Thanks for the comments guys. This year has been good to me when it comes to catching mirrors. This is already second one i got this year and only been out like dozen times.
-
I was wondering why you weren't picking up your phone. I completely forgot that you went away for couple of weeks lol. When are you coming back anyways??
-
I switched to the hair-rig later in the day when i changed fishing spots. FIrst place i went to was really shallow so i was just using corn and bottom bouncing it in pools full of carp. Second place was much deeper and water was muddy so i used hair rig with a feeder to attract some fish.

Corn and Maize. Tried worms as well but suckers and rock bass would not leave it be

Had a day off yesterday and what better way to spend my day then to fish. Stayed local, places i have not been to yet this yea. Fished from 8 am until about 1pm, here are few pics. Fish were in spawning mood and not interested in feeding at times. First 5 casts i think i had 5 fish on, then the fish got spooked and it slowed down. . Did manage to catch another mirror, second or third already this year. I caught about half of dozen of suckers as well, and few rock bass. After i had completely spook them, decided to move again. Water in this place was really murky and i was not expecting to catch anything but boy was i wrong. Had a run every 5-10 minutes for good 2 hrs. Here are few pics . Got a few more but did not bother taking anymore pics. This guy would appear more then few times. I think he was letting me know that i was intruding on his territory. He would just stick his head out and stare at me for minutes at time and then disappear. He was a decent size turtle, almost made me feel uncomfortable every time i had to net my fish. All in all a great day, between 20 and 30 fish caught, cant really complain. There were no monsters caught but the quantity made up for it. Hope you guys enjoy it. Tight lines

Nice fish. I saw a whole pile of them in shallows just yesterday, couldn't figure out what it was. They were mixed in there with suckers, fins were sticking out of water. It was kind of strange watching them move around, like mini sharks circling me hahah

Oh man that's a great fish! Too bad it lost one of its eyes somewhere along the way
-
My understanding is that they make it all the way up to Paris. But the closer you get to lake Erie the more common they are. If you ever drive through Caledonia stop by the dam and you`ll see people shoulder to shoulder fishing for rainbows.

Nice fish man. Were you fishing at desjardins park for one of the carpers get togethers earlier this spring. Your face looks familiar lol
-
Look at you go man, i don't think you were skunked once in that pond lol. Great report and nice fish.
-
There should be some decent carp spots close to lake Erie. Maybe some river mouths, they should be carp in there
-
Good luck Dan!

Those were some magic worms you left me, went back yesterday and not even a nibble. Of course i was using my own worms but no luck. I`ve seen about 6 or 7 roll on the other side of me tho, gotta figure out how to get there.

Great report Mike and beautiful fish. I`ll take you grand River carping if you take me steelheading . Great fish man just amazing.
-
If i remember correctly you were fishing Cayuga-dunnville area? I am not sure what Grand river is always murky down that way. My guess is that it has something to do with all dams in that area and maybe sandy bottom. There are huge carp in that area as well but it still might be a tad early. Hamilton has an amazing carp fishery, in few weeks time it should heat up.

I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw how clear the water was. I guess it serves us right for not taking our time to actually drive down to the river and check it out lol. That spot of yours has always been kind to me.

Hows it going guys? I had some worms in my car, didn't know what to do with them so decided to give Grand a go, better to drown them then them going bad in my trunk. That stench is unbearable. I was not sure what to expect, I thought river would be high and muddy but to my surprise it wasn't. Set up my rod and first cast i catch this mirror. Now this is the first mirror of the year and first one from this spot, quite the fish. Did not bring my net with me so i had to beach them. Better look, wasn't very big but still a fish After catching first one i am starting to feel better about the spot. Couple of minutes later 3 guys come to the other side of the river and start throwing spinners and crank baits, not sure what they were targeting but not much is open now but carp and suckers lol. After losing one at the hook set, recast again, 2 minutes go by and my alarm goes off and i get this guy THis fish was 28 inches long and as fat as Canadian football, i have never caught one this fat. another shot of the same fish. . There were couple of ducks swimming around and every time my alarm would go off they would come closer and closer. Maybe they thought it was a female duck looking for company lol. What would a day of grand river fishing be without one of these. Every time i use worms i catch few of these, too bad nobody eats them because the river is full of them. I did manage one more little guy that nearly took my rod in the water, if it wasn't for some grass on the ground maybe it would have. I didn't get a picture of it, just wanted to put it back in the water. As the sun went down, wind picked up and fishing died down. All in all a nice few hours spent, went 4/5 the best day of the year so far.

Did the same thing on my sister`s pc the other day. First time i saw system restore actually work and do what its supposed to do haha. Glad you fixed your problem tho

I am not sure what kind of fish you want to catch but if you are into carp fishing you can always try the fish barrier (desjardanis park i think its called). If you dont mind driving down to dunnville there is some decent catfish fishery, right in front of Fishmasters bait shop. Suckers are in there fairly thick as well.
-
I think you are itching to go fishing man haha. Stratford should start happening soon maybe even st marys. mmmm all that carp just for myself
-
Hey Peter it was great meeting you and fishing with you even though the fish did not co-operate all that well. We did manage 26 new inches for our team, before the trip i kind of hoped they would be catfish inches but it was not meant to be for us. We moved around a little bit and marked fish consistently but did not really have any hits other then on worms. Maybe not having two anchors and moving around a little bit had something to do with that who knows haha. I cant believe how lucky those guys were, i don't know how many times we casted in that area where they snagged that line and nothing. Maybe next time. I`ll probably make it down couple more times this spring/summer for some carp/catfish fishing. Next time we can just follow Steve around hahah And thanks for the pics by the way

Into the carp again, Same old trip it was back then.

I noticed that you lost quite a few of them over last week or two. Have you tried buying hooks especially made for carp fishing, they are ultra sharp and fish dont get off them that easy. -

Nice fish man! Its a beautiful fish and don't let anyone tell you otherwise:rolleyes: lol -
Yea while i was there nothing was caught, and people had already started leaving. Stayed there until about 3 30 and not even a single hit between 3 of us who were there. Couple more weeks and there should be fish thick in there
