  1. Fwiw. Heliocoil is pretty common for motorcycle engines for the sparkplugs. If you can't find a marina to do it, try a motorcycle shop.
  2. That is one situation where turning it over to insurance may pay benefits, provided you are willing to push. They don't want to pay a claim either. If you have a broker push. And don't take no for an answer. The insurance company has the power to get the vendor to cover the claim. Feel free to pm me if you want to chat about strategy and what to say.

  4. Been a long time since I stopped by, saw this, and kinda felt I would actually comment: I 100% get your concerns. Who needs this kinda crap anytime anywhere, but especially while trying to chill out and relax? Two things occur to me, 1, honestly, I suspect this fella may have some emotional issues that he is acting out like that, and 2: I was sitting in Bazil's with a friend and coffee Thinking the world a fine place to be When the man on my right got up to leave And left a piece of his mind with me He said, "faggots like you should be put in asylums" Tell me, who takes the blame For his being scared, so unaware That he'd fire his fear without an ounce of shame Whatever happened to love thy neighbor? Nothing more than a worn out cliche Are all men created equal or has this too become passe You don't need to open your mouth for me to read your lips I can follow the language displayed on your finger tip They don't look before they leap And they don't think before they speak They just sharpen their tongues on you and me Spit poison darts between perfect teeth You've got to take it from the source And look at where it's coming from You're got to take it from the source They're only wasted words on me Spirit of the West I'd ignore him
  5. Other half snapped these last night - Cooper's, sharp shinned or?

  7. season is starting to wind down, , but it doesn't matter how many times I see it- the best way to start the day
  8. No downriggers? https://www.precisiontrollingdata.com/ Strategies: http://www.bluehorizonsportfishing.net/Keating-on-Kings.html Wind direction is key. Of all the go / no-go input factors, wind direction is #1 and yes, on the right day anyone can catch 'em. all day long. Don't be discouraged - I've been out with the best charter capts and seen them struggle - 3 in an 8 hour day (I know, I'm blessed), and the same guy slam them all day long. FWIW my biggest fish hit on a bright sunny day after 12:00 noon with almost no wind.......and the 2nd biggest after noon on a semi overcast day with no wind. Time on the water. just cruising by, BB.......winds
  9. ah, well guess some of us just have to look deeper to discover, eh? The recipe linked shows it all. How's the armchair? Only takes a couple cancer diagnosis for some of us to consider broadening our menu, huh?
  10. The answer lies within Grasshooper.Seek that which is underscored and all will be explained,,,,,
  11. so, after yesterday's bountiful experience, I wanted a change from the old fish in a pan, stumbled across a recipe and, well, I'll let the pictures say the rest
  12. June was a bit of a drag with some intermittent motor problems. Lost quite a few days tracking down fuel flow issues. Fortunately my local marina treats me well and we seem to have tracked down the issue after a couple visits, The lakes are definitely not were they usually are for this time of year, and after a few unremarkable outings on Ontario, last week I decided to turn my attention the to other pond to the South, despite mixed reports. I was greeted with my first skunk of the year. Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.” ― Nelson Mandela So, I got my butt outa bed before I used to get into it as a young man, poured a couple coffees to go and hauled me and Ms Ann Thrope down to the pickereye pond for another kick at the can. A slow start, trying to figure them out again, but we put together a pattern after a bit, and I was home just after the non-angling community was having lunch We beat old sunny to the stage and watched as he crested. Wasn't one of his more colourful outings, but always find watching the sunrise (or set) to be therapeutic. At one point I got socked in by a fog. Kept my fingers crossed the trawlers were in other waters and got my wish Got one old warhorse that gave a good fight and went back to make a few more, and kept a couple for the plate, and other obligations. Let the good times roll.
  13. PEI in July..... I'm thinking Lobster. That second pics is great. The people in the foreground just need a fire going......
  14. bet not long after that it was sailing backwards.....nice orange slice
  15. a couple seconds earlier, passing under the skyway bridge
  16. the contrast on this is very cool! Looks like it was a bit of a roller day?
  17. Getting closer.... 4:35 depart from home. next week I should beat it to the lighthouse
  18. Port Colborne Buoy. Add it to the info from Windfinder. Gives you now versus forecast, Add that to your personal experiences from the lake. Understand how topography will affect the winds where you want to launch, and how far out you want to head.. Overtime you can predict pretty close what it is gonna be.
  19. Good news on the outing with your Dad, some solid info from along time member there - every one of those outings is worth a hundred solo trips.. As for your initial question - hitting the big lake in an 18 ftr, its not a problem, so long as you are willing to invest a little time to learn what the water conditions will be like based on the available information -- and respect the resource I hit both big lakes regularly with my 18ftr. The internet has a ton of info. I like Windfinder personally. It misses once in a while, but not often. Learn what wind speeds and directions on your forecast site mean on the lake. And if you are going out on a day when a couple Ks change in the wind makes a difference to your safety - ask yourself why? If I have a west wind at 5k, and it doubles, or even triples, depending on where I am I know I don't have to worry. If it says 25k, there's other things to do with my life. I also have a VHF, and at this time of year when the heat and humidity can drive storm cells up from nowhere in a flash I am listening to the weather channel, the anglers, and watching the lake and skys for signs I gotta get off. I have been chased off a couple times, so far, so good, an nothing serious or even white knuckle worthy. Just time to go.Have I pulled off for nothing more than once. Yup. But you only get one chance to do it too late. Don't play games with the water - a fish ain't worth it. There are incredible fishing opportunities on the big lakes you can't get anywhere else around here. Just respect the winds, waves and water. If you are interested in Erie at this end, spend some time on the long point forum, or there are a few facebook pages that are pretty easily discovered or, send me a PM, and I'll take you out one day and we can chat.
