  3. I took my son to a lake for bass fishing, I asked him if he ever fished a Texas Worm, he looked at me really weird and said no, We went out to fish for bass the next day and I hooked him up with a plastic worm, texas style, and I could not believe the 20 inch largemouth he caught on his first cast towards a weed bed, I just acted like that was the "norm" for fishing weed beds, Texas worm style, hang my head in shame, lol
  4. AHHH yes Retirement is great, I put in 38 years in Stelco, Hilton Works, Machine Shop. Twelve years ago, Now I get paid via pension plan not to come in anymore, Life is a gift and every day I am thankful for my wonderful wife, Dianne, and family.
  5. https://www.owensoundsuntimes.com/news/local-news/body-recovered-after-boat-sinks-on-colpoys-bay Life jackets are important, but so is common sense. Someone in this article is charged DUI causing death. Let's all be careful out there on the water.
  6. I would check the "regs " on that faded label issue, seems just too ridiculous to have any point to it. That really sucks that you got a ticket for such a trivial thing..
  7. looks like a starter kit for the next generation,
  8. A friend of mine was fishing alone in the late fall on Lake Nipissing in a 14 foot aluminum boat, when he got to the Manitou Islands to fish he was excited to get a line wet and shut the engine down BUT he left the engine in gear. When it was time to go home, he stood up to start the engine, it started and the thrust threw him right out of the boat, he was all alone, no lift jacket on and his boat started to go round and round him, he got close enough to grab a piece of rope that was hanging over the side of the boat and he managed to pull himself up and into the moving boat. Then he had a long and very cold fast ride back to his home in Callander Bay, He almost died that day but got back home and survived, plain lucky.. He even said how stupid his decisions were that day.

  10. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy, Healthy New Year, say a special thank you to all of our first responders and the military people who protect us each and every day. Also, don't forget to ask Santa to put a little "treat" under the tree for all of our 4 legged friends who enrich our lives and ask for nothing in return. Rick and Dianne.

  15. I bought a used 1959 Desoto in 1964, went home and stopped at the local ''Super -Test" Gas Station for gas. Car was almost empty on fuel when I picked it up, Almost had a heart attack when the pump went past $7.00 to fill it up, total cost was $7.29 for gas at .29 cents a gallon. I was earning $39.00 a week as a blueprint apprentice at a Print Shop in Hamilton. My first house cost me $26,500.00 in 1973. I grossed for the previous year $9,800.00 to qualify for a mortgage of $25,000.00 Mortgage payment was $218.59 per month, I lost sleep over how I was going to pay for it.!! Don't know how the young folks today afford the huge mortgages, 2 cars, kids, and all the rest. Just blows me away!!!!!
  16. I sure do remember him, at the end of the commercial ad , he would salute the audience and say "Happy Motoring" , He sent a lot of business to Esso Stations across the Nation, R.I.P. Murray

  18. Sun damage is a very serious matter, I went to a Dermatologist for a check up and was diagnosed with Actinic Keratosis which is a rough scaly sign of early skin cancer. I am all healed now since early detection was key in positive treatment, I always wear my hat and cover my eyes with high quality sun glasses, cost is not a matter when it comes to saving your vision from sun glare. Just my ho, play safe out there..
  19. I totally agree with Sir Cranksalot that this is news right now but it will just be added to the list when another terrible incident such as this happens again, Very sad indeed..

  22. I was ice fishing out of St. Williams , shallow water, around 6 feet, water was very cloudy and grayish. Previous trips from other times, water was always very clear, hmmmmm. no perch or any bites at all, decided to try for pike so I tied on a large Red and White Spoon and started bottom bouncing it, felt a tug and set the hook. HAH, what I brought up thru the hole was a BBQ chicken carcass. In a while the water cleared up and we started catching some nice perch. Still had a good time.
  23. wow. I have been trying for 2 days to post here. The text is dark--wonderful. Background is very very distracting, please get rid of it. why change anything???? IT WAS GREAT THE WAY IT WAS. 25. He passed away today, aged 89. Natural causes. I loved his music and always will, great cruising sounds for us of that generation. He had many hits and did concerts with Rick Nelson. His version of Blueberry Hill has many memorys for many people, haha. May he rest in peace in Rock and Roll Heaven..
