Great tip indeed...i have a question though. Would you soak the line in hot water before you spool it or after? Hey Roy i recently purchased some Maxima fluorocarbon that i planned on using as my main line on one of my reels this year. I was looking forward to it....what didn't you like about using flouro as a main line??

Hey guys thank you for all the replies. First, great video Lorne. I have never seen carp surface like that in moving waters here. Only places i`ve seen them surface like that were deep slow moving pools. I got in touch with Stephen, he suggested couple of things and he said he was going to take me out few times. Apparently he is an avid carp fly fisherman. Very generous on his part! Yea i 8wt is what i am after and a decent reel with a nice drag system. I wont cheap out on line...I usually dont cheap out on my tackle. More often then not you get what you pay for. Hey guys how is it going. With carp season fast approaching i am wanting to give this a try. I have never fly fished before, i am just wondering what would be a decent set up for about 150-200bucks. I know there are some great carp fishermen on this board so please chime in. There are couple of places where they just pool up on a really warm day and sun tan all day long. I think a fly would be a killer there! Basically I would need everything a beginner would need. Rod, reel, line and some assorted common carp flies i guess. Thank you

I am not sure how much carping you do, but maybe you should invest in a bait-runner. I`ve lost few rods to carp while waiting for that tip to bounce up and down. These guys grab the bait and run.

I am always up for a carp session with bunch of great fisherman.

Monster corn has become my bait to go. Its big, bright and smells sooo good. Carp love it.

I would buy about 10 glowing sticks and put them around my hut and maybe even more on the hut. You`ll glow green more then an alien but with all the idiots driving ski-doo`s these days you have to make sure they can see you from a mile away!

Few years ago my supervisor invited me to a stag-doe. I had no idea what it was (somewhat new to Canada at the time) so he just told me that it was a little party because his daughter is getting married. Didn't think twice about so i showed up with a present. Took me about an hour to actually realize what stag and doe was and i found it unbelievably cheesy and i promised myself to never go to another one ever again.
