Spectacular scenery there! Looked like a great day outside. Nice Brookie!

Fishnsled and I were talking last months about maybe trying to target Channel Cats this spring...as neither of us has targeted them before. I for one had NEVER even caught one before! After getting in contact with Steve from Fishmasters, we set up a date to give them a try. Saturday April 7th was the day...and we left Oshawa at 8am to get there by 11. We were early, so we headed off to a great greasy spoon for breakfast...sausage, eggs, homefries, toast and coffee. It doesn't get much better than that! At 11am, we met up with Steve and we wasted no time in getting out of the water. I have to tell you...it's a stressful way to fish as you can tell from this picture... The bite was slow, and everyone we talked to on the river said they have had no luck as of yet! The first fish in the boat was a bullhead...and after it was released, it was Fishnsled's turn at the next fish. He got us on the board with this little one! Next it was my turn...and I landed my first ever Channel Cat! Fishnsled landed a small one we didn't take a picture of, and then I lost a what felt like a pretty good sized one. Will got the last fish...the biggest of the day and estimated at around 16 to 17 pounds! All in all, on a day that was VERY slow for everyone we met out on the river, we hooked 5 and lost 1! Steve worked hard to get us onto these fish. We tried different depths and locations all day long. The fish didn't cooperate as he had hoped, but we had a great time out there. We learned a lot from Steve and hopefully plan on heading down there one more time to target these fish. Thanks Steve! We had a great time! I put together a short video of some of the fish we landed as well as a short clip of a bald Eagle flying around us...such a majestic bird! I had to be fully zoomed in to get that footage, so the camera is a bit shaky. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Asqwq10opEM?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Thanks for posting this! I have fond memories of renting Marshall stacks when I was a teenager so I could play louder than I needed to! RIP

A quick google search for "kijiji paypal scam" returns hundreds of examples...stay away from this one! "My daughter was also almost scammed. She had posted a cell phone for sale on Kijiji (Windsor) and received a reply from someone named Ines Olivieri (probably fake name). Ines made an offer for more than my daughter was asking, supposedly to cover shipping costs and asked my daughter to ship the phone to an address in Nigeria. She said she would pay through Paypal and requested my daughter's Paypal account name, which my daughter provided. Shortly afterward, Ines replied saying that she had sent the money through her Paypal account and the money had cleared at her end. My daughter waited to hear from Paypal, which she did shortly afterward, or so she at first thought. She received an email, supposedly from Paypal, stating that, in order to protect both the buyer and seller, they would require confirmation that the item was shipped. The emails stated that as soon as they received a tracking number from my daughter, they would release the funds from the buyer. I had been skeptical about this from the beginning but now I knew something was wrong. Why would Paypal get involved in this transaction when Paypal had nothing to do with it? My daughter checked her Paypal account and there were no transactions pending. This was obviously a fake email, not from Paypal. I googled "Nigerian scams involving Paypal" and got numerous hits! Apparently this same scam has been going on for years, using different names & addresses, mostly in Nigeria. I read stories about many people who got scammed in this way, some sending money as well as merchandise. I did the research and found out that Paypal does not offer to put a transaction on hold for any reason & we reported this scam to Paypal. DO NOT GET SCAMMED LIKE THIS - IT'S SO EASY TO DO THE RESEARCH ONLINE!"

ccmtcanada replied to Fishmaster's topic in General Discussion
Looking forward to meeting you next month Steve! Never caught a channel cat before... -
Now I'm getting the itch to get back out there!! Great fish once again!
-
WOW! Time flies doesn't it? Happy belated birthday to the little guy

I'll know that for the future....although when it comes to plumbing stuff, I don't like re-using certain fittings....call me paranoid lol
-
I thought the same thing when I got a new one too, but at least the salesperson told me ahead of time I needed to get the part. They didn't have an explanation when I asked that same question!

If I woke up at 430, I'd go back to sleep.... Enough will go wrong throughout the day without me intentionally opening a "can of worms"!!!

Yep....hard to believe they actually did something! http://www.cp24.com/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20120302/120302_wilson_fired/20120302/?hub=CP24Home

I pronounce it die-wa.

So when people say I'm terrible at fishing and that I'm bad luck and I agree with them, it means I'm a good fisherman?
-
Not a lot of things that required effort that weekend! Was the first beer I opened after we arrived..the rest were chilling in the fridge! Hey now! We actually all had our own rooms.....smart

It snowed.... So we did a lot of this.... Fishnsled and I were the only ones that fished...for 2 hours on Saturday... Then it got cold... We did more of this.... Then we drove home. As was already mentioned...it's not all about the fishing...and this past weekend we relaxed a little, drank a little, ate a little, jammed a little, played a little cards, watched a little bit of TV, and apparently slept a LOT!! LOL. Thanks once again for a great weekend guys!!
