  1. Nice Simon Blue zone in first class
  2. great shots. Raptors are such an amazingly graceful species.
  3. nice bassin', and cool thread. Thanks
  4. Starcraft fan. On my second. First one I bought used at 10 years old and sold after 4 years. Sold it to a guy I met on OFC, and we stay in touch regularly. He says the same (which is nice to know). For some reason they don't seem to be as strong a seller in Canada as the US, but if you look around on some of the US sites and see how many 20, 30 year old Starcrafts are sill going strong, that speaks for itself imo. PS - I would be waiting till December - Feb time frame to buy now if I were you - with a provision for a sea trial.
  5. beauty spot. great day on the water.
  6. . I wonder how water tight that cable assembly is? That is a mod for sure - look at the two capped ports in the middle of the extension. ot sure I would want to prime that engine in 5 foot swells
  7. Exactly. Let the fish do their thing and maybe we can have a stronger fishery at significantly lower cost. Passing new rules to limit this annual travesty will be a great step forward, It will be enforcing it that will be the challenge. The poachers wont care about getting up at 3:00 am to do the desecration. Will the by law officers be there ? And will the punishment be enough to make it hurt? As for the Atlantics re-establishing in Lake O. Unfortunately the lake and tribs have changed too much for that to happen. Count the catches after the millions that have been stocked. Great idea, but not practical.
  8. fish fry! Awesome -stuff.Hopefully this weekend we don't need winter jackets......
  9. Knowing that this would not be a quick read, I saved reading it till I had time. Stellar. Thanks for putting that together. Quite the year you have put together.
  10. congrats on the PB. Nice fish
  11. Yeah, what he said. damn that's gonna be sore for a while
  12. I knew that one would get your attention BB. East coast comfort food there...brought back all kinds of memories... Its called Cioppino. Amazing spicy garlic and tomato base with fresh fish, mussels, clams, calamari, dungeness crab and more. No need for noodles with the hot fresh sourdough - soaks up the broth doing some research on the 'net this weekend to find a comparable recipe.
  13. Had to attend some training in San Fran. What a city! This is one of the few times I wish I had something with some lenses, filters and power. As it was, I had to rely on the old P&S Fresh from the sea today - with fresh sour dough bread.... ummmmmmm for 15 bucks you get a 1 hour tour of the bay - out under the bridge, around Alcatraz and back, In the morning they do Salmon charters. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity take advantage of that - 150 bucks from 6:00 till noon. Not sure how many anglers they take, but they got a whack of rod holders around the boat! As it was a work trip I really had very little time to see it - gotta go back. with time
  14. Nice shot - not as outstanding as the one you got up on Nipigon ( I really likes that one), but still great detail given the circumstances - and just s little more convenient.
  15. yeah, well, Thanks Simon - a lot of that is life from G's perspective - combined with we weren't really ready for the filming session. Had the cameras, but we weren't setup up quite yet..... got a bit to learn before we make an entry for TIFF I think My initial choice in music was the cause of the censorship - as it turns out, both tunes. So the tune that the title of the thread was referencing also had to go Lesson learned re: Youtube - check the details on the video manager screen before releasing.... in all the learning curve challenges of moving to movies, looks like I forgot one of the nicest fish of the weekend and now its off to work for another week. Gotta pay for all those miles on the boat this weekend.
  16. OK , hopefully that one passes the constraints of copyright
  17. you too, huh? Grr. Back to the drawingboard. Worked for me. Give me another couple hours,,,,, Gotta be Clapton, cause the I know the other one works
  18. In the opening scene, fish is on rod one 12:00 high, rod 2 fires on the top right, and the dipsy fires off camera two seconds later. - you can see G working this rod in the reflection on the rod holder. Not one of these fish was less than 8 minutes coming in and a couple were pushing 20.
  19. nice way to start a relaxed holiday Monday - coffee in hand, and a guided trip through Bunks natural history museum of gar.
  20. Triple header on Lake O today :)

      Nice Rick. That's encouraging.

  21. great shot!
  22. I had 2 Fuji's - same as Brian's. Liked the pic quality, waterproof, shock proof, and lots of different modes including pano - but both died within 12 months. Second one was the replacement for the first one's extended warranty. Now working on a Ricoh WG-4. So far so good, more settings than I will ever explore, but doesn't have pano mode, and only a 4x zoom. . It does have a unique feature for super up close that I haven't used yet. This site is pretty good for comparison when I was looking http://www.cnet.com/news/best-waterproof-rugged-cameras-and-camcorders-compared/
  23. Awesome! Congrats on a great trip and the PB. Note to self - bookmark under "bucket list" Love the way you put the story together too - great read
  24. There are a couple brands on the market like the Blacks or Chamberlain release http://www.downriggerrelease.com/ the release mechanism is adjustable by turning a knob. With a weigh scale you can set the tension for the type of fish you are targeting - say 4 lbs for walley, 8lbs for kings. You can also combine this with different weight rubber bands to work with your target species http://www.michigansportsman.com/Tips_n_Trix/rubber_band_releases.htm ideally, enough resistance to load up the rod into an "n" shape, you will see a shaker swimming, (or one of those come-along walleyes) and a real fish will pop it every time.
  25. Great day - man I miss those outings! There is still hope (even if I have to drive to Port Hope)
