Looking is a good way to find them lol, But I stopped down there the other day at the York bridge on the way to my parents and caught 2 smallies there in a matter of 15 mins then went and got tons on Erie.

Try drifting with Erie Deries tipped with a worm or minnow or dipsey divers with a micheal jackson spoon.
-
Mepps spinners, tube jigs and yum dingers or slammers for drop shot.

I had similar problems with the Suffix 832. I also found that the gore in the line was to be a pain allowing the ling the braid to slide up the gore and wrinkle when it snapped. I won't be using it again thats forsure.

Glad to hear no one was hurt and better yet you still have a great time even with the problems. That little guys smile sure does say it all. He will love fishing forever I'm sure.

How to get the best tasting fish to bring home
Live2fish85 replied to scugpg's topic in General Discussion
I usually cut the gill them and cut them then throw the on ice or as you said the ice blocks will work but gillin them an gutting them wont allow them to go bad as fast and to bleed them out you can cut where the gill come together on the bottom. -
Great Report and great pics. Thoughs are some nice eyes and pike. Nice job with the hook as well.

I agree with Jedimaster Sundin was good but nothing to compare to Gilmour, Clarke, Sittler they all had a love for the game and true heart Mats didn't have that he was skilled and that's about it. Gilmour was the last truely good player for the leafs. And kessel is a usless twit. He won't ever do anything for a team as long as they don't have someone willing to skate it up and pass it to kessel he's nothing. Kessel is a chicken. I know Kessel has skill but the balls aren't there or the true heart. IMO.

That's a good one lol. Thank you for sharing.

Yea like they all said above you need to give it time till you feel tension on the line I don't count but if my lure doesn't pop back up to the surface in the normal time it takes after a miss strike I set the hook sometimes they don't give line a tug at all. Just don't react so quick. Like Musky Mike said you can count to but I find if the lure doesn't surface after then go ahead and set the hook.

Great Report. Sounds like you enjoyed yourself.

That's a hog way to go.

I see something similar out on Lake Erie and it's usually the algae from the shores and points that are covered in it and when a storm or strong wind happen it tends to mess up the water good. I haven't had it effect the fishing though other then it getting on the lure but the fish are all around and even hide under the clups of it.

Great Report. That looks like one hell of a trip.

Well I got out a little late saturday, my buddy and I got to Long Point around 4pm and we were on the water not long after. It was the first time I have fished from long point that I can remember, Also the first time I have targeted largemouth in the grass and shallows like that. Wasn't to long before I have one on. Wasn't a big one but a good feeling getting it. Didn't get to much action after for a bit so moved further into the weeds and I changed my bait, not long after that and I got another. Wasn't the action that I'm used to with smallmouth at my parents on erie but was better then I was expecting. Ended the day around 8:30pm due to a good storm that came in fast, I caught 7 and my buddy got 3. We ended up staying the night out in Port Rowan and realized that the town isn't much of a tourist town 9:30pm and nothing open not a place to get a beer lol. Well we went to the only place open, Godfathers pizza had a slice and back to sleep in the truck. We got up at 5:30am and were on the water in no time. Today was a better day for me got to try somemore things and really utilize my new to me rod and reel thanks to Uglyfish. It worked great and had no problems rippin the bass through the weeds. We fished until about 1:30pm today. Today the count was 8 for me a 3 again for my friend. I lost a couple in the weeds today but had more action also. Well I ended up getting back in to Stoney Creek to find out that the wife and I had to go out to my parents to pick up the daughter. Darn lol I got to go to Lake Erie agian lol. Well I got out there and hung out with the daughter for a bit and then went out for some smallmouth with my dad, I took him to one of my spots, He's not a big fisherman and doesn't care to lol. We ended up bringing in 13 in less then a hour 11 me and 2 him we both lost a couple, none were big but it was nice to get out with him. All in all it's been a damn good Canada Day weekend. Now some Long Point pics Some of Saturdays Catches Some of Todays Catches Here was a double header we got and the only one Hope you enjoy and hopefully I'll have some more soon. Thanks Chris
