  1. I was out fishing today - didn't catch squat. Stopped at the beer store on my way home - (why would a fisherman buy beer)?? In the beer store 3 -4 minutes, come back to my truck my iphone 5 is gone!! Disaster - I guard that phone with my life!! I search everywhere in the truck - no phone! I go to my buddy newfie Don's house to use his phone - he lives nearby. I called my cell phone on his land line twice - no luck 1st call is to Bell to cancel my phone. 2nd call to Niagara Regional Police to file a report - yah like they're gonna send out the K9 unit to apprehend the cocaine freak who stole my phone?? Now comes the expensive part I just purchased the phone (stolen phone) May of 2013 (it's 1 year old) with a 3 year contract - 90.40 per month -unlimited local calling, Canada wide long distance, 2 gigs data I call the Bell store on my wife's phone If I purchase a new iphone 5s $800.00 no contract - why would I buy a phone without a monthly contract -I'm confoozed! If I cancel Bell altogether $346.00 -they're service is not that great, cuz I recently purchased a plan for my wife with Rogers for $70.00 includes unlimited local calling & Canada wide long distance & 1 gig data If I purchase an i phone $230.00 with a 2 year contract & an early upgrade fee $361.00 = $591.00 I just found out that I can remotely "find my phone" with the appropriate app installed -I didn't have it! Also "remotely erase my info" - very interesting!! My major concern is now I have lost all of my contacts, photos, apps & probably other valuable info I haven't even thought of. If you could advise me on which way to go - monthly plan, phone type (maybe Galaxy) I would really appreciate your comments. Thanx I never really realized how much I relied on my phone till now.
  2. Questions for Saltydawg & others What should the strapping spacing be? Can you walk on the steel roof without damaging it? Should the old shingles be removed? Might be a silly question - but is it absolutely necessary? What guage metal do you advise? Very good info here. Thanx
  3. Bag all the way. As previously mentioned more versatile to take the lures you need for that day. Also see what's in the tray without opening it.
  4. Cliff - Where did you buy the 25 year shingles that only lasted 12 years? I had a similar situation with Home Depot. My 25 year shingles from Home Depot only lasted 12 years. I sent pix, paperwork etc, ended up getting 55 bundles for free. PM me if you wish - for ALL the details. $5200.00 for steel giddy up - git er done!!!
  5. Way to go Outlaw! although not politically correct, I agree with you 100%. We're not inundated with Chinese products are we!!
  6. F_ast - Would Harold be the owner from Barrie who operates a catering business in Barrie? If so he is the one who purchased the lodge from Jules & Nicole. I used to frequent Wolsely quite often Three times a year for 10 years. The guy from Barrie purchased the lodge from Jules & Nicole, I never returned. Jules & Nicole were top notch!
  7. As posted earlier or perhaps another outdoors board there is a solution. Live trap the bears & deliver them to Bay & Yonge St. in Toronto. Or drop them off in a neighborhood school yard. I know for a fact while living in Terrace Bay On the black bears were spotted in the town subdivisions numerous times. I also know first hand seeing bears in a rural area of Sudbury just 3 kms from the main shopping area. While camping at a rather large truck stop north of Sudbury bears would be in the trailer park on a regular basis. The scary part was right beside the trailer park was an ecological tour which invited tourists to follow a foot path through the bush to view the various plant life of this area. I witnessed a mother with 2 youngsters & the family dog strolling down the same path which 2 minutes earlier was occupied by a young male bear!! I shouted to the family - it would be best to return to your vehicle. These tourists had no idea of the danger. This injunction they are proposing is not the right thing to do!
  8. Yup, count me in for supporting the small town, family owned shops. Their prices & quality are just as good as the big boys. At least you can communicate & fish talk with the little guys. Why, because they know fishing. I love Grimsby Tackle, Pete's tackle in St. Catharines & Fishing world in Hamilton. Cabelas in Barrie - I'll probably never see it unless you send me a picture!
  9. Nice pix, thanx for posting! We expect to get out this week end.
  10. Take a look at batterystuff.com They have a lot of valuable info which I am sure will help you decide which battery you would want/need. I purchased their battery minder model 12248. It is a charger, 2/4/8 amp settings, settings for different types of batteries such as AGM, flooded or gel, also a de sulphation process which will resurrect older, poorly maintained batteries. $140.00 for the charger at my door. Very good service from this company.
  11. I favor the red neck version of removing unwanted huts! Sinker's math equation makes sense!
  12. How long does it take for these freshly laid eggs to hatch? Or germinate? What's the proper term?
  13. Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Good to hear every one involved is OK. I was recently looking at a new Lund. They show a Lund with 66 holes drilled into it, with 2 guys in the boat it still floated! Can't elaborate on legal advice. Good luck.
  14. I have the same unit Mike is showing. They work very well in my 14' Lund. Just be sure of your location before boring a hole in the existing bench seat in your boat.
  15. Thanx Farsider for the lead to Por 15. I searched in online, spoke to the rep in Montreal & ordered the 4 products they recommend. Should be here early next week. Hopefully my rusted trailer will be a thing of the past. Once my painting is completed I'll shoot you guys an update.
  16. I have no problem paying 10 or 15 bux to launch & park for the day. I was at a launch on Georgian Bay a few years back (no identity), $7.00 to launch, $7.00 to haul out. It gets better! $7.00 to park my truck, oh you have a trailer to park for the day that's an additional 7 bux. Total for the day $28.00! I've been there twice. The first & the last! LOL!
  17. If you decide to only use the main motor, consider a drift sock to slow down your trolling speed. Back in the day we only used a 5 gallon pail tied to the back of the boat to slow it down. It works!
  18. The perch festival is an awesome event, been there many times. Take your boy fishing, hopefully you'll catch a few. Have a good time!
  19. My house was broken into 3 years ago. Of course I called the police. A young man came to my house took a statement, & was about to leave. I questioned him about following the intruders foot prints in the freshly fallen snow. He stated it was not worth the effort. Just a rant about the efficiency of our tax dollars being wasted. This particular break in only cost $1,000.00 to install 4 new locksets on the doors & a new remote transmitter for my truck because the scum bag stole a set of keys while in my garage.
  20. She is a Lake Scugog steward, doesn't fish? Easy have her replaced with someone who has knowledge of the said subject.
  21. Now you are just peeing me off! LOL! I have no choice but to wait for soft water.
  22. I could produce pix of me catching nice walleye in Buckhorn & Bobcaygeon back in the 60s (4 & 5 lbers). Too bad those 2 areas have had a lot of pressure & now you are lucky to harvest a 14" walleye. I don't fish said area any more, unfortunately I have now been forced to travel further north to towns such as Gogama area & Shining Tree. If I'm going fishing It's nice to harvest 2 or 3 nice walleye. I don't need a pick up truck full to be happy.
