  1. cool report few feelings like finally putting a pattern together after multiple tries. Something to build on for future trips. close call with the skeg. Looks like you have an HDS 5 or 7 at the helm? you should able to make your own charts while exploring, trolling using the insight genesis feature?
  2. cool vid .. last years stats from the NY on the Salmon river was a 50/50 ratio still of stocked vs naturals if I remember correctly.
  3. Have you done any updates ? Likely, the lake isnt charted on the device / chip. To find out put chart on full screen (you can do this from home) zoom out. waaaay out so that you are like google earth view, all of ontario. now slowly zoom in. you should see dotted lines on the chart. These are the charted / uncharted zones. If your lake is outside the dotted line where you have depths, you need a different card. You can check by identifying an area you know is charted, and look to a lake just outside the dotted line that one is in. Zoom in looking for contours on each lake. If you ever get out Woodstock way, you can take it into Angling outfitters. They'll answer all your questions, as well as know the card that has your lake on it........ Just don't be in a hurry
  4. sweet views - this change in weather should start the tree doing the fall colour show up that way
  5. red sky in the morning,LOL. cooler temps and later rises are just around the corner. best time on the water when that ball of fire peaks its head up
  6. id replace both. Unless you are sure only one end is worn. If one part it worn, it is likely the other other is. and poor connections = lost voltage and high resistance - which equals heat. even if you have a circuit breaker or fuse up line of the plug, they can melt or catch fire. The loose connection also allows water to seep into the plug when it gets wet from waves or rain. that can get pretty messy too.
  7. Your son is growing up! Yeah, one day soon I expect a grunt for the 5:00 am call to go fishing as true teenager-times set in. It's been a fantastic year of Erie for sure. Only the second time we were able to get out - first was May and we were skunked.... The drive kills me though! Erie, Ontario - 45 to an hour 15 for us depending on where we launch, kinda lucky that way. And much easier this time of year when the sun takes his time breaking the horizon. Worst part with Erie is the line ups at the launch, I find. between sheer numbers and those who really have no clue how to back up, you can end up waiting almost as long as you drive. then pulling out, sometimes 8 - 12 boats deep and didn't the guy who took 30 minutes to back in beat me back by 5 boats? Lake O we're usually in and out, or 3 boats at most in front (only 1 of who cant drive backwards) here's to a few more productive outings this year...
  8. beauty water. Nice vid.. Hope to have access to that kind of fish when the retirement gets here.
  9. what?my through-the-hull-networking set up? Took hours to get it to read just right, now works great at the helm
  10. another rough day for day, huh? wicked bass spot where's those drone shots? so cool when you spliced those in with that scenery
  11. that's be an aluminum trailer wheel and I'll have you know, that was my bat
  12. The winds and schedule have kept us of Lake E all season. Finally managed an outing on Saturday. The flies had hatched - 10,s of thousands of the buggers swarmed the boat, and without a breath of wind, 1.8 doesnt keep them away. Open your mouth to have a conversation and swallow a couple flies. Phthey.... This guy thought we were a floating restaurant but we had a good day, Just in time for the annual freezer re-stocking headed out today looking for G's Tyee still - none wanted to play but we met a lot of nice bows. Short strikes were a theme with lots of self releases. We lost count but ended up somewhere in the 12 for 17 range a fog blew in and made it kinda interesting if you were near the shipping channels - and really cool as we pulled under the skyway bridge. As we pulled into the canal you could only just see the top supports of the bridge We're actually about halfway to the lift bridge at this point nice to get some numbers, agreeable winds and a weekend - been a tough combo to find this year
  13. cool trip. Thanks for putting that together - sunsets and beauty fish awesome couplin'
  14. great shots. Love the first one RB. We saw it come up over Lake Erie, but no way the phone camera would do it justice, so we just enjoyed. Keep 'rm comin'
  15. you realise that as you live in fishing heaven, when you pass it will be in white stripe hell, right? awesome day on the water, thanks for sharing (well, rubbing it in, anyway)
  16. If you can do the job you do and keep your cool, loosing this monkey from your back is just a matter of focus. Almost 30 years for me. Was a 2 pack a day person (watch this now).... always said I would quit when they cost a $1.00 a pack - quit when they went to $1.10 for a small pack at the Macs milk. Was driving taxi at the time. Get a call - light up. Fare smokes? Light up. Drop the fare? Light up. Park for the next fare? LIght up; waiting - light up. Someone here once said, all you have to do is say. that was my last smoke. Yup, its physical. Yup its mental (my desires lasted for 10 years - especially when someone opened a fresh pack after I'd had a beer or two) But if you quit already you know - after 10 days its easy to say no. you just wanted to know if you could have just one... rooting for ya dood.
  17. congrats on the PB Sy - the tail on that thing is huge. - re: the spoon - if it was the one you always ran when we were out, I have never seen one that colour before... good luck in our search. Maybe you can find the size and get someone to paint another for you, if you have a picture of it?
