Good deal and welcome to the dark side haha. I got into fly fishing a little over a year ago. Its pretty addictive, to the point that I barely use my spinning gear anymore. My goal for the fall season is to land a steelhead on the fly.

Love my St.Croix fly rods! I had a Fenwick when I was a kid and it broke rather easily but that was many years and may have had more to do with me.

Best Streams For Great Lakes Steelhead by Bob Linseman. Again more geared to the fly angler it has a lot of good info that is not fly fishing specific. Probably can get some decent books at your local library, I would check there before spending money on books.

Yeah I know Smoky lake and Nagonosh pretty well can't help you on the river. I always laugh at the people who pay to be flown into a "remote lake" in Smoky. Pretty easy trip via the canoe.

Are you on the pickeral river or a "remote" lake? I can help you with one of the "remote lakes" if thats the case.

Thanks Guys, It looked like Chinook to me as well with the black mouth but then I started to second guess myself.

He thought it was a steelhead. I'm not sure, salmon maybe? So I thought I would post it to some of the experts, nice fish anyways. http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa446/mtorcoletti/Fishing/IMG_8282.jpg

Whats your exact route? My friends and I are doing at trip starting next friday at Harris Lake ending at Naiscoot Marina off of HWY 69. From my understanding its more of a bass and pike area with some walleye. Haven't heard of any rainbows being caught. Anyways I would be happy to exchange notes before and after my trip next week.

That sucks, I got caught in the first year as well when I initially set it up and my god I am an accountant. But its my fault for not taking the time to read the fine print. The rules are in place for a reason, by charging such a severe penalty they ensure its not palatable to consistently over-contribute and simplifies the process for determining the penalty, after all TFSA can be invested in many different kins of instruments from GICs to stocks. Its a very useful savings account, wish I had more cash to sock away in it but at this point in my life its more about paying debt and child care expenses. Anyways all that said the banks could certainly do a better job of making the information clear and available but really they just want as much of you money as they can get. -
Nice venue, well did you get any fishing in?

I am actually taking my brother out sunday morning to show him some spots around town but my guess is you'll probably be tired or hung-over to be up and out early on the sunday morning. Anyways you can pm as well if you need some help. Where's the wedding at?

Well done, amazing pics. Unfortunate the amount of garbage that is left in our streams. Every year they clean the speed here in town and the stuff that comes out is really upsetting. Anyways I hope karma treats you well and thanks for doing more than your fair share of cleaning around your river.

What a weirdo. Who goes to the golf course and then decides to do this.

My wife just bought me a switch rod for our anniversary. Can't wait until October! One of my favorite kinds of fishing though is salmon off the pier or at the mouth. Its pure adrenaline when a big salmon smacks a lure. My guess is this is the same/similar feeling one gets swinging a fly.

the second is rated for an 8 weight line. Can't help with the 1st. No idea if they are good, with fly casting I have learned in my short time that its usually not the rod but the person casting it

Wow great report. What a great summer job to get, well done. I really wish I would have done something like that when I was in school.

Its a large lake and can be very deep in spots. If I remember correctly over 100 feet so you don't need to go that deep. I suggest getting a good chart of the lake so you don't troll aimlessly. The good news is the bass fishing seems pretty good from my brief experience on the lake. Troll a minnow or minnow imitation bait and you can get into some larger smallies.

Peterborough City Councillor caught with too many trout
torco replied to Grimace's topic in General Discussion
Very good point. I hate to pass judgment but he was likely no following the regs for some time. Why who knows but he was caught and hopefully he has been served notice. -
I'd be in probably for next weekend if I don't get away to friends cottage on Rice. I am babysitting this weekend as Mom has to work. Wet wading for smallie's is right up my alley though.

Good on your Ron. The NWPA has been under pressure recently and by exercising your rights under it you have shown law-makers and the general public that it is still relevant and should be respected. Keep your eyes peeled on Parliament in the coming months and years as this one act that is the cross-hairs to be "updated". I could be wrong but it may have already been altered in the last parliament under the guise of stimulus.

I am definitely more of a buyer. I now rarely purchase from the store but rarely sell anything because usually when its time to replace its resale value has been greatly diminished. I will be the first to admit I can be hard on my gear but I do keep it for many years.

what song are you listening to right now???

Since this the longest thread ever. I am currently listening to old Thrice. -
Definitely agree with Bill if you have equity your best rate is likely going to be a secured line of credit. That said 5.6% is not a terrible rate for a used vehicle.

Congrats. Get your rest while you can
