  2. Great news me brudder...I'm still amazed how well I see now after wearing glasses for over 65 years (except when I forget where I left my reading glasses) Maribeth goes to have one of her cataracts removed near the end of the month or in May...
  3. Cliff:...That wisecrack was meant for Steve (CPH)...I wouldn't kid you about your weight...that would be like calling the kettle black... Passed my seniors driver's test...I can drive for two more years !!!...Get the kids off the road...LOL
  4. my speedo just doesn't fit like it used too What did you do ?...Lose weight ?...Will we recognize you ? (just joking!))
  5. On the way home from 'Caygeon I noticed the water was at the top of the docks at Pirates Cove near Nogies Creek... Same thing at our lagoon at the north shore of Taites Bay...some docks were even submerged... A friend told us her dock on Big Bald was submerged also... The swamp just west of Flynn's Corners was up and over Country Road 36...
  6. We was robbed !!!...First you can't slide into the catcher if he is blocking the plate... now you can't touch the second base man to break up a double play...Baseball is becoming a game for pussies...
  7. See what happens when you live close to Big Cliff...some of him rubs off...LOL Good on you Ernie...
  8. 04:00 PM on Sportsnet and they are off and running for another season...another like last year or better would be GREAT !!!
  9. Good ones !!! I used to sow my wild oats when I was younger...Nowadays at my age in the spring I get to spread grass seed where the dog was peeing...Oh well...it was fun while it lasted (Sigh*)
  10. My heels get calloused and cracked...every six weeks my podiatrist uses a tool like a Dremmel grinder to smooth them then I have been using O'Keefes foot cream along with a pummice stone...seems to be working well...any excess left over I use on my hands...LOL
  11. Saturday my bro-in-law Dave and I did a little bopping around the country side and the north end of Pigeon Lake was still frozen over with a few feet of open water along the shoreline...Upper and Lower Buckhorn looked to be open water everywhere... Tuesday afternoon I had an appointment with my cardiologist in Peterborough and noticed that Chemong was wide open...Lower Pigeon was free of ice...Today, I stopped by the Pigeon Lake (north shore) and there was still some ice out further than Saturday but not quite ice free yet...
  12. Thanks for all the birthday wishes guys and gals...Maribeth took me to the Cody Inn for a great Chinese scoff for me and she had the sea bass dinner...M'God. the fish damn near took up the whole plate... 80 Years Old !!!...I didn't think I would make it to 50 they way I drank and smoked at one time years ago...I guess that makes me about the oldest OFC member on the board...
  13. This is a shot of the north shoreline, there is a thin shell of ice near shore but the lake proper is still covered: A shot from our launch at the lagoon: Probably a couple of weeks before the lake itself will be clear...
  14. I read that Cook's Bay was about 40 % clear of ice this morning...I hope to get down to the north shore of Pigeon tomorrow to take a couple of pictures...
  15. Like Big Cliff, I have my phone, tv, and p'uter with Cable Cable...he is on the east shore of Sturgeon Lake and I am on the north shore of Pigeon...Only problem is when the power goes down, then we ain't got nuttin'...LOL Hey Cap'n...I think the old antenaes are out of date due to digital versus analog ???...Besides CHEX is no longer a CBC station (CTV now)
  16. If you gets to port Medway say hello to my friend Dan Sinclair...
  17. Nice...I would volunteer to help move but I find my cane gets in the way of carrying anything heavier than a lampshade...LOL
  18. I can taste them now...steamed with a fresh chopped garlic/ginger sauce and garnished with sliced green onions...
  19. Well...You are finally making a move (not that I'm happy to hear this but we wish you and Sue all the best. ) The reason we bought this place was because it was a half an hour to Jack and Jackie's place and a half an hour to yours... I still remember the day you put the dock in and Jack and I manned the BBQ...and the days the three of us put in getting the "Tin of Beans" seaworthy... Yep, I gots lots of memories of you also...how about the fish and chips from "Just for the Halibut" the six of us partaked of at our place... Best of luck my friend...sigh*
  20. Welcome to the board neighbor...I am one lake downstream from you (Pigeon)...
  21. Unless things have changed in the past few years or so, you don't need a salt water license to fish off the pay-as-you-go fishing piers...You can usually buy bait at the store where you pay your admission... Like said above, use salt water hooks and sliding sinkers with about a three foot fluoresant leader and a swivel...learn the species you can catch and size limits...also, rinse off your tackle with fresh water when you are finished each day... Have fun !!!
  22. As long as the 3 year old is a resident of Ontario, she has her own equivalant of a sportfishing license ( not conservation)...I won't comment on the 3 week old...
  23. Switched from 8.1 to windows 10 with no problem... Have run into the odd site that is not compatable with "Edge"...I then go to MSN site and recall the site from there...
  24. Darn that Sue...shrinking all your clothes like that...LOL
  25. Nice to hear you got some Cliff...Will be messy out there today and God knows what the shoreline will be like...
