A huge pressure crack just opened up running from the Moorings Marina right across to the far side and there is slush everywhere as far as the eye can see from my place right down to Lunge Haven. I wouldn't be going out there on a sled at all right now but if you do, please be careful, I'm too old to be trying to rescue anyone out there but I'd have to try!

Looking at the long range forecast there is no "really" good ice making weather in the next couple of weeks. I have a feeling this could be a very early soft water season this year.

Are you sure your track isn't binding on something when you set it down? If it runs fine up on a block but not when it is sitting on the track???????

Thank you so much for that very generous offer Geoff. This unit is still working fine and I have switched browsers which seems to have eliminated the problems I was having with Explorer being out of date and I couldn't update past 9 because of Vista. I think we are just going to chug along with this unit for now. As others have said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it LOL. BTW, I'd be happy to buy you lunch anytime! Oh ya, long time ago LOL.

Thanks for the warning!

river ice fishing safety, close call
Big Cliff replied to manitoubass2's topic in General Discussion
OMG my heart just about stopped with the thought of it! I am so glad you made it out safe, all I can think about is what would it have done to your wife and kids if you hadn't! Just goes to show that even someone with your skills and experience can get into trouble, thankfully you had the equipment necessary to survive it! I hope you can recover some of your gear, the sled especially but as others have said "gear can be replaced". Glad you are still with us! -
Friend was out on Sturgeon last three days. First two days where we normally see perch and he didn't get a single bite. 5-7" of ice in a protected bay. Yesterday out in front of our place for about an hour, 4-5" of ice, one small walleye in the slot but out of season so back it went, missed one more hit. Thinking I might head up to Tim Hale's for a week day first week of Feb. and see if the perch are biting.

Maybe that's the issue; you should have spent more time posting on here

I look like I'm pregnant does that count?

That's one smart baby, even I don't want to leave a nice warm comfy place in this -18 nonsense.

Well, I know I have been very pleased with the Lenovo I have, it is about 7 years old and still works quite well and it's had a lot of use. I already have Lenovo on my short list when I do upgrade. Congratulations BTW Cliff

Put her in jail, that was out and out fraud, she had people working for her and knew she couldn't pay them but she let them keep working anyway! These are people that have little prospect of finding jobs elsewhere, many of them are dealing with issues that would make it difficult for them to hold down jobs in an everyday environment. She used and abused her position, I say she should have here assets frozen until this all gets sorted out, let her see what it feals like to be sitting there with nothing. What a slime ball!

Ya, no pay, no severance, can't get their ROEs so they can't get EI. That CEO should be in jail!
-
She didn't just step into the job and have this dumped on her, and there is absolutly no reason she just closed the doors and left all those workers without their pay cheques and without any notice! A good CEO would have been taking steps to protect those workers and not just riding the company into the ground while putting $20,000.00 a month into her bank account.
-
My problem is with a CEO that is making that kind of money and can't run a corporation that gets: all it's products for free, pays it's staff minimum wage, and can't see the writing on the wall far enough in advance to warn the staff of the pending cuts. I'll bet she doesn't miss getting a cent of what is owed to her! Based on her previous record I'm surprised that she even got a job!

Checked the product specs out, doesn't say if it has DVD or not, does yours?

Just found out that my good friend Beans had to say fairwell to his 13 year old beagle. My heart goes out to you my friend, you did the kindest thing that could be done but I know how much it still hurts!

Thanks for the offer Geoff but I am only THINKING about buying a new one right now. Got to put a few more pennies in the bank account before I make the decision.

Couple of things to consider: The dealership, if there isn't one in town then you are going to be traveling everytime you need service or support. I loved my Subaru but the closest dealership was in Peterborough. We have a Toyota and the dealership here in Lindsay have been absolutly awesom to deal with, customer service has been way above expectations and the car is an absolute dream. I have a Nissan Rogue, HATE it and I am not happy with the dealership either, I have had several issues with the car and will never buy another Nissan or use this dealership again. If I was in the market for a new car right now I'd be going with the Toyota.

Well, I told you I'd give you my cold smoke generator if you wanted to make a road trip (or you could have just come for a visit and we could have smoked it here, only takes an hour) but yes, it does make a big difference, my favorite is maple! Good job BTW, looks awesome!

Just thinking here that with this laptop being as old as it is it might be time to start looking for a new one. Things I do know (or think I know) I do not want a tablet, several of my programs like Microsoft Office are on DVDs and I would want to install them on the new computer so I would need a DVD player. I use this laptop with an external monitor and keyboard except when traveling, I would want to be able to continue doing that. Any DO NOT BUY!!!!!! makes or modles What are some of the key features that I should be looking for (or stay away from) Should I be dealing with one of the big box stores (and if so who is a good choice) or would I be smarter to deal with a "computer" store. I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go!

Question for the tech savy Re. Windows 10
Big Cliff replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Thanks all, some good advice that really helped me. I do run Norton 360 and haven't had any issues with anything getting past it so I should be ok as far as the security thing. Vista runs everything I want and I haven't had any problems with it so far so I guess that as long as this computer keeps working like several have said "if it ain't broke". -
I have an older laptop, it's a Lenova about 7 years old and I am very happy with it. It is running Vista and still seems to be working fine but I am told that Vista is no longer supported. I'm not sure if I can upgrade it to windows 10 (not even sure if I want to), I can find lots of free upgrades from Windows 7 and 8 but haven't found anything about upgrading from Vista. Could I? Should I? Am I going to have to re-install some of my programs like Microsoft Office? I'd like to stay with what I have because it's what I am use to but am worried that one day soon it just won't work or be able to handle some of the newer programs and features.

Sorry, Sue greated me at the door wearing nothing but a big red bow. Door is locked it's now a party for two

Regarding my drivers license comment; that came from an article that aired on CTV just prior to the first plane load landing in Toronto and they stated that Services Canada would be there to help them get (among other things) their drivers license. They may have misspoke and if so I misquoted, I didn't check to see if it was fact or not. As far as me ever being offended by anyone: some of the very best lessons I have learned in life were from people that challanged what I thought I knew and were able to open my eyes to a different way of seeing things. About the only way anyone could offend me would be to steal from me because if you needed something I had and asked I'd probably just give it to you anyway.
