad time, when I think back to the mid 80's when we got him as a kitten. He loved to "fish" with me, he chasing the cat-nip pouches on my flippin stick... he always had time to fish! Hope everyone elses's day is better! HH
