Don't ever recall a spring chinook from shore but get them in the fall when they start sniffing around the creeks and harbour mouth with spawning urges. Browns are the main fish with lakers number 2, bows seems to lurk closer to outflows in spring cause of the spawning thing.

I catch all three shorecasting between Fifty Point to Grimsby pier, numerous parks and road allowances that dead end at the lake . Cleos , Crocs , Alligators and white curly tail jigs all take fish.

I'm sorry but as an angler and former fly fishing guy I don't get wanting the Atlantic back as a sport fish. I grew up in the 50's/ 60's watching greats like Lee Wulff and Ted Williams fishing the Miramichi and other east coast rivers on American Sportsmen. Catching the fish of kings as I have heard it called in one of the Lake Ontario ditches would be akin to some of penned type big game hunts, just not on my bucket list.

IMHO life was a lot better when a family could make a good living working a farm and big businesses like the automakers , steelmakers and up north paper and lumber mills were welcomed by the powers in government.

Started with steelhead decades ago but now use up eye snelled hooks for almost all applications. This is the knot I've used for 30 some years with no issues. Any fly tiers who can whip finish without a tool will quickly get the 2 finger twirl, for me, it is as quick as a clinch knot.
