  1. Three years ago in a mess of confusion I had left my tackle bag and my new rod/reel combo near the dock of a lodge. (a friend was supposed to get all the gear and blah blah) I came back the next day and it was GONE. It's my own stupid fault, but it was a small lodge with mostly "regulars" and no one fessed up to taking my stuff, even the owners seemed disappointed. I was not happy, and I'm still recovering from that loss. My name was all over the gear with my phone number and everything. I learned a solid lesson that day.
  2. I don't make jigs so I can't help you with those details...but I've been using luremaking.com for some time and i can tell you they have good customer service, ship materials on time and are a pleasure to deal with. Most of the time their prices can't be beat. A good Canadian company overall.
  3. Is that modified milk crate included in the deal?
  4. Pike: All teeth and no consideration for anybody's stream.
  5. That's gotta be over 200lbs of musky.
  6. That's a big pike for such a small stream. He WAS king of the water....you must have thought you had a monster trout.
  7. Small ones are mighty tasty! I ate a bunch from the Ottawa and Rice this year. I wouldn't eat the bigger chan cats...they have tougher and older meat, just like other fish species. Farmed fish are different, they are fed a specific diet and don't reach 20years old.
  8. I've had troubles catching consistent fish in that lake. I thought your subject line was litteral and I was waiting for pictures of huge flames on the surface of the lake. Good job you did what I couldn't.
  9. They look like rubber and taste like rubber.
  10. They definitly were not caught on January first. Wrong date on camera for sure.
  11. Wind was brutal in Kawarthas yesterday wasn't it? We got blasted in a 14 tinny on Rice. Like you we managed to catch a few. Good job on changing tactics and being persistant. Good company keeps things warmer everytime.
  12. Thanks all. Had a good day on Rice yesterday. 57 cm walleye was our best...too wet, windy and cold for the cameras though.
  13. Nice cats! I'd trade the furball terror I have for those anyday! (GF says no tho)
  14. First thing I noticed was the blue walleye! Hope you did some arm stretches before you guys started fishing.
  15. Bright colors on those fish.
  16. I'm near Barrie now days. I've lived in Alberta and am originally from North Bay. Discovered the Kawarthas for the first time this year and spent LOTS of time there....can't get enough. Tourney on Stoney Lake Sept 25th and 26th!
  17. I don't own a GPS...how about general directions? Drive 3365 kms Northwest, turn east at the oil sands, first large lake on North side, find a weedbed that juts out 100yrds and cast at the drop off. You should have no problem finding it.
  18. A good photo of the "blue ink" http://2.bp.blogspot...06Image0130.JPG
  19. I agree, try calling the MNR in the Nipissing region to get an opinion. I'm sure they'd love to hear from you. Very good thread by the way. We caught some "blue" looking walleye in Northern Alberta a few years ago, I tend to think it was just a pigment thing and not a true blue. My friend has a picture of a "blue" walleye near Loring, ON in winter. It is on the ice and the snow is stained deep blue from the fish...that fish makes me wonder. Nipissing also has Blue Perch, we caught them this winter in bunches. They would stain our counters when cleaning them...wonder if that's a related issue at all.
  20. Agreed. The photo was severly cropped, I'll have to use photo bucket next time.
  21. That's a big Silver Pike! Do you hold the official line class record or was your fish big enough to it could have been? That's sweet if you do.
  22. Beautiful fish. So tasty. Good call on dropping your lures past the thermocline.
  23. Hey all! Thanks for letting me join this forum, I look forward to reading your posts as a non-creeper ie: registered user. I even spent some time reading old posts and I believe I've got a handle of how she works here. You know what I found the most entertaining? Reading the locked threads...there are some funny and off the wall comments in those. Very entertaining and humbling. I'll post up my reports and fishing pics as they come in, for now I'll just post one old pic, no point in recycling all my past photos. Enjoy the pike Cheers, Rod Caster
