  1. It is a decision only you can make and it is yours alone to make. I can pick you up at the airport/bus terminal/whatever, we have a queen size port-a-bed in Sue's craft room (I've never slept on it but I understand it is quite comfortable) and as mentioned earlier it's under 30 min to Bobcayegon and we can even loan you a car while you are here. If you do decide you want it to happen all you have to do is get to the Toronto area and I can take care everything else. I know you would do the same for me if the situation was reversed. Peace be with you!
  2. I am glad to hear that it got resolved but do know, I am only 1/2 an hour drive from there, if you have any more issues or you guys needed a place to crash for a few days just ask!
  3. Mike, nice to see you posting on here again, welcome back!
  4. OK, it's 4:50 am and I have to work today but I will be checking this thread as soon as I get home (mid to late afternoon probably). Post on here if you have been able to talk to him otherwise; If it hasn't been resolved to your satisfaction by then, I'll drive over to Bobcayegon myself with my cell phone and you will hear from your brother (or I'll be in jail). PM me your phone number, brothers last name, a room number if you have one any other information you think might be helpful.
  5. Well, first of all, welcome to god's country, you'll never want to go South of Hwy. 7 again LOL. Check to see if Cable Cable can offer you service for your internet. We were with Xplornet and had so many problems! Switched to Cable Cable and they have been fantastic. We went Virgin Mobile for our cell phones, no complaints (they use the bell network). If there is cable available where you are then see what they have to offer, wireless can be a bit of a PITA if it is storming at all! Cable Cable now have us hard wired so our phone, TV, and internet are even better than they were originally!
  6. Someone fed you a line of bull! Now if you didn't blow the water out of the pump or at least put antifreeze in it then the pump housing could have oxodized and that would have damaged the pump. It doesn't hurt to turn on the water supply and squeeze the trigger to flush air out of the pump but not doing it won't destroy the pump in one or two seasons. Who told you that you were at fault for not filling the pump with water first?
  7. A friend used this, worked perfectly no problems! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GCiPAsVq90
  8. WOW!
  9. Sorry, missed that one LOL.
  10. I was always old school, right from when I use to guide on the French people would often comment on how quickly and how well I could fillet fish. A few years ago a very good friend of mine, CPH was here and we went crappie fishing, man we caught a boat load. We only kept about 30 between us and when we got home and went to clean them he pulled out his rapala electric knife. I sort of chuckled to myself (an electric knife to clean fish, ya right) and we both got to work cleaning fish. Well, I have to tell you I was awe struck, he was cleaning fish three to my one and doing as good a job (or better) than I was. The next day I went into CTC and bought myself one of those "electric" knives. I liked it so much that I told my son about it (he's a bit of a chip off the old block and smiled and said "sure dad" (that boy can fillet a pike and you'd never know there were bones in it and he doesn't waste much!) Anyway, we went head to head on a mess of fish one day and he now owns one of those rapala electrics and loves it! I am a great fan of quality knives, well quality anything and I'd love to own one of Arts masterpieces but I'd probably just want it as a treasure rather than a knife, it would likely never get used LOL. I do have a Cutco and have for over 20 years now, it's a good knife but the blade lock doesn't work worth a darn. They have replaced it a few times now over the years, their warranty is fantastic, the steel seems to be quite good but I think their weakness is in the extendable blade, the blade lock is just a cam type thing and it fails quite easily. Still a good knife though but expensive.
  11. Jen's courage, your and Leah's strength have been a huge source of inspiration to both Sue and I in dealing with our daughters cancer. This thread may eventually; as you put it "drift off into history" but the help it has provided others will remain in our hearts for as long as we live!
  12. If you take care of it properly, don't leave water sitting in the pump or lines over the winter, do use high test gas, I wouldn't be surprised it that thing lasts you 10 years or more. Almost every pressure washer I have ever had to repair was because people hadn't put anti freeze in the pump or blown out the pump and lines prior to storing it. The other common problem was stale fuel.

  14. Grab that deal!!!!!!! New hoses are only about $35.00. Swish maintainance carry most if not all the parts for Karcher.
  15. Change nozzles, it will go from gentle to agressive!
  16. Wow, sorry I miss judged you so badly "I'd expect to meet a spoiled brat (which I'm sure you aren't)"! You sure cleared that up in a hurry!
  17. Go gas all the way BUT when storing it for the winter make sure you blow all the water out of the lines and the pump. (it's actually a good idea to put plumbing antifreeze in to the system, it will help prevent oxydization) ONLY use high test gas, and change the oil at least once a year. I know so many people that have bought electric ones and wish they hadn't. My gas one is 5 years old and still starts and runs like the day I got it.
  18. Sorry but if I am reading this right and you were dealing with me right now you wouldn't see your boat until June! So the guy is a greedy pig because he fills all the spaces he has and hasn't set it up so you can access your boat when "you" want; it's how he makes a living, empty spaces cost money! He must be doing something right if he has all those units stored there! You said you have been dealing with him for years and never had a problem; to me it sounds like he must be a reasonable guy. All these years and never a problem before? A couple of people have suggested going and talking to him; all you come back with is "it sucks, it aint fair, he's an..... well never mind you get the drift. Seems like you have a few years under your belt so I would think you'd be smart enough to understand that a contract is just that. Was there anything in the contract that said "I'll pick it up in March"? If the winter had been like last year would you still have wanted to pick it up in the first two weeks in March? I would love to meet you and get to know you because if I was to form an opinion based on what you have posted on this thread I'd expect to meet a spoiled brat (which I'm sure you aren't) but that's the way your posts are coming across. Hope this ends up working out to your satisfaction buut I sort of doubt it!
  19. Ok so it's in black and white "mutually agreed date, providing there is reasonable access to the boat." You want it now and he doesn't agree that there is reasonable access to the boat. You might not like it but you did accept (and I would expect signed a contract). I'm with Dara on this one, calling them greedy pigs and getting all upset isn't going to change it. Go and talk to the guy, I am sure that with this early spring there are going to be a lot more people wanting to get their stuff out of storage early. Perhaps you can work something out with the guy, might not be EXACTLY what you want but perhaps a reasonable compromise.
  20. That's what I love about my setup, flip a switch boat is in storage, flip a switch, boat is out of storage, it's always clean and dry and never needs to be shrink wrapped!
  21. No flooding on Sturgeon Lake and looking at the forecast for the next two weeks, I don't expect there will be any. Ice conditions; well there is still some fool out in the middle of the lake with a portable hut and he has been there the last two days, I'm not brave enough to take a walk out there to see how he is doing.
  22. Nice intro, welcome!
  23. Never been there but you are right, the reviews look good.
  24. Friends of ours have done the Trent System a few times now but they have a 36' trawler and stay on board, they always seem to really enjoy it. As others have said, don't be in a hurry, there are a lot of miles where you are just putting along. If you make it to Sturgeon Lake and we haven't moved by then, you'd be more than welcome to spend a night or two here.
