A 16' with a 15 hp isn't a boat, it's a barge!

Mine was going to be 22 bundles of shingles and they wanted $4600.00 to remove the old ones and put on new ones. Cost me $5200.00 to have it done in steel and the house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
-
I can't tell you how to fix the old roof but if you do have to replace it consider going to steel. It cost me $600.00 more to do mine in steel than it was going to cost to do it with shingles and it has a 40 year paint warranty.

Thanks for texting those pictures Shane. Like I said I would have been scared to death having to face something like that. Hope everyone made it home safe.

10 foot crack? that would have scared the daylights out of me! How did you get across that?
-
That would have made my day! Are you shopping? It's tough to admit but I just can't do all the things that are needed around here anymore, it's time to down size and do a little traveling while we still can. Both Sue and I would like to spend some time on the East Coast a coach would make it much easier.

If you were having a tough time then I'm willing to bet everyone else was too!

Now I thought today wouldn't have been too bad, a warm front started moving in yesterday and while it is windy there is a bit of cloud cover. I am thinking early tomorrow would be the best bite with things dropping off later in the day as the colder air starts to move back in. Any reports from today and tomorrow would sure help this thread.

And the line up at the trough keeps growing NF

Yup, didn't say Liberals at the trough but I do believe that prior to this their budgets were frozen. -
We went on Friday because we are thinking about a motor home (was still half price) . There were a lot of trailers there but not too many motorhomes. I thought the show was well done, we got to talk to several dealers and learned a lot. Sue spent quite a bit of time looking at park models and found a few that she really liked, I was really surprised at how affordable they were. We also found a motor home that would suit our needs perfectly at a price that was a lot less than we expected. We still didn't pull the trigger on it, got a couple of things to take care of first like selling our place but I think that may be happening fairly soon. For the money I think it was probably one of the best shows I have been to in a long time.

Driving To Florida - Detroit or Buffallo
Big Cliff replied to FLEX ROD's topic in General Discussion
Yup, done it many times, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Do both and enjoy. -
That's a really good point! The minute you post a childs picture and any information about them you are opening up the possibility that some sicko will try to take advantage of them. They have a picture, know they like fishing, know what their fishing clothing looks like and from Dad's profile might already have an idea of a home base. Boy it is so easy to go from there...... As for posting fishing related things; you have to be so careful. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten emails and PMs giving me poop because I shared what someone else thought was their "secret"! I am very cautious now about what I do post that is fishing related.

Simple, don't like em, don't read em! It did have NF in nice big caps. -
This relates mostly to ice fishing: I know how a cold front coming in can affect walleye fishing but I really haven't done a lot of perch fishing. Most of the times I have gone I have looked for stable temperatures or a warm front approaching and most of the time when I have gone I have done reasonably well. I have fished sunny days, cloudy days, transition days; all seemed to produce reasonably. There are several people on here that like to target perch and I was wondering if you find that a cold front coming in has a major affect on the bite?

Just another $25,000,000.00 while they pile more taxes on the working people and seniors. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/mps-25-million-budget-1.3467220

or crazy glue a small piece of red wool to the shank of a # 6 hook and use a minnow hooked through the back

Well I know it's on the other side of the lake from you but I have seen some of the fish coming out of Beaverton and there have been some beautiful catches. Might be worth the hour drive around the lake to fish that side. It is a long walk out though if you are hoofing it.

Been here since almost the beginning, tried other fishing boards and you would post a question and wait a few days. Sometimes you would get an answer, sometimes not. When I go fishing with my friends we talk about all sorts of things, family, friends, cars, computers, politics, religon......(and sometimes even fishing LOL). Well for me this board is just like going fishing with my buddies, we talk about anything and everything. Just like my buddies, we don't always agree but we learn from each other. I love this board and the community that makes it what it is, lots of other "fishing" only boards have come and gone over the years, this one just keeps growing stronger.

I said right from day one that she was out to destroy this province. At this rate she's going to succeed before her term is up!

Just a thought: If you buy new you are going to loose probably 20% the minute you sign the papers. We are looking at motor homes and originally thought new would be the way to go. Several people suggested that we would save so much by buying used that if it was necessary to do any repairs we would still be way ahead to have bought used. After doing a lot of research we found that boy were they right and that if you shop wisely and get things checked out by a good mechanic that you get a lot more bang for your buck by going used. Example: I paid over $22,000.00 for my boat + taxes in 2009, it is like new (less than 200 hours on it) always stored inside, but if I was to sell it today I would probably take a 5 to 7K loss on it simply because it is 7 years old.

The 60 million dollar question. (Fishing related)
Big Cliff replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
Way too much money for me to spend in a lifetime: First thing I would do would be to set up trusts for my kids, grandkids, and great grand kids. They would be allowed to draw up to 90% of the intrest earned in any given year but the principal plus 10% would remain in the trust. Next, I would help out a bunch of my friends that could use a little extra help. (not that they NEED it but it would sure make their lives easier). Kids have always been a big priority for me so I would contact something like Big Brothers/Sisters and arange for a bunch of kids that otherwise might not have the opportunity to get away on trips of a lifetime. Then once all that was taken care of, I would take my family and a bunch of friends to something like the Great Slave Lake Resort for a totally catered vacation. Ahhhh but now all I need to do is win!
