  1. Oh and I hope that no matter where we are we can still enjoy our visits with you guys too! You are both so easy to spend time with. LOL, you see, memories keep flooding in, the boys feeding the chipmunks I think we have the fattest chipmunks in the whole darn area. I had one that came right in, got up on my computer and generated random key strokes. (well I thought they were random until I realized they all came out "give me more peanuts or else"). Seriously though you have a beautiful family and I would love to spend more time fishing with you or just hanging out! We won't loose touch!
  2. Ok, I would just call it "heaven and earth" A flavor from heaven and all the good basics from earth!
  3. Ok, it took a minute, I'm old but I did get it Oh wait, if Obama has his way there won't be any guns in America. Won't work!
  4. Still got that picture of Sydney swimming in our big corner bath tub with her life jacket on? You sitting here playing your guitar, BBQs on the deck. That picture of Sydney sitting on my lap with her arms around my neck because she didn't want to go home....Oh what wonderful memories my friend!
  5. Try to look at it in a positive light my friend, I to am 70 so I totally understand where someone 65 probably wouldn't. We have enjoyed the best of the best for the last number of years. Now it is time for us to sit back and let someone else enjoy it while we sit back and enjoy watching them enjoy it! We can still go fishing or whatever but we just have to pace ourselves and let someone else do the work LOL.
  6. We have been talking about it for a year or so; we love this place and have enjoyed 15 wonderful years here, so many memories of the kids, grand kids, neices, nephews, friends, swimming, fishing, sitting by the fire.......It sure has been wonderful and the memories will stay with us for the rest of our lives. We have been so blessed to have the most wonderful friends and family, if it weren't for them this move would have probably happened a few years earlier. Heck I remember one year I posted on here that I needed help putting my docks in: 16 people showed up on the most miserable day you could imagine in April and before they left the docks were in! I needed to do some landscaping stuff: wiskeywizard (Mike) and manjoe39 (Paul on his holidays) showed up and spent two days here slugging sand and laying interlock. Mike even handed me the key to his tractor because I had about 30 yards of gravel to move. They wouldn't take anything for it, they just did it because that's the kind of people they are. One year I even posted that we wanted to adopt a son, someone that we could share our good fortune with but that would also help us; enter Shawn and Simon (pikeslayer). Turned out that Shawn would be going to school here in Lindsay and needed a place to stay. Friendships developed, their famly became part of our extended family and is to this day! Over the years we have met so many wonderful people here and had the pleasure of sharing their company, oh I wish I could list them all but that would take a very long time and I'd probably miss someone and feel really bad about it. From time to time we tend "not to remember" (we don't forget, we just don't remember) until something triggers it and it all floods back. Roy having a nap on our deck, Beans coming back after a fishing trip with Albert and looking like a wet dog, a 7 year old landing a 43" muskie off our dock on a Spiderman fishng rod..... How do you put 15 years of wonderful into a post like this. Selling the boat and ATV are going to be hard for me to do as well, both are in excellent condition but with us down sizing I'm just not going to have room for the ATV and my little Rogue just can't tow a boat this size so I'll probably just get myself something that I can still handle. It will all work out! Anyway, I know there are some real-estate agents on here, if you have the time to look at our listing and offer any advice it would be most welcome. We decided to sell it privately for a couple of reasons but there is a buyers rep incentive available. The property Guys sign # is: 195744 Moving on (but not up just yet)
  7. Congratulations to all that had a hand in making this happen, you may very well have kept a fishery open to law abiding fisher people that would have otherwise been closed!
  8. Come over to my place, snow on my deck so deep I could hardly get the door open enough to get out., drifts about 2' deep, just spent two hours out there with the snow blower cleaning up and then had to shovel off the deck again just to get back in the house. Oh I need a nap!
  9. That's about what it looked like here but I sure wouldn't have wanted to be out on Simco in it, it was wild enough and I was in the house!
  10. Thanks, to be honest with you I would have thought it would have been quite a bit higher than that.
  11. When I first moved up to Elliot Lake I decided to try for some hard water rainbows. I found a place just off a point on a small lake where someone else had fished and there was a bit of blood on the ice so I figured they must have caught some fish. I set up with a minnow hooked through the back and a piece of split shot about 18" above that. When I put my line down I found I was in about 15' of water. After fishing for about an hour without a bite I decided to move, I reeled up one of my lines but left the minnow in the water about 2' below the ice. As I was reeling up my second line my first line went off, so I dropped line two (which was now about 2' under the ice) and proceeded to land a nice rainbow. No sooner did I have the first fish on the ice and the second line went off, again another nice rainbow. The rest of the day and many trips after that I fished about 2-3 feet below the ice and believe me I landed a lot of hard water rainbows. Hope that helps! Good luck and enjoy.
  12. Ya, they are actually spending it like it isn't even their money, go figure!
  13. Oh I've been told several times that I could make a very good lesbian
  14. Well, can we at least judge Wynne on what she has done already?
  15. I would love to know what % of Wynnes votes came from the gay community, not because they thought she would be good at the job but because she came out saying she was a lesbien. (just for the record I don't have any problem with anyone's preferances as long as they don't try to impose them on me.)
  16. That's more than my gross earnings last year! INSANE!!!!!
  17. The biggest problem with the last elections (both provincial and federal) isn't that the Liberals won, it's that there wasn't any viable alternatiave. Not saying that O'leary is a good alternative but we at least need someone to stand up and chalange the liberals. I do think he would (and is) doing that!
  18. I don't know, "lost another one" still seems to fit if he just puts NF after it
  19. Even if it is only a year or two it's better than sitting around waiting until we can't. Oh those shrimp and the Lancaster ice tea are two family favorites LOL. No matter where we are, you two will always be welcome at our table and if all goes according to plan anything we get will be big enough for company to come and stay.
  20. Ya but they hit the garage and bounced right back in
  21. Was beautiful here then about 5 minutes ago I couldn't see my boat house (50' away), hope everyone is safe!
  22. Thanks for your reply, it was well thought out and very much appreciated. I am 70 and have been finding it really hard to keep up with everything that does need to be done around here. We have been very lucky, we have so many friends that willingly help with docks or anything else that needs to be done. I have been able to keep working but the time is coming fast that I won't be able to, not many people want a 70 year old even if I can keep up with guys a lot younger. The cost of keeping this place just keeps going up and my pensions don't so before we have to start burning up our equity in this place, selling it and downsizing seems like a good idea. We wouldn't just go RVing, Sue has her eye on a beautiful modular home that would suit our needs for a base right here in Lindsay quite nicely, the motor coach would allow us to travel to visit friends and family but still have our own space (at our ages we both have to get up a few times a night and it makes it hard when you are in someone elses house). We'd both like to spend a lot more time on the East Coast and motels are ok, it still requires a lot of packing and un packing; sleeping in different beds in different surroundings. It was fun when we were younger but there is something to be said for sleeping in your own bed every night. It will be sad to leave this place, the fishing off the dock is spectacular; sitting under the big basswood on a hot summer day with the breeze blowing off the lake; watching the world wake up while enjoying a morning coffee on the deck over looking the lake as an osprey fishes for it's breakfast..... Ya, it will be hard but there is a time for everything.
  23. I really don't care who it is but I'd vote for anyone that is willing to take on that stupid, ignorant thing that is spending our money like there is no tomorrow. There has to be some accountability and all "it" has done so far is dictate. It has said it numerous times already, it doesn't care what we think, it is doing it it's way!
  24. Thanks Shane, and yesterday was a massive warm front.
