  1. Awesome pics. I love that area of Ontario. I spent a few months out that way when I was 17 (I'm 39 now) working as a "Junior Ranger". We were based around the Fort Frances area on Cuttle Lake. Best summer I've had with the most amazing walleye and pike fishing I've ever experienced. You are definitely lucky!
  2. I still have 2 of them in my box that are very productive lures. I think I got mine a few yrs ago at the BPS spring classic for a great price.
  3. Nice little runner!! As for the tires, like another member said....try "the Princess" for new tires. I'm actually heading there right now to get a spare for my ATV trailer.
  4. Blue Chrome suspending husky jerk has always been good to me when fishing for gators. "jerk, jerk, pause........jerk, jerk, pause" Hmmmmm...I really gotta think before I type! lol
  5. Been using power pro for years without any problems.....but just like anything, change can be a good thing. So this year I've spooled a few reels with Suffix 832. Plus, the 1/2 price sale at Canadian Tire a few weeks ago on the Suffix kinda helped with the decision to try change. lol
  6. I left my last employer who was a contractor for Rogers with no pension, to my present employer who offered me 50% more money and a company pension. Yes, I did go down to the bottom of the seniority list due to the new job being a union job, but I've since moved up the ladder with some of the older gents retiring and a few new guys being brought on. It was a good move on my part for both the long term(pension) and the short term(more $$$). A company truck never hurts either.
  7. St.Croix has new walleye targeting series rods called "Eyecon". I'm going to give the "snap-jig" model a go this season. Seems like a well priced rod at around $110.00 so we'll see how it works for me. I also grabbed an Abu Garcia Verdict to pair with my Abu Revo STX baitcast. Can't wait 'til the 4th Sat. in June up in the Kawarthas! Colin
  8. Awesome jobs so far guys. Myself, I'm a cable & line technician (Fibre optic splicer) for Allstream. Our crew of around 15 outside plant guys repair, maintain, build, test and trouble-shoot our network in and around Central Ontario, although the network runs coast to coast. Here are a few pics of my various "offices". My main office is my raised roof van seen here at Yonge & Richmond in Toronto Splicing in a rail-side tent at a train de-railment. Hanging up a splice encloure in a Toronto Hydro manhole. Taking down an enclosure at Derry Rd & Airport Rd. Sometimes we have to repair our cables when this happens......makes for an exciting and loooong day. Cheers, Colin
  9. Thanks for the info. I'll be heading up there this Sunday to help them start to get the place moved in. Going to take the quad up to do some exploring. Looks like a nice spot for sure.
  10. I, like BillM, live in Barrie which is a huge sand bed! Very tough to hold the water/moisture. I always lay down a few bags of peat moss mixed with top soil a few times a year, fertilize several times and over seed my lawn with quality seed throughout year. I don't water excessively because watering just enough, from what I've read, will make the roots go deeper as opposed to spreading out close to the surface if you constantly water. Multiple beers and conversing with the neighbours while watching the grass grown seems to work for me as well. Cheers, Colin
  11. My sister and her hubby just bought a "cottage" there (600ft of waterfront) and I was wondering if anyone has ever fished it? From what I've read there are lakers, whities, brookies and smallies there. I imagine I'll be spending a few weekends up there this year in btwn my Jacks Lake outtings in Apsley so any info would help. Colin
  12. lots of thunder, lightning and rain here in Barrie now (11:15pm) .......
  13. My family (my 2 boys, wife and myself), spent 2 weeks out that way last year and had a blast. Here's what we enjoyed....... - Cabot Trail is a must. Make sure your brakes are good though!! LOL Every guard rail is covered with paint from various makes and models of vehicles! LOL - Joggins Fossil Centre was a great way to spend the day. - Fortress of Louisbourg was very interesting - Hideaway campground was a great spot to relax for a few days. Lots of great sites over looking the ocean. - PEI is a must!!! Beautiful scenery. We camped at Linkletter Provincial Park in Summerside for 5 days. Great sites right on the ocean as well. - Meat Cove had the best clam chowder!! All in all it was an amazing drive. We, well I did the drive home from PEI in one shot.....17hrs straight & 1725kms. Everyone was super nice and the seafood was second to none. I think the most enjoyable part was not having any plans. We just packed up, and went, not knowing where we were going to end up. We really enjoyed stopping in all the little coves and fishing villages along the way. Pictou was a fun little town. Our entire 2 week trip took us a total of 5725kms. I'd do it again for sure! Have fun! Colin
  14. I get mine done at the canadian tire gas station on Mapleview....probably not the cheapest ($18) but at least I can check out the tackle when I'm done. lol
  15. I recently purchase my refill adaptor from a big box store (Lowes). I haven't had the chance to use it yet.....and no, I didn't "jimmy-rig" something up with pieces from the bbq section and plumbing wall ..lol. It's a Mr. Heater refill adaptor.
  16. So you're the culprit Bill. lol I stopped in there this morning while I was waiting for the propane station to open. I was hoping to grab another spool of 10lb test but they were all gone.....only 50lb left. Colin
  17. As another member said it's called "My Side of the Mountain" I love this movie!! I did have a copy that I downloaded of a torrent site but it wasn't that good. It was good to watch with my kids. Kinda reminded me of myself when I was younger.....heading out to the woods, making a shelter, cooking hot dogs........etc. Hope you find it.
  18. Bill, Yep...nothing but a small table full of CRAP at the south end Barrie store........but they do have rakes on sale! hahahaha
  19. "I bury those c ock-a-roaches!" LOL Great flick with some awesome lines!
  20. Bob, Yeah, I made sure of that. It's nice and weather-proof! Colin
  21. Just an upddate......I went up on the roof, took off the LNB, hooked up a new coax cable to it and ran it into my sons room......worked like a charm. Appreciate the help guys!!! Colin
  22. I love the old price tag on those old rapalas. lol $1.85.
  23. I have all the coax lines already running into the house so it's just a matter of correctly hooking everything up coming off of the dish.
