  1. When young and didn't know better, tried to cook a Mergangser, a Hooded at that, smelled fishier than cooking fish, I would think a commorant would be worse. Wouldn't pull the trigger on anything that looked like a " Lawn Dart " after that
  2. When dad bought the cottage in Haliburton in the mid sixties there was nothing but smallies and pickeral in the lake, ten years later undesirables like WGSF and largemouth started showing up, no doubt there is crappie, bluegill, perch and who the hell knows what else in there now , been 20 years since I've been there. The Ministry put Lakers and Musky in there, Lakers OK , but why musky? none of the cottagers we knew wanted them.
  3. What about something like this for a cottage installation, seems to have more output than solar panels. http://www.windbluepower.com/Lite_Breeze_Low_Wind_Generator_Kit_p/cy-low-kit.htm
  4. Very nice, had a few gems like that years ago , but they all got bought up and are now very private.
  5. Nice cooler, I'd check that tire before you go anywhere
  6. My favorite period for music would be 65 to 75, just so happens that those are the same years I was in high school and university. I really don't think it is because it was the music of my youth though, it was just plain better then.
  7. A good way to maintain batteries is to use one of those heavy duty 24 hour timers and set it to turn on a trickle charger for an hour a day.
  8. Just did my census online, man it is going to be a mess with the evacuations because of the fire

If I don't do mine and get arrested, do I get free food and hydro?

  9. Only had a stepdaughter from 12 on but that seems high, maybe if they said to age 25 when they move out if you are lucky
  10. Mortgages always had the interest front loaded, 10 years in on a 20 year mortgage back then didn't mean you had reduced the principal by 50 %, not even close. 7X seems high, maybe in some markets ?? I don't see my 900 sq ft, , 2 bedroom bungalow being worth close to 400 grand.
  11. That is true Steve, but we were making but a fraction of the wages today. I started in 77 at just 5 and change an hour, maybe was making 10 in 1981, same wage scale as Stelco.
  12. I got one of those Hamilton lifetime jobs and the house that was 2 to 3 times my annual salary, retired now. But let me tell you the 19% mortgage rates of 1981 and double digit rates through the 80's was a nightmare, probably ate up as much or more of your income as the inflated prices today with the all time low rates of today, six or one half dozen of the other situation.
  13. Probably Bubba fixed a Flatfish that the rear screw eye pulled out.
  14. Ice Pilots NWT
  15. Don't those planes need open water to load their tanks, are the lakes even open there yet?
  16. Lowry only had 7 points including the buzzer beater
  17. When I had a season's launch pass, I had a window sticker for my vehicle. I know it is not quite the same thing but it didn't matter if I launched a different boat every time as long the vehicle remained the same.
  18. Why do farmed salmon need to hear anyways?? Anyway , this is a good thing, more ammunition to get them to ban salmon farming in Canada.
  19. For a moment I flashbacked to the Leafs -Bruins semifinals of , what was it 2012? Yeah they got it done, but not holding high hopes for further advancement. We watched them religiously during the regular season, they were a team of 4th quarter rallies, not collapses
  20. I saw a video phone call with him yesterday, think he was in Europe, he definitely wasn't ecstatic or jumping for joy, not sure if it was after the draft results, maybe he doesn't want to start his career with a loser. Edit : this is the clip I saw, you can see the excitement on his face and in his voice http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/matthews-feeling-mixed-emotions-draft-lottery/?row=0&row_id=1617477
  21. Ottawa picks 12th
  22. Nice From my vantage point here in Grimsby , it looked a little bumpy out there about 11 am, a few whitecaps breaking here and there.
  23. I use this one. http://www.steelheader.net/knots/whip_finish.htm
