Are you referring to an angler selling his catch? Or, did you mean that it is illegal to sell any species classified as a game fish? It is definitely illegal for the average joe to sell his catch. However, game fish such as rainbow trout are sold legally in Ontario.

Yes, it is legal. Largemouth are often farm raised for retail. Were the fish all approximately the same size? If so, that would indicate that they were farm fish.

If you are referring to sales taxes, the retailer generally wouldn't have to pay tax on goods purchased for resale. Depending on the tax juristiction they either wouldn't pay tax on the goods to begin with (Ontario PST for example); or in some cases they would pay the tax up front but deduct it from future tax payments (GST and HST for example). In either case the retailer would have effectively not paid tax on the goods that he ships to you. A mail order retailler may not be responsible for collecting sales taxes on goods that he ships to you. If you ordered from a retailer in your state/provice you would most likely have to pay the local taxes. If you ordered from outside your state/province they may not be required to charge you the taxes. So yes, it is possible to make a legit mail order purchase without paying taxes. p.s. you may have slipped a decimal place on your previous post. I don't see how 10% of $100/month = $1,320/per year.

I took an outboard repair course at the Ashtonbe campus of Centennial College (Warden & Eglinton area). That was back in the 90's though. I am not sure if they still offer it.

I am pretty sure that I read that the 6 mph within 100' feet of shore does not apply when a lake or river is less than 200' wide. That doesn't change the fact that its his responsibility to keep a proper lookout (Does he know why spotters are required when pulling a skier?) and to avoid a boat that is not under power. A boater is also responsable for any damage his wake causes.

I have had problems with my Suzuki loosing power at top end a few times. Twice it was because of faulty spark plugs; I swtiched from NGKs to Champions as per the marina owner recommendation and haven't had this problem since. Another time it was the fuel filter; a good cleaning solved that problem. Take a look at the plugs. In my case the fauly plugs were black and wet while the good plugs were dry and grey.

You can pick up Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries in AA & AAA sizes for a pretty reasonable price. That is what I use for my camera. I like the AA format because I can always pickup some alkalines in pinch or share the camera batteries with other stuff.

I need to replace the battery for my ADT home alarm system. Does anyone know battery supplier in the Toronto area that would stock these types of batteries? I work in North York and live in Scarborough. I would prefer something in the eastern half of the GTA. ADT's warehouse is in Missassauga, I am hoping that I can find a place closer to home.

That depends on whether you are charging them the $75 after the fact or the actual cost of putting out the fire. I am not sure what the actual cost of responding to the fire is but I believe that someone did mention $3,000. If people knew they would be hit with a $3,000 bill or may more after the fact, then I think they may be inclined to pay the $75 annual fee. I still think they should add $75 to the property taxes and just do their best to put out all fires.

I have a 2005 GMC Jimmy with the the same engine. Actually I think the front half of the truck is pretty much the same as an S10. I don't know exactly how much mileage I get but I know it sucks.

I can understand not wanting to keep the fish out of water to for too long; but is there any scientific basis for keeping it out of the water for the amount of time that you can hold your breath? A sperm whale can hold its breath for two hours, a salt water crocodile can hold its breath for three hours. Is there any reason to beleive that a muskie's who has just fought a hard battle can survice out of water for the same length of time as the person who caught it can hold their breath? I am sure that the less time they spend out of water the better. Holding your breath while you hold them out of the water may encourage you to put them back sooner; if so that is beneficial. However, as for there being any actual correlation between a muskie's ability to survice out of water and a persons ability to hold their breath; I find this very doubtful. Who knows, that may be too long for a muskie to be out of water after a long battle.

I wouldn't bother trying to recharge your deep cycle batteries from the gas motor. You will probably put far more hours on the bow mount than you put on the gas motor. I estimate that I put more than ten time the hours on my bow mount than I put on my gas motor. The little bit of charge that you would get form the gas motor isn't going to make enough difference to notice. If you have room for two batteries then I would go with the 24 volt. I run a 12 volt myself because my battery compartment is only designed for one battery.

Also, aren't Mepps made in France? Sorry to subtract from instead of adding to the list. Are Misty River boats still around? They are or were made in Winnipeg. Are Harbercrat and Stanley boats Canadian? How about York River and Swift canoes? I think Walker Downriggers in Canadian; I am not sure if they make them here though.

I think these may be quite a bit different than triploids. I read an article about these fast growing salmon a few years ago. It was due to flounder DNA being added to the salmon. It didn't see this mentioned in the article but I expect that is what these fish are.

Dipsy Divers and Jet Divers are another option. There were some portable downriggers in the classified section; I am not sure if they are still available... that would be another option.

Some motors in that size range can be converted; but that means additional expenses.

If I remember correctly; the true blue walleye also didn't have the white spot on it's tail. This is in addition to it being smaller with larger eyes place more on top of it's head.

When I installed my electric bow mount in the mid-ninties I used regular outdoor wire from Home Depot and ran it under the floor from the stern to the bow. I had the boat up last year and it never gave me a problem. Luckily Alumicraft had ran ABS pipe from stern to bow so it made running the wire a little easier. That and two extra circuits pre-wired at the bow were a nice touch.

I plan to take the train ride up the Agawa Canyon. I will need a place to stay for the night in Sault. Does anybody have any recommendations? Nothing fancy, just a need a place to sleep. We plan to head home through Michegan and cross back into Ontario through Detroit. I plan a visit to Cabela's. Are there any points between Sault & Detroit that we should make a point of seeing?

I would be cautious about using antifreeze. I understand that dogs (and I would assume other animals) drink it and it is fatal to them.

I was told to tie a piece of string to the strap to stop the buzzing sound. I guess there is more than one way to skin a cat. Canadian tire sells inflatable roof racks. I think they are about $100 on sale. They may be a good choice for your van.

I don't think the extra weight will have much impact. With an 800 lb boat, 250 lb motor, 2 batteries, anchor, electic bow mount, 2 or 3 people, and a bunch more equipment; how much difference is another 40 pounds of gas going to make? Disadvantage - you are required to carry a fire extinguisher. Advantage - if your boat catches on fire you can put it out because you have a fire extinguisher on board Advantage - increase range, less clutter in the boat
