  1. You get offered real help from people you have never even met and don't even say 'thank you"? How do you think we should respond? I have offered to meet him and from there decide where I want to go in offering help you call that "dog piled"? What do you think I should do?
  2. Yes, I am the one selling the house on the lake but I am now 70 LOL. We are selling it because we have lived my/our dream for the last 16 years and now our dream is becoming reality. The reality is that I can no longer do the things that are necessary to manage a place like this. Don't sit around and wait for the "right time", the only thing you will get from that is missed dreams and opportunities! I do apologize though, what is right for me isn't right for everyone, I am sure your lady is worth whatever you are willing to do to make it all happen! I wish you and her nothing but the best!
  3. Good for you and good luck! All it takes is the desire to do it! You my friend are pussy whipped! You don't ask, you go, if she is the right one she will come with you if she isn't then it is better to part company now!
  4. The sad part is that this person came on here, got all sorts of offers and support, offered nothing in return (not even a thank you). Tjames09, contact me; come and visit me. I live right on Sturgeon Lake, fishing right off my dock is fantastic, if you are as you say you are then and only then will I vouch for you! At this moment I feel you are fishing for a lot more than pan fish and I don't mean pike.
  5. In most cases you have to be a good neighbor to have a good neighbor. It doesn't happen very often but occasionally you will run into those people that hate the world, when you do, you have a bad neighbor no matter what you do! Shane, I'd love to have you for a neighbor anytime, you catch em, I'll clean and cook em and you'll be called "big sinker" in no time LOL.
  6. Oh but the budget will balance itself!
  7. Well, maybe a walk down there and apologize for your cat and family bothering her. Explaning that there is a cat very similar to hers that likes to visit your property but if it isn't hers you might have to shoot it because it could be carrying any sort of who knows what. Tell her that you haven't shot it because you thought it was hers and ask her if she thinks you should just shoot it or call the SPCA? I would be very surprised if she doesn't "appreciate" you coming for a visit! Three years ago I had a neighbor that wanted to sue me because there was a storm that destroyed my boat house which ended up on it's side. It took the insurance company two weeks to get here and assess the damage. He wanted to sue me because it interfeared with his enjoyment of the view of the lake. (I have the paperwork to prove it) Fortunatly he has since moved! Neighbors can be wonderful but they can also be a real pain!
  8. Now that sounds like a blast!!!!!!
  9. So, were they on the bottom or suspended?
  10. OK, I answered you honestly (you can ask anyone of the guys on here that know the lake) no PM, it wasn't needed! Different seasons different species. I live on Sturgeon lake and your post and the answers could be read by hundreds of people, what does that tell you about that spot now? Probably not worth fishing unless you are willing to stand sholder to sholder and untangle lines, your post made it public! Obviously you don't know the area very well or you would know that the likelyhood of catching a pike anywhere in Sturgeon Lake is very slim. I have lived here on the lake for 15 years and never caught a single pike. Your comment about "the only thing open would be pike and sunfish"? That doesn't make any sense at all: Sunfish? Pan fish are open year round and there a a lot more fish than sunfish in the "panfish" catagory. There are so many members on this board that will be happy to help you out but not when you just fish for information. Get involved, make some friends, give a little, get a lot!
  11. OK, a little from both sides of the fence: First of all from everything I do know about you I can't ever see you abusing anything be it animal or human but not everyone has had the opportunity to read your posts over the same period of time that I have. Admittedly my opinion is based on only what I have read that you have written, it could be scewed because I have no body language or facial expressions to work with but my gut tells me you are a person that I would like to spend time with! Now from a different perspective: we have a neighbor that has a beautiful golden lab and two cats. They let the lab out and forget about him, it isn't uncommon to see him waundering the roads and he often shows up at our door (he seems to have taken a liking to us and especially to me, well, I kind of like him too and will admit to giving him ear and belly rubs . Thing is, not everyone likes him around here, some of our new neighbors are afraid of him (he is pretty big). River wouldn't hurt a flee but some of these people don't know that and River doesn't understand! All I have to say is "old man mode River" and he settles right down and just sits beside me. Further more he likes to walk the road and there have been a few times where people have had to slam on their brakes because of him, many of us are afraid he is going to get run over one of these days. Their two cats also wander free; I have spent thousands of dollars on our landscaping and it kind of bothers me to see one of their cats digging in my garden to do it's business. I have lots of birds and chipmunks around here too, well until the cats come around. Now it is true that the chipmunks do dig holes in my garden but they are burring sunflower seeds not poop. That one is a little easier to take, I chose to give the chipmunks the sunflower seeds. I am not trying to defend your neighbor, her attitude stinks and she needs an awakining but lettting your animals run on someone esles property isn't always fair either. There is a saying that "strong fences does good neighbors make". Sad that it has to be that way but there is some truth to it.
  12. LOL Thanks Beans and I know if I needed you you'd be here cane and all. Most of what we have been doing is "de cluttering", like most people we have amassed so much stuff over the years that we really don't need anymore. I wanted my son to come down because I had a lot of tools and hunting stuff that I wanted to give him, he actually had to leave some stuff behind because he ran out of room in the SUV LOL. I didn't realize that I had 17 fishing rods, I managed to narrow that down to 12 (like who needs 12 fishing rods) but a couple of those were custom made for me, a few were gifts that I just couldn't part with, got to keep a couple incase some kids show up and want to do some fishing...... Everything is pretty much done now, I just have a bit of stuff to move to the storage unit and that's all up in the garage and I'll get it moved today then I can sit back and relax.
  13. Saturday my son and grandaughters husband came down to help me move some stuff, boy those two are hard workers! Anyway I decided that since they were going to be down this way I'd book a hut with Tim again this Sunday and treat them to a day of perch fishing. We had a fantastic day; started off the morning with some beautiful jumbos and the bite stayed pretty steady all day although as the day went on the size decreased, That didn't matter, we were spending time together and catching fish, how much more can you ask for? The final count was 30 in the cooler for the boys to take home with them and near as we can figure something close to 210 released (we were trying to keep track but there were times we all had fish on at the same time and were laughing and forgot to tally them). Anyway turns out that in talking to Tim he was starting to take his huts off as of yesterday, he figured that with the rain and warm temperatures coming in this week that will be the end of the season for him. Glad I had the chance to get out again and thanks Tim for another wonderful day on Simco.
  14. Yes there are; depends on the time of the year; and what pigeontroller said plus crappie.
  15. Get old, never grow up! All the best to both of you!
  16. Sounds just about perfect except I still have too many friends here in Lindsay to move right away from here LOL.
  17. It ain't over Beans, just another step in the getting older LOL. Hey remember all the trips we use to take up to Jack lake and I'd drive out onto the lake so you'd have a comfortable place to sit (I never did tell you that was the reason LOL) or the time we got nailed on Simco on my ATV because we weren't wearing helmits, people were walking faster than we were going. Boy we do have some wonderful memories LOL.
  18. Better safe than sorry for sure!
  19. No, not at all, motor home is still a go but we do want a base as well, something small locally to call home so that when the time comes we can't travel anymore we don't have to start looking all over again.
  20. Well unfortunatly we can't go down to the US anymore because of Sue's health issues, the insurance for her was going to cost us almost a grand a week and wouldn't cover pre existing conditions. We just can't risk it!
  21. Mobile home, modular home. To me mobile home means it's still on wheels LOL. We are actually quite interested in a really nice modular in a year round trailer ??? park. It's beautiful, two bedrooms, two bath rooms, open concept, fireplace, a nice little workshop for me to putter in. A driveway just big enough to fit 4 cars (if you park close)..... so yes, we are considering it but there are also several nice little bungalows here in Lindsay.
  22. Same way you do for pike or if you are using a rod set your drag really loose and make sure you have your rod tied off just in case.
  23. Oh we are going to stay local Shane except for maybe a bit of traveling. Just down sizing to something I can manage a little more easily.
  24. LOL, thank you so much for the laughs and I promise I won't touch your remote if you don't touch mine!
