  1. Thanks Roy! Can't wait to get it out...maybe next weekend with my little one if the weather holds.
  2. Great job out there! I love fishing for them...they put on a good fight that's for sure! Mirrors are a big bonus...I've never caught one before!
  3. Lew and Mike, Thanks! I have to admit, it's pretty satisfying doing this and having it turn out well. Can't wait to get it out on the water now! The 30hp that's on there already scares me full out...one time gunned it WOT and it felt like the back was going to swing out on me! LOL Hey thanks! To tell you the truth, vinyl never even crossed my mind! I do like the feel of the carpet though....
  4. Thanks everyone! Wasn't a lot of work, but I only had short periods of time to work on it. Hopefully get it out in the next few weeks. The most expensive parts of this job? The stainless steel screws!! Brian...what? Have there been a few contentious towing threads or something of late?? The entire package is less than 1000 lbs, so I have no worries When I previewed this post, the pics were all rotated 90 degrees....so I went and edited them all. They show ok here....is it still messing up on some screens?
  5. You may or may not remember, but at the end of last summer, I purchased a boat. It came with removable floors, but there were a few issues. The first is that the floor didn't go all the way to the bow. Because of that there wasn't a lot of room for the foot pedal for the trolling motor when sitting up front. The plywood was old, weathered and beginning to rot out and the 'shelf' where the trolling motor was mounted wasn't quite long enough, so it hung off the end. First order of business was to replace that shelf up front. It's now plenty big enough to mount the trolling motor properly. Then with Fishnsled's help on design...we figured out a good way to extend the floor all the way to the bow instead of leaving that space open from the front bench forward. Water sealed all the parts Put on some marine grade carpeting.... Now the floor extends all the way to the bow...and can be raised for storage. Now came the task of replacing the rotting plywood for the main part of the casting deck. Brand new plywood, water sealed and ready for assembly. Best make sure it fits in the boat before I go any further...CHECK! Time to carpet, make sure the hatch is installed and lifts up...and put the seat base back in. Fits like a glove! WHEW! Today I finished things off...reinstalled the trolling motor bracket and wiring, and reinstalled the light base. Oh yeah...one other thing. I towed this boat with my Kia Spectra just 2 times last summer. I just wasn't comfortable even though it seemed to pull the boat (and stop) just fine. So a few weeks ago, I purchased a 2009 Hyundai Tucson V6. I'm all set now to hit the water!!! I want to thank Fishnsled for the use of his ideas as well as tools! We'll get out in it soon hopefully!
  6. Excellent report Ryan! Being a bit late...who cares! Lol. You are creating awesome memories for them. Congrats on all the PB's...even the ones lost boatside
  7. Awesome Peter! I saw them on the Powerslave and Somewhere in Time tours back in the day! Amazing shows
  8. I'd say you are well within the limits to tow your boat. Keep in mind the gross vehicle weight rating though...that is set by the manufacturer for your vehicle. Gross vehicle weight ratings take into account the base curb weight of the vehicle plus the weight of any optional accessories, cargo and passengers. A vehicle should never be loaded beyond the manufacturer's listed GVWR. The tongue weight of the trailer is what's taken into account here...and not the weight of your boat and trailer. A quick google search of this will yield a lot more information for you. Good luck.
  9. Ainsley....those videos are great! Thanks for posting the website.
  10. I've had a few done at U Haul and watched as they installed everything and they are very efficient at it. I've never had issues with their hitches. Takes less than an hour...wiring included.
  11. I find U-haul is about as cheap as it gets and they do a good job at the one on Taunton in Oshawa. In fact, I'll be making an appt there very soon for a new class II hitch.
  12. My Blackberry Torch has no delays or noticeable lags...
  13. Fishnsled and I were looking for a place to grab a bite to eat last night...and we saw a sign for chicken and ribs special, with this thing called Road Gravy. Sounded good so we headed over to the bar for some food and to maybe watch the hockey game. Our dinner was rudely interrupted by this LOUD music...one look over and low and behold, there was our very own Headhunter! Seriously though, those guys rocked the place with three sets of favourites for everyone. If you have a chance to see Road Gravy in a bar near you, I'd recommend you go and check them out. Great show Headhunter! On a side note, it seems that I went to high school with the lead singer...he came over after the show and asked if I went to Ajax High. He looks completely different now, but after chatting a bit, I remembered who he was...small world!
  14. I have Netflix as well...50 GB bandwidth limit per month. I went online to my Netflix profile and made sure that "Good quality" was chosen to save on bandwidth. It was used EXTENSIVELY and I still didn't go over my limit for the month.
  15. Night time shore walleye proof...LOL
  16. Mike...huge congrats are in order here!!! Amazing news! Hey everyone, I've fished with Mike...yep, the guy who's pics have been published! Seriously though, your photos have always been amazing...this is very much deserved.
  17. Yep there are I've caught a few nice ones from shore
  18. I made a "Hockey CD" years ago that I used to listen to all the time... It started with the HNIC theme song...then O Canada... Then I included those songs that are played at the games...you know the ones where they only play 20 or so seconds? Final Countdown Shook Me All Night Long Boys are Back in Town Good Ole Hockey Game Tom Sawyer Etc....
  19. Done Ron! My suggestion for waterfront activities included a kids fishing derby
  20. Fantastic report! Not a lot of fish, but that's not always the point of getting out there. Looked like a great weekend to me!
  21. Whiskywizard has it right....check the tubes first. If one is out, the other wont work making it seem like the fixture need repaired. His step by step is from lowest to highest cost...so start with the tubes. Keep us posted!
  22. Cliff...good luck in your new career!! You work incredibly hard and are very dedicated to whatever it is you set your mind too. I'm sure you will be successful!!
  23. Wow!! On a day that didn't look like it was going to be productive and you had a banner day!! Some awesome fish there...congrats all around!
