I don't think you will have much control of the boat unless you have a lot of thrust... say a 100 lbs for a 17' boat for example. This will provide a very limited range of motion compared to a transom mounted electric. It difficult enough to steer in the wind with a transom mount that can be turned a full 360; this one would be even worse.

Things are rarely as extreme as they are hyped up to be. I am sure that will include asian carp in the great lakes. I have heard many times that the asian carp will eat all of the plankton so there will be none left for the other species and all the other fish will starve ... wouldn't the asian carp all starve to death too? I am sure they will have a significant impact on the ecosystem. They may reduce or eliminate certain species; but not all species. But they won't be as devastating as they have been made out to be.

I would do it; but I wouldn't pay $175 to do it. I have always thought they should build a roller coaster that starts from the top of the CN Tower... now that would be a ride.

I have never burn anywhere near a tank of oil per tank of gas. This was with a 5 gallon portable tank. A large built in tank may be different. It wouldn't be too hard to calculate the ratio of gas to oil. Start with both tanks full. Keep track of how much gas and oil you have to add to keep the tanks full. That will give you your ratio of oil to gas. Most oil injected engines vary the ratio depending on speed. So you won't know exactly how much it should have consumed; but, at least you can see if it is using a reasonable amount of oil.

I have personally never had any issues when I have mixed brands of oils. However, I have been told that it can cause the oil to gel and not flow properly.

Bait casters will cast some of the larger baits much better. E.g. I find that a large Suick will be fowled more often than not if I try casting it with a spinning reel. Spinning reels cast small light baits much better than bait casters.

Actually they will run well below the mid point. I understand from those who run camera's that the cheaters will run about 5' above the ball. I would assume that the further back the ball is behind the boat the deeper the cheeter will run. If had a downrigger weight that was heavey and streamlined enough to run directly under boat then the cheeter would indeed stop have way down. However, every down rigger cable that I have ever seen has been pretty far from vertical... thus the cheeters run deeper than mid-way between the surface and the ball.

Preferably the back of your hand so that it doesn't melt everything that you touch.

If you are using "Glides-Ons" do you really need the carpet? When I replaced the bunks on my old trailer I just put Glide-Sliks on the wood and didn't bother with carpet.

I was told by the APS rep at the Sportsman show a few year back the APS motors came out of the same factory as Mercury motors. I believe that small Merc's and Nissans are made by Tohatsu. If this is the case then you may be able to use Mercury parts. I never did any research to confirm that what he told me was true; it is just what I was told.

If you are worried about the roof racks being pulled off then open the doors and run the ropes or straps under the roof through the doors. Straps would probably be a better choice as there is less thickness to worry about when closing the door. You can tie the ends of the canoe to the roof racks them selves instead of tied them to the bumpers.

No, you couldn't possess more than one limit; but you could possess a limit from the zone with the highest limit... unless the CO had evidence that you caught them in a zone with a lower limit.

Thanks for the replies. I upgraded both Firefox and IE; Google Maps works on both of them. I guess they may have made a change to the web site that requires that can't be handled by old broswers.

No, it is Google Maps that is giving me a problem. Firefox crashes when I try to access it, IE doesn't crash but it doesn't work either. With IE I get a message stating that they don't have maps at this zoom level for this region. This all started a few days ago. I am running Firefox 3.0

Is it just my computer of is there something up with Google Maps? Everytime I try to use Google Maps my Firefox crashes. IE didn't crash but it didn't display a map.

I have never owned an HP Laptop but I have had poor experiences with their desk tops. My wife's Acer webbook has been fine. It was amusing how the manual contained a letter from one of Acer's executives thanking us for buying their product. I am not sure the person was male or female but their names was Easy Lai. I do recall a proposal that would allow stores to keep the fish alive in the tanks but require them to kill the fish before the they sold it. I am not sure if that ever became law.

Is it a 24 volt motor? If so, did you connect the batter in parallel instead of in series? Start with the easy stuff before you start taking your motor apart.

I used to carry my float tube on my mountain bike. I don't that would be too easy with a pontoon boat. The float tube wins on portability. I haven't tried fishing from a pontoon so I cannot compare how they perform on the water.

So if you want one of their boats you better get it soon. Sounds like their entire production staff will be gone in the next 5-10 years.

Are you referring to the ones that you sit in and paddle with your feet? The OP is planning to build a boat that he can spend the night in... I don't think you'll find too many boats suitable for overnight accomodation for $300.
