  1. Nice rig. I'm jealous! I love my 14' Lund for the smaller northern Ontario lakes. All the positive advertising about Lund is true!!
  2. I hate to crush all these theories, I do fish some lakes north of Sudbury. Summer of 2012 I was trolling go getters with a small piece of dew worm & hammering nice size walleye during mid day with the hottest, brightest sun. Like most walleye fisherman I usually do well just before dark. That is because the wallys go shallow at this time to feed on smaller fish. Find an area with deeper water 20-30 fow. Keep your boat away from the shore. Cast toward shore in 2-4 fow with the original gold & black floating Rapala. Hold on with both hands!
  3. I hate hearing sad stories like this. I was told at a young age "if it isn't yours, don't touch it". We also had a break in 2 years ago - not a nice feeling knowing someone can enter your house without permission.
  4. I worked at the mine site in 2011. The locals tell me that any of the lakes along the road to the mine site north of Cochrane are good for walleye. Hope you do well. Please let us know your results.
  5. Good job, I like 'em! I tie mine 48" long, I like to keep the baited hooks away from the swivel which is connected to the bottom bouncer = less hardware to spook the fish.
  6. Burtess - Do you have a photo of the folded clevis? I tie my own harnesses & not sure of this type of clevis. Delete the above request. I found the photo on Spanky's link - thanx
  7. Wow! Very informative. Thanx. I recently purchased a wide brim Tilley hat at Ramakkos in Sudbury. They're not cheap, but I feel this hat with Neutrogina 70 PSF applied 2 or 3 times per day of fishing is what I feel is correct. Good luck !
  8. Come on Mike, we want a full report, complete with pix as always! OK, I'll wait. Do I have a choice?
  9. Yah but what do you use if you drink out of cans? Me bad!
  10. i2cool- I forgot all about those riggers! Hope you have some luck with them. Post some pix please.
  11. I recently returned from Mattagami lake - north of Gogama. Lottsa walleye but very small. 11-12" for the most of them. Largest I caught was 14". I'm rather disappointed as I would have liked a couple 2lbers. I know this is not Elk Lake but is close by. Grassy lake near Shining Tree was pretty much the same. Nothing over 12".
  12. Sad to hear about Lakair. I've never stayed there but I know many members of OFC have had many memorable trips there.
  13. Spray 9 is an excellent cleaner for vinyl - not sure about fish scales though. Gentle rubbing with a stiff brush?
  14. I installed Ducan on the floor of my boat 2 years ago. It still looks good today, easy to install, easy to wash down, hooks don't get caught in it like carpeting, & has a slip resistant texture. I am very pleased with it. Cost me $80.00 dollars for the vinyl for my 14' Lund & $45.00 for the glue. It's available at Home Depot. You'll notice it's the same vinyl they use in the new Lunds.
  15. Musky or specks- Thanx for the link to Delta Decks. I read all the info, sounds like an amazing product! I also clicked on the link to see pricing. Shocked to see $5.69 per lineal foot for 2x4s!
  16. I'm with Garnet, sounds like a grounding wire problem. Trailer lights take a beating - in & out of the water, dusty road conditions etc. I had problems similar to what you describe. I purchased brand new LED submersible lights from CTC. ($70.00). Removed the old wiring & lights (was 5 years old). Installed the new wiring harness & lights - it's all good! I also ensured the wiring plug at my truck was nice & clean. Spray some WD 40 on the 2 plugs, polish with some steel wool. Now they go blink, blink when they're supposed to.
  17. Awesome pix! Thanx for sharing. I'm with the other guys, 2nd pic is amazing!
  18. Thanx for your report Randy. Looks like you guys had a great time. I have fished many lakes in that area & always get into some nice walleye.
  19. Tayzak I have the 798. I find the visibility in the bright sunlight is very good. What is autochart support? Thanx
  20. I recently bought a new yammy 20 hp, 4 stroke, electric start for my 14' Lund. It's awesome! Quiet running, no gas/oil to mix, great fuel economy. My older 30 hp Suzuki would push my boat at 30 mph with just myself & gear in the boat. That was scary fast for a 14 footer. The yammy although 10 Hp lighter does 23. I'm very pleased with it's performance. I would also like to add the sales & service people at Bay City Marine in Hamilton were great to deal with. I now have a 30hp Suzuki for sale. PM me.
  21. Did you tell him that chainsaws are a handy tool for wood! Sorry couldn't resist!
  22. I was on Erie at the east end Saturday & Sunday. Lake was calm, just a light breeze both days. Good enough for my 14' Lund. Saturday only 3 perch but one was 14"! Sunday I was on the water by 7:30, & able to locate them. Caught perch till 11:00 then it was very quiet all around me & 50 other boats. I moved into 50 fow & found more. Now it wasn't constant catching as the schools of perch would come & go. Ended up bringing home 35 nice ones. Many were 10 -11", a few at 12". Only released 2 smaller ones in 5 hours, which is good for Erie as I usually catch a lot more dinks.
  23. animatedknots.com Very informative. I can't help with heavy line. I'm a walleye guy using much lighter line.
