  1. Check Kijiji for your tires. I have a Toyota FJ Cruiser and just replaced my stock dunlops with a set of Hercules Trail Diggers M/T (also made by Cooper) that I got from a guy on Kijiji. $400 for the set. Yes, they were used but barely. His wife didn't like the road noise. His loss is my gain!! Still had the "blue" on the raised white lettering. These tire look bad ass! As BillM said, BFG are awesome tires as well......they were almost my choice. I just wanted a little chunkier tire and something that you don't normally see on an FJ Cruiser.
  2. Raising a beer to yet another season of disappointment.
  3. Tough decision. option 1- My in-laws retired to Costa Rica option 2- I spent some time around Fort Frances when I was younger as a Junior Ranger with the MNR....awesome awesome place to fish. option 3 - My dad's family lives out west in BC and my uncle has a 34' Commander boat in which we went on a week long cruise in the inlets....OMG...so amazingly beautiful!!! Some many options, so little $$$$$ and time! LOL Colin
  4. You're a great father and husband to make that tough decision. I think I'm going to give my wife a big hug and kiss and say thanks to her for putting up with and supporting my 4 season "addiction". I'm a lucky guy to have a wife and 2 boys who totally love the out of doors. Both boys enjoy fishing, the youngest and bit more then the oldest, but my 19 yr old has a few priorities now as did we all at that age. My wife isn't much for actually fishing, but she will and has on several occasion just sat in the boat, in the ice hut, or on the side of a bank just to be outside. Do what you need to do but make sure you never totally give up this great passion we all call fishing! Colin
  5. At the time I posted my original thread, Yahoo sports did have on their site that it was cause by an OD of prescription drugs. I guess it has since been removed. My apologies for jumping the gun. I only stated what I read. Colin
  6. Wade Belak was found dead today in a Toronto Condo. An accidental overdoes of prescription drugs is believed to be the cause. Another one gone at a very young age.
  7. I personally take the drinking and driving thing very seriously. I lost 2 good friends just over 20yrs ago when I was a younger lad in Apsley. One of them could've been me but I was "too tired" to go out that night. Needless to say, the driver was drunk and split his camero in two while running from the cops in Peterborough. The driver, who survived, was sentenced to 7yrs vehicular manslaugher. My 2 buddies, Jack and Ray were killed. Does any sentence really fit the crime if a death is involved....I don't know. I truley hope Tobin learned his lesson. I know my buddy that did live learned his and regrets his decision every day of his life. Cheers, Colin
  8. If you're new to fishing and know what species you'd really like to target, I'd suggest a day trip somewhere with a guide. The guide would help you with technique, tackle, tricks and tips for future outtings which in turn would make them way more enjoyable. There are several guides on here that would be more then willing to take you out. As for your original question......I second the Kawarthas.
  9. 1 - senkos 2 - weedless frog (live target) 3 - flappin' shad or YUM horny toad style (rigged weightless & weedless to drag over pads and slop) 4 - flippin' jigs 5 - some sort of popper style lure
  10. The area where I saw the guy dump it was just outside an area where I fish for largies. This area right now has about 2FOW and is maybe 100-150m away from the trailer park and approx 500m away from the marinas of the lake. So, it's in the busiest areas of the lake but kind of out of the way due to the shallow water.
  11. I get those all the time on kijiji when I sell stuff. You recognize the scammers pretty easily after a while.
  12. No, unfortunately I didn't nor did I go check them out. I probably should have. They could've been crappie for all i know. I was just curious about the dumping action at this time.
  13. Either a Live Target frog or a YUM Horny Toad weedless and weightless rigged.
  14. People who I talk with around campfires at the trailer park I am a part of have been noticing a lot of fish remains in the water. Full carcasses, minus the fillets, and the skins of the fillets. We weren't sure where they were coming from. Well, today, dad and I were out fishing and I noticed a boat stop, and dump out a 5gallon pail of fish remains, then speed away towards the marina. I was a good distance away so I couldn't say anything but it was clear that it was remains. I'm just wondering if this practice is legal or illegal. There has been quite the bear problem this year so maybe it's a safe way to dispose of them?!?! I dunno. Cheers, Colin
  15. Awesome fish Bill. Congrats to the old man! That's quite the greaser!
  16. Great pics of such destruction. Mother nature can be nasty sometimes!
  17. Thanks for the comments guys. It's hard to believe that about 3 weeks ago we had dad's 17ft Princecraft in that slop. Now we can barely get the canoe in there. It's still a great place to fish......even if we don't catch anything. Blue Heron's, turtles, deer, and other wildlife usually keeps us entertained.
  18. I've been spending the weekends and holidays up at Jack Lake in Apsley where we have a trailer and doing lots of fishing of course. I have a favourite place to fish which is just "around the bend" from the camp that I love to fish in my canoe and have been doing so since I was 10yrs old. Needless to say, my 2 boys have fished there with me as well. My oldest is busy working so it's just me and the young lad fishing these days. This past weekend we hit the spot with the canoe and caught a few nice ones in the skinny water. As we were paddling home, I said to my son, "you keep casting and I'll paddle". Within 2 mins he had nice hit on his white "rage tail" and fought the hog like a pro through the slop. Could a father be more proud??? Here are a few pics of our outting this weekend. I love getting showed up this way. Colin A nice one to start the weekend. Caught on a YUM Horny Toad. Brody said he liked the "Rage Tail" A colourful litte guy. I guess he does like the "Rage Tail". I think the $6000.00 smile say's it all! LOL
  19. Pure ignorance and disregard for the rules, regulations and law. I wonder if the MNR conducted a search of their personal freezers, etc. If they had 21 illegally caught walleye, I'm darn sure they would've had more stashed somewhere. At least they can't play the "I can't read english" card since the rules and regs are in several languages now. Yes, they did get caught and good for the authorities but I personally think that the penalties are way to soft.......it's becoming a terrible trend. A total of $4100 between 3 "gentlemen" and all their fishing gear seized is pathetic. For all we know, they could've been using $20 rod/reel combos and worms as well.
