  1. I am actually looking to get a new pair myself. I have been scouring the internet trying to decide what to do and keeping a price point in mind. I think alot of it is personal preference and fishing situation. If you can only buy one pair do you go neoprene or something breathable. Well that will depend on whether you spend more time in cold water and conditions vs not. I like stocking feet vs boot. In my experience they leak less and are more comfortable. But others may tell you differently. Again it likely comes down to preference.
  2. As far as I know he still spends time in Canada. In fact my brother in law did some work on his boat this summer.
  3. I wonder what they did with it after they euthanized the animal? I just saw a show on wolverines last night and it would have made a great meal for them.
  4. Great report and some good tips in here.
  5. I am partial to a German Shepherd, but my brother has a lab and we just love him as well. I don't have much experience with Husky's but from what I have picked up from watching TV is that Husky's need more exercise and activity they are dog bred to run and pull a sled. I know a lot of people say labs are great family dogs, which is true of most breeds, but they are also a powerful and cannot be underestimated. So don't assume because of the breeds general demeanor that they won't have issues. I suggest taking the appropriate training classes, it did wonders for me with my shepherd. Plus I have found Cesar Milan's 3 principles of exercise, discipline, and affection really do work wonders.
  6. Regs aren't as simple as they use to be, but the above statement is correct as per the regulations. You definitely need to read them in detail. I believe some people like to tell others that don't read the regs themselves misinformation on purpose for their own personal gain.
  7. I think the problem with Buffalo is the tight budget. I know they are at 53M and the cap is almost 60M. I can't see them spending too the cap maximum. Plus I think Vanek cap hit is like 7M which these days has to be terrible value with his declining production. I would take Lindy Ruff though as a coach any day. To me is one of the best coaches in the league.
  8. The only answer to that is a Simpsons quote "I'm not, not licking frogs"
  9. I have only been out for several hours all fall for steelhead. Didn't even get out for salmon. Its been surprisingly busy fall and I have been down to 1 car all year. Hopefully that will change in the next week or so. Then I want to take a few days vacation and just go fishing.
  10. I joined because of the loads of information and its nice to read/see people's reports especially if life has gotten in the way and you haven't been out in a little while. I stay for the above reasons and partly because of the interesting network of people on here.
  11. Definitely interested. Shoot me a pm when you have time. Thanks
  12. Nicely done, my goal is to use my 7wt this year for steelhead and see how it goes. Its a single handed rod but I think it should work fine in the smaller streams I tend to fish. Did you find spey casting to be difficult to pick up or did it come easy? I would definitely like to give it a try one day. Also are you using a sink tip? or is that line just straight floating to a leader. Sorry for all the questions new to fly fishing.
  13. Have been fishing rivers for a long time now. This will save me time on whether its worth the drive to a certain river. Thanks for the link.
  14. I;m sure my wife will be on me with the many projects that need to be done around our home. I always sight money as the major obstacle to these projects. Will do a little ice fishing and probably watch a lot of hockey, maybe play a little indoor soccer. Hoping to go on Paternity leave in February so I guess my main thing will be watching my daughter all day.
  15. Sweet
  16. That was a great episode.
  17. Yeah the wife and considered doing a weekend package trip this october on the fraser. But neither of us were ready to leave our little one for more than a night yet. maybe next year its on the list. Whereabouts in BC did you go sleded?
  18. Wow Bill you really are getting beat up this time. Sometimes sarcasm doesn't come across in text messges without this guy Funny thread but some good info to be had if it doesn't fall off the rails. I personally get annoyed when steelheading gets broken down into us vs them groups. Some guys like to use a float and centrepin, some guys like to fly fish, others throw lures, or bottom bounce and still fish. I think the one thing everyone can agree on all these tactics can catch fish and all have been abused by certain "anglers" and used a guise to snag.
  19. That is impressive, since having a baby I feel like my space is getting smaller and smaller. Originally it was the rec room in the basement and now every day my wife is harping on me to get rid of my table top hockey game which so far I have refused to make a point. I am trying to turn the garage into my space but everything seems to pile up in there. I may need to build another shed next year and turn into my own mancave. I figure run some electricity, put at TV and couple comfy chairs, beer fridge. Plus keep all my fishing stuff in there and I will be set. But something tells me I'm dreaming.
  20. I see them battling this year for a playoff spot that said they will probably finish around 10th in the conference.
  21. Sweet, that camera takes some nice pictures.
  22. Welcome to the board!
  23. I have to spend the day with my family saturday and the inlaws Sunday afternoon. Of course I'll be near some east tributaries so I am packing my gear to fish steelhead, while they all sleep in I'll be fishin.
  24. Great report, all those fish are beauties and the browns are a very good size.
  25. Thanks for the tips. We'll have a little more of an idea next time we head out. We definitely marked fish in the depth range you talked about but my goodness they had lockjaw at least we know know we just have to keep working them when they suspend like that. Most of our previous walleye experience is limited and usually involved jigging. We knew we had to troll but obviously it takes time and practice.
