  1. I believe they are the makers of the older Rapala knives, if I recall the engraving on the blades.
  2. I've never liked the really wide cone angles even on Lake Ontario. Downrigger balls or fish out near the edge of the cone may really be at 75 or 80 feet down but will show at the 100 foot depth on the finder, basic geometry.
  3. Sales usually start on Friday, watch the flyers , get a good vacuum sealer and load up at half price sometimes. Learn the cheaper cuts, for beef I like top sirloin steaks and sirloin tip roasts.
  4. On the farm we put a couple of benches in the back of a 3 ton stake truck, drove 7 miles into town at 6 am to pick up a dozen or so pickers during cherry season and took them home at 3pm , then loaded it with cherries to go to the cannery after supper. We did tarp it if it started to rain. Think dad's 64 Pontiac was the first car we had with seat belts.
  5. Female voice " this is an important message regarding your current credit card ............ SLAM " getting this one with regularity lately, as well as air duct cleaning services that sounds like they are based out of India or Pakistan but with Wasp sounding names. Oh, and getting the mailman hand deliver to our door 5 or 6 pieces of mail and lucky if 1 has our name on it
  6. Bargoon of the week in the flyers that start today seems to be fresh , boneless, skinless chicken breasts, both Basics and No Frills have them for $3.33 and $3.44 respectively. I buy the sales and vacuum pac and freeze, some of the non sales prices get bit crazy lately. I can't see stew meat being higher than the cheaper steak cuts, which it usually is ?
  7. Pay big bucks for a fancy factory Bose audio setup and then listen to lossy mp3's on it
  8. Mine was the exact same voice and recording as the youtube video but the number was changed to a 647 area code.
  9. Just got the red screen and just a test of the system a few minutes ago on our Bell Fibe TV.
  10. The clock in my vehicle has the right time half of the year, the rest of the time you need to add or is it subtract an hour? it's great to be retired
  11. Congrats on a PB, a few tanks there.
  12. Closing in on 50 years old and still what I consider the best live performance ever
  13. Got this call twice this afternoon
  14. Wow , I assumed your wildcard team would be to the first round of the playoffs not the finals. Definitely not.
  15. An all Canadian Division would make more sense. Wildcard slot sounds like a welfare slot as a player I would be embarrassed to make it that way, with the division they could hold their head a little higher.
  16. Just hang them by their tails for a hour before cleaning and then cut the heads off.
  17. As a kid the boiled dinner was the same cottage roll but mom used cabbage instead of the potatoes and of course carrots.
  18. While you can spear or dipnet suckers in most zones , Mar 1 to May 30th, Zone 17 is missing from that list, you will see it listed separately with a season from the second Sat in May to the end of May, at which time they hope the steelhead have moved on.
  19. I told him to read the regs for his area, it is generally allowed but he mentioned east end tribs and I know that some steelheaders freak if they see someone with a spear on their favourite trib so spearing is not allowed on some waters that receive runs of trout in the spring.
  20. From what I've seen, the Birds seem to be most popular with shallow water fisheries while deep water Great Lakes trollers are using more Lowrances and the fellas stateside are big on Raymarine and Furunos on bigger boats for deepwater salmon and trout.
  21. A Victorinox Boning Knife with a brass riveted , rosewood handle, that I had some one in the restaurant trade get me back in the seventies is my go to knife for larger fish as well as boning out a deer. Couple of original Rapalas for panfish. I have used a Spyderco sharpener since the 70's, just clean the ceramic sticks now and then with Comet Cleanser and its as good as new. edit;I like this sharpener http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=77
  22. I think you can even spear them , check the regs for your area under coarse fish and methods other than angling.. As teens we used to spear Pike in the spring too, but I am sure they put an end to that fun.
  23. I barely remember Blue Pickeral going out of Pt. Colborne with my dad in the late 50's. He would troll for Yellows with a June Bug spinner tipped with worm or worm harness , he actually used a light monel wire on a Pfleuger Rocket for depth, a precision troller even back then. The Blues were always caught by anchoring and fishing fairly deep water with minnows pretty much the same as jumbo perching is done in the same area today. Blues were never a big fish, not much bigger than a jumbo perch , big eyes and mottled somewhat like a Sauger.
  24. When I stored I would always arrange to be the last in because I wanted to be one of the first out. Smaller facility, no forklift, boats were moved around with a ball mounted on a old manual push reel lawn mower chassis.
