  1. does the sale apply to online orders? or just in store?
  2. Welcome to the board, good to see more women fishing.
  3. I never thought of it that way. I like positive spin.
  4. My wife just shakes her head. Her goal for our daughter is prime minister or doctor I hope she can be a professional angler. Hopefully she won't be stuck in an office, posting on a forum instead of working on company time.
  5. That is really decent of you Ryan to get involved with your nephew. My dad actually didn't like fishing and I did most of my fishing when I was young with my uncles. I am not sure how old he needs to be for trout fishing but I remember going to my local creek aorund 7-8 years old we mostly caught chub which kept us interested and every now and then we would get a trout. You could try that as a first time experience? I just bought my daughter (lol she is only 11 weeks old) a book called my first trout, its a how to book for kids on catching trout on the fly. The ponds at york rd in guelph have lots of panfish.
  6. Thanks guys I got a hold of Dave at hot reels and we are all set to go.
  7. Well from my trip on the grand my guide larry who is also president of friends of the grand, which I think do all the stocking or most of the stocking of browns said its a mixed fishery meaning there is some natural reproduction. This might not include conestoga, but they just stocked alot fish in it back on the May 13th & 14th. Did you take any pics?
  8. Awesome report. Man I love trout fishing and you had it all in this report.
  9. Well done, great report. You look like you are grasping fly fishing quite well.
  10. Good point. I am out guelph way, so would prefer to leave from port credit to bronte area. That said would be willing to go as far east as durham region.
  11. Hi, I just opened my email this morning and apparently the charter boat operator I booked with for August(the day before my bro's wedding) has doubled booked my morning. He is hoping I can reschedule for the afternoon but my brother also has his rehearsal that day. I'm a little pissed off as can be expected because this was suppose to be a boys trip with me, my brother, dad, uncle and cousins most of who are from Northern Ontario and can't reschedule any earlier as they are already taking time off to come down for the wedding. So I am hoping my fellow OFC'ers can give me some suggestions on charter's I can call as I feel like with it being June its already late in the game to be trying find one. Thanks, Mark
  12. check the flow but likely high and muddy for a day or so and will drop after that.
  13. Sounds like you have had some success in getting him to bite. I'd say make sure your hooks are razor sharp. Also if you get the flyrod out a nice sized streamer could produce a strike.
  14. Well before this degenerates. I consider my self liberal minded person (small l, not the party)how true that is I'm not sure. But ultimately it is up to us the citizen to run our government. After all democracy only exists with involvement of the citizen. So its our job to be rude and ornery when it comes to running our nation. Easier said then done but if one looks around at how government is run today, it often works for a narrow group of wealthy elite and special interests. Once the individual becomes disengaged or apathetic from his/her government they win. I'd say they are winning these days.
  15. Well done, amazing report. I am hoping to hit the river at some point this weekend. Have been working crazy overtime the last couple weeks and its killing me to be stuck inside.
  16. Unfortunately I will be working and helping do the gardens for the wife. If time permits I would like to head out to the grand for a few hrs before dark.
  17. I would have my passport handy. I have seen them board boats that cross the american side while fishing the st.mary's river with my uncle in the Soo. Best to make sure you have all your ID and paperwork in order before crossing.
  18. I agree, I was not pleased with the time mix up but the guide made up for it with a great day and it wasn't his fault. I asked why they were now selling minnows and its because no one else up there does. I thought hmm, its a good way to get people into the fly fishing shop and maybe grow the fly fishing sport little by little. That won't happen without treating customers with respect.
  19. Wow Ryan that does not sound good. I have not actually shopped at troutfitters but I did use them for a guided trip yesterday on the grand. I will post a report later, my guide was excellent however the shop had told my guide a different start than me.
  20. Keep it in moderation. One walleye meal won't harm your wife or baby. You could probably eat fish once a month while pregnant depending on the fish and where it comes from. At least you know if you catch it in Rice Lake what the toxins levels are. Buy it from the grocery store and its anybody's guess since no one really knows where their fish is coming from or if it is what they say it is. Bottomline fish has health benefits and drawbacks like all meats. Ie. Don't substitute a fish meal for red meat and think you are making a better choice from a health perspective.
  21. I am a Fly fishing newbie. This will be my first full season, of course I still use my spinning gear but my goal is to use the fly gear once a week starting June for the rest of the season.
  22. Awesome report. I enjoy reading it every year. Sadly I won't be in Algonquin this year but would love to get back next year. Do you mind letting me know the outfitter that you used so I can beware. You can PM me their info if you would like. And congrats on a successful trip.
  23. LOL. I think its safe to say most people know where most spots are out east. I love the deer in the back corner, didn't see it at first! Congrats guys on a successful outing.
  24. Right on, its true good of you to remind people of the good work most of these humane society's do. I'm sure with all the press related to the Toronto Humane Society some people may have been soured on all. Hopefully not but sometimes those things have a negative impact on related organizations.
  25. Those lawn mowers are actually manufactured by Linamar which operates predominately in Guelph but I believe most of the lawn mower stuff is done in Korea. Anyways you should let them know! Might get something out of it.
