I was out that way with my brother inlaw this weekend, had a blast but kept thinking man this 9ft 5wt is difficult to use in such tight quarters. Definitely need to invest soon in a small stream combo.
-
Wow great report, 14hrs and 7 streams that is just incredible. My brother inlaw did the samething yesterday minus the beautiful pictures. I used my fly rod and he used his ultralight, we hiked a gorgeous stretch of river for about 5hrs and caught some nice fish. The ultra light with spinner outfished me because he could get his spinners into all these little pockets. I had been wishing I packed the ultralight along as well. It was just the perfect day for it.

Great report. I am always impressed by yours (and others on the board) ability to tell a good story.

Thanks for sharing! Sounds like a very good day on the water

I only fished a few hrs sunday morning had fun landing some small trout on the fly rod. Where I was the water was low and gin clear so tempting so larger resident browns didn't go well, didn't see too many people and not a steelhead around. My guess is this particular creek the steelhead were back in the lake or close to it. I fished well well upstream. I would imagine if any steel were left they would be in whatever deep hole they could find as there was not much water. Would have been shooting fish in a barrel.

Thanks for another great report. Your son is very impressive gives me hope for my girls! I also noticed how quiet the rivers were in each picture and that in of itself is awesome.

Great looking dog, I am partial to the German Shepherd because I own one, but I tend to like bigger dogs overall.

Steelhead on spinners are so much fun. My favorite way I think to catch them especially when they are hungry!
-
Wow, don't think I have ever seen that many big perch before.
-
Congrats that brown is just a pig!

I realize the game happens quickly obviously he couldn't bail on the hit but by leaving his feet he made sure he was going to destroy him. The game is changing what was not seen as serious in the past is no longer the case.
-
Yeah that makes sense. I have only left one place and I gave them plenty of notice and kept working because they would have been in bind as we were really busy and we left on good terms.
-
Very classy of your old employer. I can see why you were looking for a better place to work. Well congrats on the new job.

Bad hit from a bad hockey player. He should get a lengthy suspension. He could have let up since Hossa no longer had the puck.

Thanks all, can`t wait to get them both out fishing. Our 2 year old just got her first fishing rod last week and I am planning to take her on the next nice day.

Well its been just over a week since our newest arrival came and so far so good. Baby Nora was born on the Thursday of the Easter weekend and is doing really well. Our first daughter is now 2 and seems to be taking everything in stride and adjusting well. Anyways I just thought I`d share.

I would love to see some reports when you all get back. I am a little starved for fishing at the moment so your reports will have to get me through another missed opener.

OFC should change to the politics thread, we have been talking more politics than fishing lately. That said this is an important issue and one that is been raised by many scientists inside and outside of the country. I don't think it is a stretch to say that the current government is not a big fan of science and statistics as it gets in the way of ideology, its funny how that works. On another point about the cbc being a lefty bias reporting agency, I am not sure I buy it. How does one explain the Dragons Den, Lang & O'leary, or Coaches Corner?

Petition Against Weakening The Fisheries Act.

Done, man you the government (feds and prov) is mucking things up when every other thread is related to issues with legislation and budget cuts. -
When the budget came out there was a small blurb but didn't sound good. If I am not mistaken all these cuts amount to 13-20 million dollars which has a huge impact on the management of the resources but is peanuts for balancing the books. My suggestion to the Liberals is they clean up the mismanagement in the large portfolios like healthcare before they gut the small portfolios like the MNR. Christ, what ornge has wasted would do wonders for the MNR. Very disappointing budget that showed no creative thinking and planning (and I am not anti-liberal)

This debate does seem to have gone very personal but I can see some merit on both sides of the argument. I am also not sure it is necessary to fish with roe anymore but I can definitely see some valid counter arguments so to lay blame entirely on guys that fish with roe is probably too simplistic. In my mind and I am no fisheries management guru you need the following for sustainable fishery: -Good quality habit -Reasonable restrictions on fishing through limits and seasons It sounds simple but is clearly not. So we need the CRAA and other groups to improve our waterways and we need the MNR to figure out what restrictions are needed. To me the first step is the reduction in limits from 5 to 2 on the Lake.
-
That is probably a true statement.

If your are near guelph The first Cast is a great place for sales help. I like my St.Croix rods but as for weight I don't fish pike so not sure if 10 or 8 weight is better.
-
Definitely agree on the limits. And that is another great point, no enough resources to enforce the current rules as is.

I could not have said it better, if it was all about food for the table it would be much more efficient to visit your local grocery store. On another sub topic of this very interesting thread, I would open to piloting a no roe/live bait fishing zone on the rivers. I'd be curious to see if it diminishes some of idiots we see and the total lack of regard for ethical harvesting, alot of you good steelhead anglers don't use roe exclusively anyways. That said this would punish the responsible angler.
