They will if they can, it's short notice and the first nice weekend this spring, lots of people are going to be busy with their own stuff to do!
-
No problem my friend, I work during the week you work the weekends LOL I know you would be here if you could!

I thought I had it all figured out, my son was going to come and give me a hand but unfortunatly his plans got changed. I could really use a hand on Saturday morning for about an hour or two. Three or four young fellows with chest waders to help me with the marine railway and my dock would do it. I'd like to start at 8:00 if we could and it should only take an hour, two at the most!. If you can make it please let me know so I can have everything ready to go. If you can help it sure would be appreciated! Big Cliff

We re did our kitchen counter tops last year using a Beautytone kit. It wasn't hard to do at all but it was a little time consuming because of the waiting time between each step. We got the kit on special at Home Hardware and I think it was about $100.00. http://www.techstone.ca/ct_refinish_kit.html It turned out really well, you would be more than welcome to stop by and have a look if you like.

I'm interested in this topic; Both Sue and I have iPhone 4S that I bought outright. We are currently with Virgin Mobile because they use the bell network and the coverage is fantastic. Now I have a data plan because I use my phone for business and Sue is on my bill but doesn't have a data plan, she doesn't need one. I currently pay $118.65 a month but I think there might be better plans out there for us. In the very near future I want to get rid of our land line and both Sue and I will just use our cell phones, we don't make a lot of long distance calls and to be honest with you I'm not even sure what "data" is on the phone but I think I have 5 GB, I use google maps text, and talk but that's about it (oh and sometimes play solitare or sudoko). They need to have a place where us old folks can go where some smart donkey can figure out what we really do need and set it up for us. Hey Geoff want to start a bisiness: (not implying you are a donkey) "Simple Technology for Seniors". Bring us your cell phones, tablets, laptops and we'll help you set them up and make sure you are getting what YOU need! Sue and I would sign up right now!

My wife is pretty understanding but when I turned 65 she said I had to stop dancing around nude on opening day, I can still dance around but I have to be wearing something; now if I could only figure out where my speedo went, she swears she hasn't seen it!

Magic eraser and a little water, removed the dirt, left the battle scars. Thanks for the help!

I guess the same people that wash their cars or boats LOL. I love this rod and just want to take care of it. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give the magic eraser a try!

I have a custom made rod that was given to me for Christmas by my staff about 20 years ago, I love this rod, not only is it an excellent rod but it means a lot to me. The cork is getting very grey and old looking and I would like to refresh it but I'm not sure how or what to do. I know we have many experts on here so I thought perhaps someone could tell me the best way to do it. All help would be much appreciated!

I just came up from the lake and cleaning up all the stuff that washed up, water level is way down from it's highest point the other day, I would say it is about 10" above it's normal summer level as of this afternoon.
-
It has dropped quite a bit but no where near record lows thats for sure. I would say it is still about 1.5' to 2' above normal summer levels.

My marine railway is about 6' from where it's supposed to be. Fortunatly I disconnect it every fall so if the ice does move it there usually isn't any damage. Water is still too high for me to check it yet though. Going to be a PITA to get it back in place and hooked up but that's living on the water for you LOL.

Rescue or recovery? A few years back while putting my dock in I slipped and fell, I was only in about 3' of water but I still had a hard time getting back on my feet and getting out. The shock of that cold water knocks the breath right out of you. Again another sad tradgity to start the season while trying to do something so simple.

I wonder what Name Wynne used?
-
Well, the water levels are starting to drop on Sturgeon Lake, I haven't used a tape measure but it looks like 3-4" since yesterday.
-
Glad to hear it all worked out for you!

http://barrie.ctvnews.ca/search-continues-for-two-missing-canoeists-on-pigeon-lake-1.2844618 So sad, none were wearing PFDs, all the wanted to do was get their paddle boat back.

No doubt about it, EC is a solid guy, he's often done right by me also!

She's 2' high and rising partner, this is the highest I have ever seen it. My neighbors dock just floated away (not the one I tried to move, the neighbor on the other side), I managed to get a rope on it and used my ATV to haul it back from the water a couple of feet. He's going to have a hard time getting it back into the water in the spring but at least he'll have it! Boy it's cold out there in that wind, I think I need a shot of brandy just to get the blood flowing again.

If I was there and on a dare (with a few rum in my belly) I'd be just dumb brave enough to do it LOL!

This is a great thread, I have been wanting a good pair of polarized glasses for a couple of years now but I have a hard time spending a lot of money for a brand name unless there is truly value in the name. keep the reviews coming!
-
Trust me you already are and it is only going to keep getting higher. We keep getting told to reduce our usage and save money but when we reduce our usage they aren't making enough money so they jack our rates up to compensate. When we complain they tell us to reduce our usage and the circle continues. At this rate we'll soon be paying huge hydro rates for something we give away! Oh wait, I think we already are!

I just went down to have a look at the shore line, there are pieces of docks, railroad ties, and lots of logs and branches floating around. Our neighbors shore line is lower than ours and he has enough fire wood washed up on his land to keep his bon fires going all summer. If the water comes up another few inches he is going to loose his floating dock. I tried to pull it up higher onto land but it's too heavy for me to move and everything is covered in ice from the waves splashing it. I have a call in to him but just got his voice mail. Oh well I did try!
