  1. New York State record was caught in 03 at 41 1/2 pounds, surprisingly it was caught in Lake Erie.
  2. Join the iboats forums, there is a lot of good aluminum restores documented in the Starcraft Discussion thread.
  3. WOW, very nice prize You sure the rod with it is 13 foot, I run a 10 1/2 with a moocher , that is pretty well standard. I find 10 1/2 long enough in a boat, especially alone.
  4. Three footers when the waves are building are far nastier than 3 footers when the waves are diminishing. Gone out many times both lakes after a good blow the previous day and found big swells but spaced way far apart after the winds diminished, at those times 3/4 footers are a non issue. Lake Erie being shallower blows up a bit faster but lays down quicker after a good blow.
  5. Just a Ruger No.1 here in the Bee, got an Anschutz in 22 Hornet as well, like the small chamberings, but got a 220 Swift if I need to reach out a bit. I assume you might have an original lever gun?
  6. There may be help in the near future, thought of this thread immediately when I saw this. http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/17/tech/dulse-bacon-flavored-seaweed/index.html
  7. Had a similar experience Doug. I was single for a long time, didn't get married to just a few months shy of 50. about 15 years ago I had internet and my parents wanted me to look up a group called C.A.R.P. Don't think there was google back then a search engine called AltaVista comes to mind, anyway do a search and I get this as the first response, a website called Celibate And Really Pathetic, sick joke mom and dad. Upon calling them they said it stood for Canadian Association of Retired Persons, but we all had a good laugh over that one.
  8. Walleye72, it was probably a CL-215, Canadian design although Hercs have been used for water bombing. Lew, the Confederate Air Force is still around but political correctness caught up with them and are known now as the Commemorative Air Force, this was long before the whole recent Confederate flag flap though
  9. I live a stones throw from the south shore of Lake Ontario, lots of activity in the sky. Constant helicopter traffic as I believe they are not allowed over water, Recently the Lancaster and B25 Mitchell out of Hamilton. Whenever a Herc is doing a low pass along the shore , you check the news and almost always there is a boating mishap on the lake.
  10. There's a good one on a Niagara fishing forum , as well, I assume caught this side.
  11. Bet it don't troll down very well
  12. Same here , nada, but there was a pretty good lightshow over the lake in the evening, started to rain just as I was going to bed about 11, got some well needed rain but if there was lightning and wind I slept thru it. No branches or debris down when I got up
  13. Without the self reeling it is most likely legal. The wording of the regs only allows the hook to be set by a rod under tension,so bent over in a rodholder attached to a release on a downrigger for instance is OK, but if there is any spring or mechanical device setting the hook you cross the line, I assume if it starts to reel in automatically you are also SOL. This seems to be nothing more than a built in bite indicator which as said are legal.
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong but the way the regs are worded this would be illegal in Ontario.
  15. Crazy, if you watch the sales here you can get the whole vacuum packed pork loins for 2 bucks a pound. Stick them in the freezer till they firm up a bit and with a sharp knife cut them into boneless pork chops or roasts . Brian B, that lean ground beef looks like reduced for quick sale from $5.03, good catch , by the time they get reduced here they are a funny shade of grayish purple from the light, that looks fresh still.
  16. Most launches I'm standing on dry ground at the winch , both on and off the trailer, never will go bunks again after a roller trailer.
  17. Superstore flyer here has got AAA certified Angus striploin grilling steaks @ $8.98 a pound, that is about the top of my snack bracket.

  20. Read somewhere this morning Bernier is asking for 5.1 a season and management is offering about 2 mil less, wonder how this is going to turn out. Don't think he is worth 5 honestly.
  21. These are grass carp , not quite as scary as the silver carp that you see exploding out of the water when a speed boat passes, none the less not a good thing.
  22. Get a real 870 Wingmaster not even an early Express. Even in the 80's Expresses had a finish that was a cheap imitation of Suncorite that was used on Lee Enfields, almost a painted on finish that easily scratched and chipped, like they used stove black on the metal. When looking for an older 870, try to get one that takes the RemChoke tubes, having a set of tubes will add to the versatility of the barrel over a fixed choke, especially in the field. I consider my personal 12 gauge , the best they made, a late 80's Special Purpose 3" 870 Magnum, it has a real walnut stock with cut checkering, came with sling swivels installed and a camo sling, 26 inch vent rib barrel with a full set of chokes and best is all the metal has a dark gray true phosphate Parkerized Finish. Yes, you will have to pry my cold dead fingers off it.
  23. it's sounds like a scam to get you to trade your old truck in on a new one, essentially that is what they are offering Bet you get more if your are trading up than walking away with it in your pocket.
  24. X3 on the 870.
