  1. Kind of a cool site. With (fish) trolling season coming soon, thought a few folks here might find this interesting https://www.batterystuff.com/kb/tools/calculator-sizing-a-battery-to-a-load.html
  2. hmm, me thinks you may suffer from short attention span? Read the whole post, perhaps, before those fingers hop out of the saddle and start spraying those who choose to contribute to a discussion on an adult level? And yes,I have been on the water with an Etec. Nice motor. However, to claim that it is better than a 4 stroke of comparable vintage, well, that is your opinion. One I don't share it. As I said - its a matter of choice, there are good motors regardless of what you select. ..trolling is for catching fish, try it sometime.Shame how instead of answering the OPs question you prefer to get out the spoon so often, eh? how's those bearings?
  3. call me crazy... but sounds like another reason for a 4 stroke? then they buy the gas? But then....I'm a 4 stroke motor person - not that two strokes don't have their positives - 4 stroke - just easier, no smell, no oil slicks, no measuring, or adding oil on the water. I remember when I used to ride motocross the two strokes kicked . Couldn't be beat. Then came something called the Elsinore 4 stroke by Honda. and the difference in response changed - at least for smaller bore engines. Its like the aluminium versus 'glass discussion - there are damn good motors in each category - buy the one you like best and at least then if something does go pear shaped........ you own it. I got a 4 stroke Suzuki 20 for a kicker,( only weighs 10 lbs more than the 10 hp, 4 stroke btw) My first boat had a 2 stroke suzi. Both great motors.
  4. imo you answered the question when you said you would be renting it out, 4 stroke. 2 stroke + one guest, one mixture too rich,or too lean, or not at all and a 4 stroke will be break even.
  5. I wish I had more than the P&S. will have to spend a bit of time with the enhancement software on these ones. The reds were soooooo much deeper in my lenses.
  6. uh, yeah, ain't that the truth. I had my cheap cap broken into once in my old truck - lost all my tackle..and my you-know-what when I discovered it. So between peace of mind, time looking for a decent used one, and that Kijiji factor. .. it really wasn't any worse than the annual physical.... You may have a bit more luck with a Ram than I did
  7. Lots of places when I was looking B. I decided on brand - wanted one with a guarantee, and a good quality lock. Always found the locks seized or didn't really lock well. Ended up with an ARE. for an extra few bucks, it locks with the rest of the truck, and locks automatically after 3 minutes. I am glad I paid the extra for that with all the goodies that hang out back there. You could pick whatever model you want Love mine - I chose 2 windows, one that opens. - hasn't leaked and lifetime warranty on paint, fit and function. Perfect colour match to the manufacturers code.
  8. absolutely essential. Compression test on the motor, and a sea test at a minimum. As you want the results, its your cost and your choice of marina. Telll them you are considering buying it and want a full inspection.
  9. You can indeed get parcels, especially by post, where the with taxes / duties are not applied. But you can also get hit with them and have to go pick them up and pay taxes. I was just speaking to the regs and common practice. Be assured the packages are looked at a whole lot closer than they used to be Looks like I mis-stated the mail limit - its actually $60.00 . http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/declare-eng.html Absence of less than 24 hoursPersonal exemptions do not apply to same-day cross-border shoppers. Sending gifts to CanadaWhile out of the country, you can send gifts to friends in Canada and not pay duty and taxes under the following conditions: each gift must not be worth more than CAN$60 and the gifts cannot be tobacco products, alcoholic beverages or advertising matter. The recipient must pay the duty and taxes as well as any provincial or territorial levies that apply for each gift having a value in excess of CAN$60. You should include a card indicating that the item is a gift to avoid any misunderstanding.
  10. Duties: you can mail $50.00 no duties payable - but if you use a courier they will charge you duties and brokerage fee (subsidises the "low low shipping rates) . I've actually had brokerage and duties work out to be more that the package (UPS) USPS will work if it is under $50 (remember, exchange rate applies.) You can arrange to ship to a company on the other side of the border and they will hold it for 30 days for 5 bucks US (most places). Then you have the Canadian exemption when you come back ( as only Canada could do, this is actually less than if you mail it?? - $35 I believe?) Collecting that is at the discretion of the officer at the booth. Frequently if it is under 200 they won't go through the paperwork for the HST. If you have a friend who lives close to the border it can be worthwhile. For instance - headlight for our minivan. Canada - $450.00. On line from California - $94 US shipped anywhere, Courier, Sarnia to me,$15.00. And now I have to a share couple beers with a bud to say thanks for picking it up. Its all situational - I have found in most instances it ends up costing the same or more from the US- and unless the difference is huge, (like the above) - I prefer to buy local.
  11. For those that may looking; Princess Auto's flyer for sale starting Tuesday has an entire re-wire kit for 27.99 Low profile rectangular lights. At that price I',m thinking I'll buy one as a spare.
  12. or clean em this way?
  13. yes by, well you're welcome to it!. I like my water the way she comes out of the tap. the big lake is only a week of warm temps and spring rain from some nice colour in the shallows. Best place for ice is in my cooler chillin the days catch its in there somewhere
  14. But, it isn't the first time we came home in the snow, Give me a week of plus temps and it'll be Brownies in the skinny water
  15. that last one is a beaut - what an expression in that face
  16. Yup Great message. It ain't pretty and its the truth. I attended a session once where an ex opp officer described a scene he investigated. He worked in Parry sound, and lived there, Had for many years. He put a picture up of the scene. A terrible car wreck. You couldn't recognise the cars. There was a ladies white sun hat in the middle of the picture. You didn't really notice it till he said " see that sun hat.? As I approached the scene I saw that hat. It belongs to my best friends 19 year old daughter. I knew it as soon as I saw it because I had seen her a couple hours before. As I walked back to close off the highway my best friend was the first car I stopped. I said, you need to stay here. But he could tell from my face something was wrong. He pushed me out of the way and walked to the scene.........". He quit the force not long after that. If you know you are drinking, just don't drive there. It stops you having to make a decision when your judgement isn't what it should be. Now, if we can just get the message out about using the phone while driving.....
  17. OK Winter, you've had your fun ...... time to exit, stage left and let the other half play.

  19. More than one 401 bozo has found my ball-before-my-bumper while texting in "bumper to bumper" traffic.
  20. cool. so, hook a release clip to the bottom, snap in your line and have to drone run it to that spot just too far to cast, or under that tree , give a tug on the line and plop. perfect placement every time.
  21. The Tundra Swans haven't stopped by here on their annual migration yet, although rumour has it they are less than a day's flight away. The Robins are bouncin' around in packs looking for food, but the Redwing Blackbirds haven'y started their stakeouts on our tulip tree, so I'm figurin' we still got till around the time change before we see its arrival in our neibourhood. Still puts it almost a month ahead of most years....
  22. that raft is classic!!!! great day just need a "Wilson"
  23. I'm thinking a good chance of early March for the first brownie hunt of the season?

Looking forward to it! I think I might pick up some inline Offshore planners instead of running everything off the mast this year. It can be a pain in the ass.
