Another one I wanted to call him was "Wes Mantooth"...but the wife wouldn't go for it. lol

Back in April we lost our dog Domi of 14yrs. He was a big old husky/sheppard that went about 130lbs. He lived a long and good life and we hated to lose him. After a long search, we finally chose a new pup last night and put a deposit down on a 3 week old male Victorian Bulldog puppy. We will picking him up middle to late December and are very excited. We're tossing around a few names but it would nice to hear some cool, original names that you guys could come up with. Here's a few that we were tossing around. Revo Ozzy Bubba Koda Jack Cheers, Colin Here's Domi enjoying one of his last treats........his last meal was a nice 1lb raw Sirloin steak I got for him. (I've never cried so much watching a steak being eaten before) Here's the new pup at 3 weeks old.

I went to Canadian Tire and looked at the Flambeau gun case that was on sale for $29.99 but it was to small height-wise. It would crush my reel if I tried to close it. So, I'm out in the garage tryin' to make something today. Will post some pics when done. Colin

I agree with FamilyFisherman and others when they say go out with friends a few times.....if not for an entire season on the ice. Buy yourself a good rod/reel and some warm clothes and head out with buddies that have the proper gear. Learn the lakes, techniques and tricks and then decide if you really want to invest in the sport. I started off like everyone else here....walking out, sitting in the elements,no fish finder, getting skunked.(I know some of you still do this) hahaha. Then moved into a pop-up hut with a fish finder catching a few now and again. Now I have 2 flip-over style huts, gas auger, good fish finder, heater, atv and totally enjoy heading out with buddies that are in your situation Dana. Nothing like seeing someone new to ice fishing hook into a nice laker or whitey. Makes it all worth-while. Have fun and don't break the bank in your first season.......wait til the next hardwater season to do that!!! Cheers, Colin

Good ideas so far.

Hey guy/gals. With ice fishing being just a few months away I'm starting to get my gear in order. I've always used rods that are 28" in length so there were never any problems loading them into my Fish Trap Guide or Frabill Commando. This year I purchased a few ice rods which are longer..... 32", 36", and 42". I know they wont fit in my Guide under the seat so I'm looking for some ideas/pics of how you carry them on your ATV's specifically. I was thinking about either building a box behind the 2-up seat or just attaching a few pvc pipes to the 2-up seat so the rods can stand sraight up and down. I don't think they make rod holders for 42" ice rods but I could be mistaken. Any ideas or pics would be appreciated. Colin

I've always had luck with green/black meegs tipped with a green micro tube or a chartruese/black tipped with a chartruese micro tube.

about 4 yrs ago I picked up an 8" jiffy model 30 from Walmart for $175.00. Clearance rack, brand new. It was the last one......if they had more I would have bought them all!! It has been awesome. No problems at all. I'd definitely buy another.

Williams 1/2 & 1/2 hammered and dead sticking a white tube. Lipless cranks seem to be getting some attention the past year as well (Rapala clackin' rap or Live Target Golden Shiner).

Welcome back........I don't want to sound like an idiot but I see 2 things wrong with your post. 1) drinking and driving a car/truck 2) driving to go to your boat to go for an evening fish.(sorry for assuming this as you could've been going to fish from shore) I'm glad you're getting your life back together but I'm also glad you got caught. I've lost too many buddies to people that have only had "3" drinks. Sorry if I sound harsh man but it kinda hits home.

I have the exact lure in my box, but mine is black with dark grey scales....... the hook is pretty darn rusty though. Still works great with a 8" plastic on it!

I'm with the Toyota guys. I drive an '07 Fj Cruiser which is the Tacoma chassis with the FJ styling. I tow my dads princecraft 176 around without any problem. I was "lucky" enough to have the wife get into a head on collision and write-off the Durango Hemi so I could get the FJ. (don't worry, she escaped without a scratch and it wasn't her fault) lol. I've never been happier with any vehicle I've owned or driven. Such a solid truck with enough power to do anything I want. I'm even thinking about getting another one for the wife so I can modify our existing one.

I fish Simcoe for lakers and whities and I'm usually fishing in a portable hut. On my rods I use 10 and 15lb red power pro braid along with an 8lb, 5' long seaguar leader. On my sticks I use 17lb mono along with the previously mentioned leader. I've never had any problems with these set-ups and I ice fish in the deep water from ice-in to ice-out. Cheers, Colin

There's a place near my work which recycles skids. I have stacks of awesome hardwood that I burn all year in my backyard and at my trailer. They put out the disassembled skids for the public to pic through. I usually grab a few hundred 4' X 3" X 3" pieces every week. Sure there's nails that you must watch for when cutting but the stuff is super dry and burns great.......and it's free.

I drive from Barrie to the airport area just to get my work for the day. Then I could be downtown, Markham, kitch/waterloo, london, Belleville, Niagara, Mississauga etc.. .......you get the picture. lol Helps that I have a company truck though. Ahhhh....the life of a fibre splicer. I love it!

Awesome bucket! Looks like a skinny largie, especially in the second pic. Doesn;t seem to be anything in it's gut. It's a real beauty none the less!! Congrats on your PB. I agree with BillM about the largies slurping a topwater bait.....especially the big ones. Unless you're fishing the skinny water in the slop. Then they tend to explode like the smallies do.

I'm in Barrie as well and I think I caught a whiff of those earlier! YUMMY! Tacos just ain't cutting it tonight!! lol

torrent sites are the best. You don't need to download the entire CD either. You can check box the songs that you want to download when prompted. I usually go for the entire CD library for a particular band....like RUSH, Zeppelin, The Who, AC/DC to name few..heehee

You know what...I'm not really sure. Everytime I drive by they look like they are. I've been hitting up Tromblys Tacklebox this summer on the way to the kawarthas so I haven't been to Rack n' reel since winter.

I'm a fan of the triggerx leeches. I used them a lot in the Kawarthas drop-shotting for smallies. Seemed to "trigger" the bite when all else failed. I totally agree with the mass amount of packaging and I also found that the minnow styles were pretty stiff.

I've bought some from Rack 'n Reel in Barrie before for winter pike.
