  1. My Brother and I took to the ATV's to travel the first 600m of trails, then took to foot as we walked down the not-yet-trailed escarpement leading to the small river that crosses a large section of my property. Twice we made the trip this year. Both times the skitters, blackflies and friggen no-see-ems were out in full force; both times the specks were bitting! We had great action the first time, at the peak of blackfly season, averaging 11 inch specks with a few 14 inch specks mixed in. This time we hit the river during a strong rainfall, the action wasn't as hot, but we came home with two 13 inchers. This girl attacked both my ATV and my dog. Oh, and here's my new catch. 9 day old girl! I just have to comment on how amazing mom's are... all the bush work and employement work I do pales in comparison to the amount of effort, concentration and strength it takes to be a nursing mom (and at every other stage I'm sure).
  2. A good way to attract company! After years of only drinking green tea in the morning, I'm starting to switch back to coffee...making it at home for the first time using a $5 french press. Best part of my coffee is the homemade maple syrop shot I add to each cup
  3. If this model was released last year there is a good chance I would have bought it over the Cherokee Trailhawk
  4. So, what if I just never return to work. Do mortgages pay off themselves??

I heard rumours of a bonus coming your way....

  5. Nuggets? Did you really find anything bigger than flecks, or nothing at all? Sweet looking spot!
  6. $500 off your paycheck, do you get paid once every two months? CPP isn't nearly that high, the provincial program will be less than CPP I'm sure.
  7. Awesome Nick. That boy is gonna love nature when he grows up. My first father's day... She's only 6 days old, so I'm not expecting any really good lures, maybe some walleye rigs or something....
  8. Thats a nice pile of fish photos! Seems the walleye were caught quite close to shore, as would be expected this time of year
  9. Its safe to say it's not a commercial net. Those are monitored quite closely, tagged, accounted for when missing etc. I've heard of a few instances were guys set nets, get caught in dangerous situations (like weather, too heavy of nets) and they end up leaving them. Basically it's a miscalculation (or ignorance) on their part. Still lots of people netting the lake under their 'personal' rights and they are not all experienced and well-calculated. Also, sometimes, poop happens that you can't control.
  10. ya, they never open up comments to these types of artcles, as much as there are brutal posters on that site, it would nice to open it up to some discussion...with fair moderation. i'm disgusted by that photo. Most likely it was left there due to equipment breakdown (boat), bad weather or plain ignorance.
  11. Yup, the futility of it all is what drove my decision. My single vote has not made the Liberals opposition any more palatable. Give me better options and I'll show support. Like JoeyT said, as a rural resident, not looking forward to paying for items in the GTA. I hope Nipissing district gets a 'Northern Ontario' party next election. It would be nice to have a local leader that actually represents the north.
  12. You haven't looked up 'declined' ballot yet have you? They don't throw them in the garbage. hahaha. Time for some reading Cliffy They get counted and are a valid voting option as is written within the electoral legislation. It's not going to happen, but if 'declined' won the majority of a riding, I can guarantee there would be consequences. All you are telling me by saying that any valid voting option is a waste is : vote PC, vote PC, vote PC. Some people don't want to support the local or provincial PC's, Libs, Green or NDP and my ballot had no other options. At least my opinion was counted unlike a non-vote. I'm ok with the message it sent, as insignificant as it may be. I'll bet this election has more declines than ever seen before. It will show disatisfaction with the
  13. That's a good dozen days! Nice job on that walleye tourney. Impressive!
  14. I think the PC's will get a minority. Hope they do a better job over the next four years. Having the two left parties as opposition will luckily make it difficult for them to get some of their crazier ideas pushed through. I really hope the left doesn't make a coalitian; that would be a disgrace. I declined my ballot, which to me is essentially a vote for PC since I think the liberals will get third place.
  15. If that RAV is anything like my Corolla, it'll be trouble free for years! Good buy.
  16. Must be a cloud of stuff flying around...I got it too. You guys are more than great for doing what you did to get him on the water. Well worth the effort, obviously! Sounds like the RT's, OT's and funding have been very positive for your family. Glad to hear! Money well spent.
  17. It's called decling, not destroying a ballot. If the declines consume a lot of the ballots, people in power or coming into power will look closely at those numbers and the overall sentiment it represents. The three major parties will contiuously swap positions as they have for years. I'd rather decline, join a movement (that isn't a meaningless internet petition) and hope for real change in politics, even if it is a lofty and long-term goal. Maybe in 15 years there will be other viable options, political money would flow away from those who have used politics/government illegitemately for their own profit/interests...or in this case, flow away from parties that are each incompetent in their own special ways. As someone who's voted since I've been eligible, I must admit it's difficult convincing yourself to not vote for a party and continue playing defensive or offensive politics.
  18. Decline the ballot, dont spoil it. If you don't like your choices why would you vote for any party. And by the way this isnt a war torn country, this is a canadian system I dont care what you think about 'wasting ' a vote or thereafter not having the right to an opinion. Decling a ballot is within our rights and has just as much legitamacy as any other choice. I dont know why you feel any anger against a member of the public making a legitimate choice yet you can vote for a party you dont actually believe in. Let people make their own choices and get off your soapbox.
  19. Very much considering a 'declined ballot', so ya, maybe the campaigns helped me choose none of the above.
  20. You guys certainly aren't afraid to travel and chase down the fish... You loving the new boat?
  21. 5kph: my favorite forecast. Great catch
