  1. For starters I know little to nothing about this technology. I am looking for a device to allow me to receive streaming services, Britbox, Acorn TV, Amazon Prime Video, Sports etc. Ideally I want to get rid of my very expensive Bell service, if I can keep some network channels great, if not I can learn to live without them. I don't have a Smart TV presently but probably in the market from Santa. I know that there are a few gurus and converts on here and any advise would be received with thanks. If you would prefer to PM me or text (289-828-1804) that works. John..
  2. Yup what he said!
  3. In most cases there should be an expiry date? I would replace anything over 5 years. Definitely 12 yrs is past its best before date.
  4. Was our Spring and Fall trip for many years. Stayed at Atwood Island Lodge, great food. Fishing was always great, catching tough at times. Fished early morning and evening till past dark. Took in scenery trolling mostly during the day. Caught the odd Musky trolling and did OK with walleye in the early and late hours. In recent years moved to Upper French and then Nip West Arm. Catching, in my opinion, is better and the scenery is always great.
  5. Not a big believer in luck. Whether it's your success in life or raising your kids to become responsible, respectful citizens, I feel that we make our own luck. It's funny how the harder one works at something the luckier one becomes. Non of us knows what lurks behind closed doors. All may look hunky dory at face value. Teaching our kids morals, with respect, responsibility and consequences for their actions is a process that is ongoing and starts at day one. Barbara and I were extremely "lucky" in as much as our children grew up well as have their children.
  6. Love saltwater fishing, my fave.
  7. This thread, (and the one that was locked, rightly so), is the reason I am on this site less and less. So many armchair quarterbacks with heresay and theory and statements with little merit or science. Before we execute the innocent, 'till proven guilty, let's see how the legal eagles handle things through the appropriate process .. just sayin'.
  8. There is a huge amount of information online Tom, including an article from the Mayo Clinic.
  9. I don't get these threads, sorry guys, but there is only one way that this thread is going.
  10. There is an agent/broker in Burlington called High Risk Auto Pro's, that's all the do..
  11. Happy Fathers Day to you Kelvin and all of the Dad's and Granddads out there!!
  12. Looking for fully qualified Gas Fitter in Guelph area (or willing to travel to Rockwood, ON) to install gas fireplace. Please call or text John @ 289-828-1804.
  13. Hi Cliff, welcome back. Now that I have completely retired maybe we can get out on the water or on the ice once in a while. As I said in my PM and texts if you you ever need to talk you know how to get in touch..
  14. There is also Temagami. Have seen rentals there.
  15. We were in PEI in September and went out on party boat for mackerel and Cod. Not a big mackerel fan unless they are on the barbie but the cod were amazing.
  16. Sounds like you have got things under control OI... In the early 80's the tire industry was still developing radial tires and compounds and construction was still a bit of a black art ('scuse the pun). Tires are among the least understood and least maintained part of a vehicle. The average person never checks pressures and rely on their service centre to do it when they get oil changes. Every 5-10K is not sufficient and lots can happen in that time frame......and, with the advent of 10 minute oil change centres they prob still don't get pressures and levels checked. I have pretty much seen it all from 65 PSI in tires on a Corolla (customer said they looked flat) to canvas and steel belts visible instead of usable tread (customer had no idea)..
  17. Usually a result of under or over inflation. Belts just don't separate anymore under normal conditions, unless it's a truck retread. So much R&D and Quality Assurance taking place at every manufacturer from Michelin to even lower cost Chinese tires.
  18. Hi HH...Michelin are one of the best when it comes to warrantying tires for either premature wear or cracks or other defects. Typically they will jump through hoops to keep a customer.
  19. Depends a lot on your driving habits. Do you do a lot of highway? If so you may be disappointed with K02"s........great off road tire that look great, , I sold a lot, but they are quite noisy on highway. Michelin LTX MS are in my opinion the best "all 'round" if you don't plan on Winter tires. They also come in Winter compound and tread pattern. I have run the AS for 6 years and put almost 200K on 2 sets and I wouldn't go back to the Goodyear Wranglers or Pirelli Scorpions that the factory puts on. I pull a heavy trailer and opted for the LT's rather than the P series. If you want to wait a month or two Michelin rebates will be starting..
  20. Happy New Year to all! Hope 2019 is spectacular!
  21. Yeah law enforcement already using the technology..
  22. Take me take me...lol
  23. I good friend of mines' Dad used to build split cane fly and float rods back in the 50's and 60's. He is long gone now but the time involved and craftsmanship was epic. There was no fancy wrap or detail but everything was so precise and the balance was perfect. Sad to say I had a 5 wt, one of the last he built as he couldn't compete with the glass rods of the time and arthritis was setting in, but I left it in the UK in the early 70's and it didn't survive my parent's house move..?
  24. Being a tire dealer I`m going to try to stay impartial here. There are distinct differences. The All Weather tire is really a hybrid of All Season and Winter. All Season tires have a relatively straight uniform tread pattern designed to provide a good ``all `round`` performance in dry and wet weather. The tread pattern also helps to keep down road noise. These tires have the hardest compounds and longest life. All Weather tires are relatively new to the market, perhaps 5 years. They have a much `blockier`tread pattern, and softer compound. The blockier tread and softer compound provides better steering and stopping performance in wet weather (and slush) however the compromise is they are noisier and have shorter life. Winter tires, I think most are familiar with. They have in general a uniform block tread with a much softer compound. They offer significant improvement in grip, steering and stopping distance in ice and snow however they are noisier and have much shorter life. If you are buying Winter tires spend a few hundred dollars more and get a set of dedicated rims. Your tires will last longer not being taken on and off twice a year but the changeover is significantly less expensive. Just a note on Winter tires. It is not the air temps that kill them it`s the temp of the road so get them on when the road temps have had a chance to cool down and more important get èm off before the roads heat up! I have had customers drive to Florida on Winters stay for a few months and complain when they get back that their tires are wearing too fast...
