  1. I have an '07 FJ Cruiser and absolutely love it.....would buy another in a heartbeat. It's built on a Tacoma chassis with the same 4.0l V6 in it as well. I pull my dads 18ft Princecraft around with no problems. Prior to the FJ I was in an '07 Dodge Durango with the Hemi in it. The wife wrote it off (not her fault) so with the insurance $$ we got the FJ. HUGE difference in the rides. I also use the FJ for back lake fishing trips as it's a super capable off-roader right out of the box. Yes, you'll pay more, but you might as well get exactly what you want when you purchasing a vehicle.
  2. Hey Jesse..I've always had good luck on both species using a blue chrome/silver husky jerk (HJ14 or HJ12 size). But this is in the Kawarthas. I've never fished Point Au baril for them. Colin
  3. Although Ozzy isn't an American Bully, He's still a Bully. He's a 5mth old Victorian Bulldog and an awesome dog! People always mix him up with an american bulldog or Staffordshire Terrier. Cheers, Colin
  4. I still think $100/hr for a rescue worker is cheap. As a fibre optic splicer, my company charges at least that much for me....if not more. Sure, I take my life in my hands work the night shift in downtown Toronto, but still!! hahaha
  5. I think "that guy" lives in the fishing section! LOL Very helpful though I might add.....especially with rainchecks. I remember last year when he almost lost his marbles with excitement because they finally stocked Seaguar flouro!
  6. Now you guys have me trying to decide btwn a pontoon or kayak!
  7. No, I use it on my baitcasters.....mostly for the flippin' and pitching reels where I don't want to spool 150yds of braid on them. I know you asked about float fishing, but I'm just adding my 2 cents about what I use it for. Cheers, Colin
  8. I bought a few spools just to use as backing on my reels. Can't go wrong for the price!
  9. I love the Eyecon I got last year. I paired it with a Pflueger Supreme reel and it is one of my fav set-ups.
  10. I paired my Revo STX with a Abu "Verdict". Yes, the Verdict is stiff but man, can it pull buckets out of the slop. A great mid-priced combo in my opinion.
  11. I'm a fan of the Abu Garcia Revo STX......been using mine for 2 years and have been very happy with it.
  12. A fishfinder or flasher is a must on the ice.....especially when targeting deepwater species.
  13. I'd say humpback creeper. Meegs have a bigger head in relation to the body. BTW.......the new Meegs are awesome. New colour schemes. Thanks James.
  14. Love my Abu Verdict / Revo STX combo with 50lb Sufix 832, and my St. Croix eyecon snap jig / pflueger supreme xt combo.
  15. I would totally lend you my one man Frabill Commando but the only thing is I don't have a tow-bar for it. I only have the one tow-bar and I'll be using it this weekend. It does have a cover as well. Plus, I'm in Barrie. Cheers, Colin
  16. Ask the clown who keeps chopping 2'X2' holes around shanty bay and not marking them. Buddy is out there every day working like Paul Bunyan. There's my rant for the day.
  17. I once drove from the Beer Store to my house with a 24 pack on my roof......and here I was thinking that everyone honking at me just wanted to say "hi"! LOL
  18. MJL.....look closely at pic #3 ...heehee
  19. Not a fast and furious weekend by any means but some fish were caught so that makes it allllll good! Caught and few...missed a few but what can ya do. Good friends and good weather make it a great time...........catching some nice fish is a bonus. Tubes did most of the damage for me. Here are a few fish from the weekend. Cheers, Colin
  20. So, as a 40th birthday gift to myself, I'm thinking about upgrading my fishfinder from my x67 icemachine to something else. I'm looking for something that will be good for icefishing as well as on my dads 18ft Princecraft for the softwater. The units that I'm looking at are all Lowrance brands. Elite-5x, Elite-5x DSI and the HDS-5x. I'd probably buy the unit and then purchase the portable ice pack seperate. Any pros and/or cons with these units from first hand experience on the ice and or the softwater?? I have been totally happy with my Lowrance x67. Absolutely no problems in the years I've used it so that's why I'm sticking with Lowrance. Thanks and looking forward to the replies. Colin
  21. Ordered mine online Dec. 30th and received my card in the mail Jan 30th. I think I can live with a month turn around time.
  22. .....and I'm thankful I'm a bit shorter then you Bill! I second the Integrity HX.
  23. I love living in Barrie - there's always something to do. I commute to the airport area everyday and leave my house at 6:30am and it usually takes 1 1/4hrs. The good thing about the commute is that there is more then one way to head south....the 400 isn't the only way. Yes, Barrie does have some worse areas then others but nothing to worry about IMO.
  24. Hey Bill....i was up in Dwight last weekend and Gravenhurst yesterday - sled rippin' around all over the place. Definitely enough to keep the sliders lubed. Colin
